i received this info concerning the DT400, which i have my eye on, i'm bearing in mind that he's trying to sell me an XL250, but just wondering what your thoughts are on the following... "I'm not sure if it's a poorly designed voltage regulator or vibration,or both, but I used to work at a Yamaha shop and we did a brisk buisiness in regulators and bulbs for them. They are known for overcharging the electrical system and blowing all the bulbs, even the instrument bulbs. It can be annoying and expensive. -The Yamaha 400 is a cool bike, I've owned three motocross versions, but they vibrate too much for road use. The four stroke XL250 is much smoother and the motor should out…

I bought a 2004 (54 plate) Yamaha Dt125X (the supermoto one) and I am wanting to fully derestrict it. I have had a full DEP exhaust fitted to it, which has made a difference. I have been looking on the net, especially www.dtr125.net and it says to cut the green and black wire that goes into the speedo. I when through the wires and found the 4 pin connecting block (the 1 with 4 wires going in and only 3 coming out) and cut and earthed the Green and brown wire to the frame, I did the green and brown wire as there was no green and black wire. Firstly I did the end that comes from the loom which made no difference so then I tried the other end (Speedo end of the wire I cut) w…

Just a quick one, Has anybody ever increased the length of the spacer at the top of the front suspension legs to make the suspension stiffer. As using a thicker oil would only slower the rebound im thinking of inreasing the length of the top spacer with washers or a longer tube to harden the downward pressure, Anyone with any thoughts or tried this.

Hi. I am driving myself mad trawling through loads of websites and forums but now thought I will try a shortcut. Basically I wish to replicate a XT500 flat tracker which I want for road use. All I wish to know is that there an easy way to change the front end to a smaller wheel (maybe a mag one) and normal front mudguard. Is there a set of forks/front end that will slip straight into my exhisting trees . The general opinion I am getting is that XS650/SR500 would do it but I think these are going to be to hard to come across. Check out some of XT and TT's on this website to see what I mean http://www.vft.org/vftforsale2.html Is there someone out there who has done…

I have a tzr 125 engine which i plan to mount to my go kart. I have removed all the wiring and now just have the regulater, cdi and another black box which i think is for the power valve. There is a few wires left over and i'm not sure what to connect them to and which ones are usless and what wires to earth and attach to the coil. Also on the regulater there is a block with 3 white wires these connect straight to the stator and there is also red and black that i take it they go to the battery but there is a brown one and i'm not sure were it goes. I really need the help please email me on [email protected] if you can help. thanks

Can anyone point me towards a wiring diagram for a 1987 XT 225, please? I have a Haynes manual that covers 1989 onwards but the wiring is different. The first two years, '87 & 88, I believe, were kickstart only and the CDI had only six wires, later ones in the manual have starters and nine wires out of the CDI. I have had to replace the CDI with a modern unit and I tried to match wire colours, new with old, but it is apparently not that simple. Just to make things difficult, my bike is a Japanese grey import. After I get it running properly my first modification is to fit a big soft saddle to better fit my anatomy, twenty road miles is awful on the hard knobby…
