I've just seen a 1976 Yamaha RD 400 C kept in a bedroom for the last 5 years. It has 2400 original miles; started life in New York apparently and hung from a ceiling in a restaurant for 18 years. Original tires; road gear fitted. Les the owner says he has all papers to run it on-road. I told Les I'd surf the web and look for a value for him. Anybody know how much he should look for? I see a few DT 400s with 10 to 20 thousand km for between 1,000 to 3,000 euros, but none in mint original condition. thanks in advance...

Just started restoring a 1974 Yamaha 250 DR. It belong to my father-in-law and hasn't ran in 10 years . I finally talked him into bring it to my barn to clean it up and get it running again. the bikes a mess!...a little rust poking through some of the rims and a LOT of cleaning and polishing up to do, replace all hoses etc. This is my first restore job. Iv'e started at the front and will work my way back. I was polishing the aluminium lower forks and realized that there is some sort of coating that I've polished off . Needed to do it though because of the corrosion. What can i seal it with when I'm done though? Just wanted to see if there are any other 250 DR…

I recently purchased an old '82 XJ 550 to tool around with after having to sell my previous bike a while back. It runs and starts fine, but I seem to be having some electrical problems. The Brakelight is permanently on, even w/o the brake depressed. The headlight worked fine when I picked it up, but it sat in the garage for two weeks because I had no time to work on it, and when I started it back up, there was no headlight. Charged the battery just in case, but still no power going the the front end of the bike. (headlights, turn signals, and all the indicators are blank) checked the bulbs and they were all ok. Im not much of an electrician and getting a crash …

I own an '82 xj 550. Its running sweet since i refurbed the carbs, but the other night I was riding home and noticed the headlight was dimming out on me at low rpm. if i blip the throttle the headlight brightens up but as the rpm drops off so does the light. however, it also happened at 90mph which was a bit hairy to say the least. any ideas what could cause this? i've had a little dig around but the temp. in canada has plummited and its now snowing so i want to avoid hours of fault finding. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just got a 1979 XS400F and I am trying to do some general maintenance. I changed the oil, oil filter, and plugs and tightened every nut and bolt I could find. Now for my questions about lubing: What do I need to lube? How do you lube it? - Specifically, the cables. How often should I lube it? The bike seems to be running well so I don't really want to mess with it too much, but are there any other general maintenace procedures that I should look into? Thanks.

Hallo everybody. I'm new here, and I would appreciate some help. I have recently bought an XS 400 DOHC. As it was made for German market, it is reduced to 27 HP. Normally, this bike has 38 or 44 HP. Can someone tell me how was it reduced and how can I "open" it? Probably someone could know more on German forums (because they had a lot of bikes reduced to 27 HP), unfortunately, I don't speak German. Thanks in advance, greetings from Croatia.

just bought an '82 yamaha SR250 exciter. i'm waiting to ride it until the air filter comes in the mail. runs ok, carb could probably use some cleaning. problem is, i went to change the oil filter, and noticed the the PO had replaced two of the stock 6mm allen bolts for the oil filter cover with severely stripped philllips screws. i'll have to drill those out later. the immediate concern is that when i put the one allen bolt back in after removing it, i inadvertently stripped the threads on the aluminum crankcase cover. i barely put any torque on that screw, so i suspect that it has been stripped and re-threaded before. does anyone have a crankcase cover for this mo…

Hi folks! I'm new here. I've been driving a Vespa scooter 200 cc for nearly 12 years but last November I bought a brand new Kawasaki ER-5 and all I can say is..........yupi, yupi, hey!!!! But now I've been asked to sell an old Yamaha 400 cc. It is 15/20 years old and I don't know if it is a classic bike or how much should I ask for. http://blog.iespana.es/filterarrow/blogimage.php?i=89937 http://blog.iespana.es/filterarrow/blogimage.php?i=89938 http://blog.iespana.es/filterarrow/blogimage.php?i=89939 I'm lost. I don't know what to do. Should I sell it the way it is? or should I take to the Official Yamaha Service to be repaired? All inputs are welcome T…

Does anyone know where I can get carburettor spares for an xj550. Specifically I need the 4 diaphragms for the throttle sliders and secondly a rubber ring for the fuel tap. This ring stops the fuel flow when there is no vacuum at the intake manifold. I live in Kent Uk near Chatham. Thanks

I have a 1981 Seca 750 that has developed a grab in the front end. Something grabs I believe the front wheel and then lets go. Anybody else have a similar problem? I'm thinking it may be the bearings. Possibly the brakes. Any ideas?

I recently got my hands on a 1980 XJ650G, and after a few weeks of work she is running strong. I couldn't be happier. I am however puzzled by the emblem on the side panels. According to the maual and the serial number, its an XJ650G, but the side panels read "Maxim-I" There is no reference to the "I" insignia anywhere in the manual. Can someone clue me in to what it means?
