  1. Howdy folks. Just joined the club... And I have a few questions... I just got my hands on a nice FZ 750. I'm wondering; how does one upgrade the running gear on these easily? Are there any fatter rear wheels, shocks, forks etc. that fit with few or no mods? It's an '89 model, with the 3 spoke wheels. Here's one pic: http://www.skoop-tech.co.uk/pics/FZ750.jpg

Hi, As the topic title suggests I've got a 2007 R6 with 3.7k on the clock. Only during the down shift from 2 to 1st gear while the clutch is pulled in the engine completely dies on me. I've taken the bike back to the place where I got it from and was told that it was a fuel issue. I have since replaced the fuel from a different provider and the problem is still there. It only happens occasionaly and only when slowing down like when approaching a junction or a hazard and coming down through the gears. The bike is a stock model. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Firstly, hello everyone! This is my first post and already looking for somehelp.....sorry!! I am taking delivery of a 1989 FZR 1000 EXUP tomorrow (always wanted one!) and apart from the exup valve being seized it's really clean! So, to my first question.......where isbest place to find an EXUP valve (servo still fine)?? Also, would a FZR 400 valve work (as there seem to be a few of those about!!). Lastly,.....I've read the spec of the bike and it states the tyre sizes as front - 130/60/17 and rear 170/60/17. Can more commonly available tyre sizes fit....to get more choice?? Thanks very much all.........

Hey. ive got a 2003 yamaha YQ50 aerox. its worked fine and had new reed valves and piston rings about 5 months ago. i recently installed neons on the moped. they have a switch to turn them on and off on the negative wire leading to the batery. the other day i left my full beam lights on all night (although with engine off and no keys in ignition) and came out to a flat battery. it started on the kick so i took it out for a blast to give the battery a good charge. after driving for about 20 mins to the shop, the electric start still didnt work, it moved the starter motor but not fast enough to fire. how ever it did start on the kick. i got home to drop the s…

Have a '92 FJ1200 that I've owned since new (now 96,000 miles). Was running fine before washing the bike a few days ago & now it won't start. Engine turns over but the fuel pump just clicks once and is done. Any ideas?

  11. Hey everyone, I'm new here and I have my first Yamaha. I bought an FZR on the cheap in bits. It had almost everything with it I wanted on a custom bike. I can tell you now I am having some annoying but maybe not serious problems. First of all I had to re bleed the front brakes, that is sorted. The wiring loom wasnt earthed properly, horn didn't work, speedo wasnt wired up (electronic), headlight was still in the box, swingarm hadn't been fitted, radiator needed fitting and needed MOT. If you look at the pics you will see it is all going fairly well. The swingarms on, the lights are on, rad and all that jazz. I have a question though, are the 88 Genesis models su…

I have a 2005 Yamaha R6 with 4000 miles on it. I drove it for a couple miles and stopped to talk to somebody. I left the key in the on position, but the engine wasn't running. The electric fan came on and I wasn't paying any attention to it, and I'm not sure how long it ran, maybe 10 mins? Anyways, when I tried to re-start the bike, it made a buzzing sound. The gauges would come on, and reset itself, but it wouldn't even try to turn over, it just buzzed at me. I began pushing the bike home, and after about 10 mins I tried to start it again, and it cranked a little, but then it buzzed. I suppose after a while the batteries regain a little bit of juice, but not en…

I just got my bike today. When I got there, there were ashes, cobwebs and such all over it. Doesn't even have any fairings on it. I have the ability to work on cars, but I have no idea how to work on bikes. Is there a checklist I should run through maintenance wise? (Did I mention I broke down in the middle of traffic today?) Also, any miscellaneous info about the XJ600 would be great. I got it mainly as a beater bike, but if I can eventually restore it to it's former brand-new glory, I'll be a happy man.

There's a full Micron system on the FZR i've bought. I started to fiddle with the fairing, noticed some fixings missing. Upon further investigation, i noticed that the brackets where the bolt positions would be aren't there. Assume these have been removed or were part of the exhaust system. I'll fabricate something up to allow securing of the fairing, tho also looks like the panels have been trimmed at the rear to allow clearance for the system. Anyone else encountered similar?

Hi, I was hoping someone here could help. I'm looking for replacement downpipes for a Yamaha FZ600 88 model. I'm having no look finding any at breakers or on fleebay. Does anyone know of a company that stock replacements? Or failing that is there another make/model that can be converted for use with a 1988 model? Or as a last resort does anyone know of a metal shop that can fabricate some. Cost is of course a concern. I am toying with buying a secondhand bike and stripping it for parts but I begrudge taking apart a working bike for the sake of a couple of parts. surely it can't be impossible to get hold of an exhaust system even if the bike is 21 years old. …

Hi everyone, This is my first post on the forum and i was wondering if anyone has had any sucess using a 150 / 60 18 rear tyre on a 91 model FZR600. I have had the bike since new and as anyone who owns an FZR with 18 inch rear its getting real hard to get decent tyres. I changed the front tyre size years ago to 120 / 70 17 which greatly improved the bikes cornering when hitting into tight ones at speed (stops it trying to stear itself) I have the bike stripped to the frame at the moment giving it a major birthday (new everything) Hope some one has some feedback on this. Bye the way has anyone changed the rear to a 17inch rim??
