hi, i own an91 xj900f. Does anyone know the nut/bolt size in the haynes manual, that you need to lock the fork internals when undoing the allen key at the fork leg bottom. I made one from a box spanner when changing the seals on a gpz900. Cheers

I've noticed on other bikes the turn signals stay on all the time solid during just normal riding, kinda like 'running lights.' I figure its a good safety feature. Is my xs400 supposed to do that? Right now they only blink when I flip the switch. By the way, I just got a new left control assembly on ebay and hooked it up, and its the first time I've used the signals. Is pushing in on the switch supposed to turn the blinker off? Mine doesn't seem to want to do that. I just have to lightly push it the opposite direction to get it to turn off.

I managed to get another one, but I want to make sure this don't happen again. Best way I can explain what happened is for the reader to bring up the e-fische of the 1978 XS400E kickstarter at yamaha-motor.com. Part 13, split where it goes around Part 11. Accordingly, as the kick lever itself wasn't properly attached to its base, I couldn't kickstart the bike. Please don't try and tell me to bump start the bike as after 18 years of riding I have concluded that bump starting a cold bike is as much an urban legend as getting a bike on a center stand with only one person. I found a billet kickstarter for a Ring Ding (RD) at this link: http://www.hvccycle.com/Kicksta…

Anyone here know if the baffles can be pulled from the pipes of a CS1? I do not know the year, it is a friend's bike and I am not near it to help, but he tells me that he can find no way to pull the baffles out to clean/repack them. FWIW the bike is purple/white, I want to say 70 or 71. Thanks

I've had this 73 mx250a sitting around and I need to get it moving. What options do I have for replacing the CDI unit on this bike? I'm not concerned about keeping original parts. I see tons of CDI units available for newer bikes- has anyone had luck swapping in a more common unit?

Hello all, I wonder if anyone could tell me what other bikes have the same forks as the yamaha rs100 with drum brakes. Mine are too pitted to do anything with for the mot. Seem to be like hens teeth on ebay. Bike isnt worth a lot so have to be on the cheap. Rechroming etc would be too expensive. Any information much appreciated. Craig oops may have posted in the wrong section. If so please move.

Hi All, nearly completed the rebuild of bike but have found that the front forks are completely unservicable. There is a rear shortage of spares available in the fork department so it looks like a total front end swap. However, this is something I have never attempted/ contemplated so any assistance will be gratefully recieved. So how is it done? I've read loads of articles where somebody has fitted R1 forks to a GSX and the like, but they never seem to explain how to go about it! Cheers Gary

Hi Everyone, I have a gorgeous 1978 XS1100 that is in need of a little attention on the engine. I'd love to have it powder coated but this would mean stripping the engine. Are there any other alternatives out the to really give it a good makeover?

Hi All Can anyone tell me what size of pistons I have, they are marked 3H5 on the crown. No other idents, I thought it should have been marked STD or + something. The bike is an 1100 US Import of 1980 Vintage. Thanks Johnny
