Hi guys, I've had a problem with my bike not starting after it was left for a while. It was left at a family members in a garage over winter, or so I though. He had taken it out of the garage for more space and left it uncovered over winter. Devestated. The problem at first was the starter motor wouldn't turn, so i took it off, took it apart and gave it a clean plummed it back in and now it turns and spins the idler and also the flywheel gear but the stator isn't turning, so the crankshaft isn't either. If I push the bike or turn the stator by hand everything turns fine. I'm not sure what could have broke if it was standing and not being used. I was thinking maybe…

I need a little help with a couple of things on my Dragstar please :-) 1) I have cut the back of the seat off, as the rear fender has been replaced with a custom metal fender. There is nothing to bolt the seat to currently, it is only slotted onto the frame with the plastic plugs. What would you recommend to safely secure the seat to the bike? 2) Where is a side number plate bracket supposed to bolted on to? I ride the bike, I don't know much about putting it back together after somebody else started the custom project for me....

I am finally nearing the end of this long tunnel that is the custom process.... One thing i have hit a wall with is the air filter. I have taken the standard filter box off, i am looking to put in a SoA type air filter. The nearest i can find that will work with my bike is the 'spike air cleaner' that has been pointed out to me on eBay. However, I can only find them listed for the 1100, I have the 650. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for, or if you know of somewhere I can get one? Thank you

My new bike had the surging issues at low speeds that all xvs1300's have, these got worse after I fitted my new Cobra swept pipes, I intended to do Jack's o2 mod as I did on my previous bike but couldn't find that safe place I where I stored the spare resistors. I remembered reading somewhere that a lot of stryker owners across the pond where running their bikes with the o2 sensor unplugged so I unplugged mine and went for a spin, a much smoother ride all round probably as good as my previous bike with Jack's mod. Now there is a whole lot of bollocks on the interweb thingy about dangers of running bikes in this way but as far as I can tell the o2 sensor is only used under…

Good afternoon all, I am a new to this forum but also new to Biking. Treated my self as a preretirement present to the above. Delighted with my classic bike but find the lack of a fuel gauge a slight disadvantage. OK I keep on filling up just not to be caught on empty but wondered if any of you learned people have installed a fuel gauge to their Yamaha XVS 1100 classic. Is this possible? Or do I just take a bit of a risk. Happy with the latter too. Many thanks.

Hi. I got some new saddlebags but they are already starting to sag. What happens is the front side collapses inwards which makes the bottom bow down slightly getting closer to the pipe. I put a stick of wood just under the front edge, pulling the saddlebag wide which solved the problem, but it looks stupid and falls out of place. Therefore im looking for something i can just clip/slide into place on the lip of the bag to keep it rigid, but can also be removed when the bags need to be heavily loaded for camping etc, where the lip can sag outwards for more space. Something like this: There should be a lot of products out there that can do the job but for the …

Hi, new to this site and have had a few dragstars over the years, all the others were standard bar the exhausts. My most recent Dragstar is a pro custom built 650, one off fabricated 3ft wide bars, fabricated mudguards and seat, hidden micro indicators, side mounted reg plate and white wall tyres, all finished in gloss black and chrome the best color combination i think. Bought this of a fella last November who had all the work done by a place called 'fooey engineering'. Did put it up on Ebay but have decided to keep it and sell my R1 instead, prefer the relaxed ride and road presence this bike gives rather than racing sports mode of the R1. But yeah I really like the…

hi guys ,i recently had to have the drive belt replaced on my midnight star to the sum of £505 the bike is only 2 years old and has done 21 thousand miles and according to the manual should be replaced at 25 thousand, when the job was done at my local garage i was told that they suspected the rear sprocket was worn and advised i have this replaced to save damaging the new belt, this is going to cost another £300 plus the labour ,this has been a serious kick in the balls to be honest and i wondered if any one else has had a worn rear sprocket at 21 thousand miles ? info and advice appreciated , the bike appears to be running fine but i dont want to wreck the new belt.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a yamaha dragstar 650, it's my first big bike after riding my 125 virago for 3 years. I took her out today for about 10minutes and brought her back. I went no faster than 30mph and the engine and pipes where roasting, like real hot. Is this normal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all, I just joined the forum. I bought an 2007 v-star 650 custom and took out the two carbs, bought a Mikuni TM40-6 single carb from amazon and I was wondering which jets do I need to purchase to rejet the carb? I know KJS sells a kit for about $650 that includes the manifold and the TM40-6 carb that they rejet before shipping it, but I cant find out which jets they use. I will build my own manifold similar to the one on KJS site, I just need to know which jets should I use. I would appreciate if anyone has that info for me. Thank you Alex

Some time ago, I posted how I was getting very high mpg's (60+) even riding through London traffic on the drag 650 (which is supposed to do 45-50 mpg). I couldn't figure out what was causing this blessing, but was worried she might be running way to lean. However having checked my sparks it turns out she was running a smidge on the rich side. So still couln't figure why I was getting such good mpg figures. Could it be the V&H pipes alone doing this? Even after a re-jet done shortly after fitting them? Then recently I was playing about with the airbox, thinking of ways to increase airflow a bit, since she was running slightly rich. Looking on a website readin…

Ok new update for all Xv 125 enthusiasts. There was a lot of work once I told my mechanic I want him to install performance air filter and re-jet. He dismounted and put back carb. at least 10 times. It was hard as hell to find right mixture, so guys don't do this at home.It is at least 10 times trickier than XV250 carb re-jetting.XV 125 is much more sensitive. I also modified my front sprocket and changed from 13t to 14t. With new air filter and re-jetting, my little Virago goes slightly better with 14/47 compared with stock 13/47 (no air fileter mod). Yesterday I took her for a ride, and boy does she sound different..... Cruising speed is now …

Hey, I wonder if can help? I went for a ride the other day and as I reached around 60 mph my bike seemed to drop power for a split second and then a warning light come on! It stayed on till I stopped, turned engine off then it flashed 4 times then off then 4 flashes again. It almost seems that a high rev makes the light turn on. I changed spark plugs, air fIlter and changed oil and filter to boot! Still seems to happen? Any ideas out there?
