Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes

Hi guys looking for some info on port polishing is this something i should try myself? compressor and air dremol?i no smoothing out burs etc for better gas flow has got to be a good thing but is there any disadvantages? will it be a noticeable increase in power? where should i be polishing exhaust port, inlet and boost port? has any one ever done it there self or sent it away if so let me no the process or anything cheers

I've got a TT600R with 17" talon hubbed wheels and a speedo drive. The speedo is not working and i suspect its because the cable is too tight and has failed. Anyone out there fitted 17" wheels and fitted a conventional spped cable to the stock speedometer? Any ideas about who could supply a lomng enugh cable with the correct fittings at each end?

hi again my bike from cold takes about 5miles to get up to working temperature the only think of is Thermostat? is there anything else that can stop it getting up to temp? any suggestions would be great help!

I've ridden bikes for most of my life but never on road, well apart from a Jincheng Monkey Bike (Dont laugh) I've just got rid of a Yammy Quad and as I work in the centre of Cardiff I feel the only way forward is to buy a bike, I've looked into everything and its going to be a 125 but i'm 6'3" and I need something beefy size wise. I dont want to go fast as the traffic is mental and its all 30mph limits on my route anyway, i've looked at what I think is everything and I'm swaying towards an XT125R as it seems the beefiest and nicest looking bike I can get, it also doesnt look too small for a 125. Anybody else a bit on the lofty side got one of these bikes??

hi i got a 1997 dt230 lanza and i cannot get it to start. Does anyone know how i can attach a kick starter to the bike and what parts i need (obviously a kick starter) but what sort and other bits required etc thanks

Hi, This is my first post. I have a DT 125 that was a road bike once upon a time but is now a track bike. It has had all lights, battery etc removed and wiring was a bodge. I have got it running but as soon as it goes into gear it electrically cuts out. Can anybody help. I'm not sure what year it is.

Hi. I have been riding my yamaha dt 125 now for around 2 months. It is a 1991 model. It has been leaking oil now for about a month, anyway, last night i was riding and suddenly i lost all power and had to pull over. I tried to kick start it but it was making a strange clunking noise and wouldnt start. I then went to bump start it but again it made a very strange noise and then died. I got it home after pushing it 2 miles and tried kick starting it again, the kick start stuck after about a third of the way down. My dad put it down to running out of engine oil and the engine has 'seized'. Whats everyones thoughts, how much would it cost to get it fixed at a mechanic? Or…

Hi there just wondering what the top speed of the TW125 is and what the 0-60 is roughly? i really love the look of these bikes with the big fat rear tyre, but i want something that isnt going to struggle on hills and keep up with traffic. many thanks.

I have a 1980 model DT175 enduro. It has been hard to start? I have fitted a new plug etc but It's still hard to start. I can bump start it OK and once started seems to run OK.It seems to start OK when warm/hot but is difficult when cold. I have checked that the plug is sparking by removing it, earthing it out on the motor and kicking it over,it sparks but I'm not sure if it's what you would call a strong spark? I'm wondering if about the CDI, coils, black box etc are not what they should be?? Any help would be apprecciated. Thanks Mark

Can anyone offer a starting point for a mainbeam headlight problem on my (U.K based) XT660 Tenere. If I run her with the sidelights only..I don't have a problem. If, however, I go to main beam then I have a problem...they keep flickering between dim, next to nothing at all and then suddenly very bright (and not strictly in that sequence each time)...noticeably depending upon the speed/revs and resulting amount of vibration caused... because curiously if I hold a steady 50mph, then they don't play up but if I either drop below or go above this speed then I get the problem? hi all....ive not so long ago bought my very first xtz super tenere....love the bike to bits..found a couple of sights that may be of interest...first of all,i couldnt find a replacement screen found this company on the net([email protected] au) they make screens too fit that are 100mm taller and i my case the colour i wanted (blue ) there servic eis great and the produce is spot on ......also emulsion tubes...known problem on big twins...try these guys factory pro ...got both my tubs from them for 23usd plus 12 usd for shipping just type in emulsion tubes on the net and they come up.....fast delivery toooooo....hope above is of use to anyone....

Both of my front fork seals have failed (apparently), both seals seem to be leaking oil at an alarming rate, the thing is, this happened at about 3000 km, and it seems to have happened to all the models of the same year, I cant replace the seals myself since the dealer can't find me a repair manual therefor I have none of the information i need to replace them myself. The problem is they want to charge me 250$ to replace them, but it seems like a factory error, If its happening to every bike under 3000 km it cant just be wear and tear. Any thoughts, should I go down there and raise hell about it or should I just let it go and count my losses? If it matters the …
