Hi, I’ve always fancied an old classic bike. I’ve always liked the look of the old Triumphs, Nortons or the Francis Barnett as rode by Nick in Heartbeat! This is probably what attracted me in part to the Yamaha SR 125 as my first bike. I also notice that many people on here have bikes from ‘73 and so forth. Anyway, I was wondering are these bikes still practical as a main bike, day-to-day ride around, or only really workable as a weekend pleasure bike? Take for example the following bike: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRANCIS-BARNETT-FALCON-199CC-CRACKING-RIDE-PLEASE-WATCH-THE-VIDEO-/321068073640?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item4ac12602a8 Is this something you co…

Decided to get a 125 2T. I really fancy a Cagiva Mito. It will only be used in a weekend through the summer then put into storage. My bike is really slow and I want something a bit faster for me to get used too. I'm going to do my test in the summer. This will give me chance to save enough money to get a 6/12 month old 600.

  3. Hi all, DT was running majorly lean from when I bought it so after a month of riding it melted the exhaust side of the piston, grey/white deposits in the engine etc, needless to say the barrell took a beating, I want to keep the rebuild as cheap as poss so want to rebore. I have found a couple of companies but not sure of the quality of their work.. I have all the ability at work to machine the bore oversize but not to hone it ( don't have a hone big enough ), I also have the ability to measure it all to the Nth degree, which I intend to do after the job is done. I don't mean to sound anal about it but I want to get the job done right because I want the most o…

Well after the breaking in period of my top end rebuild my little dtr isn't running like it was... I'll try to explain as best I can. Bike pulls away perfect up to and beyond powerband 1st,2nd however I notice in 3rd its not revving up to the line a little hesitant then 4th is the same I can't open full throttle as I get a "burrrrrrwaaaahhhhhhh" like its wanting air drop off the throttle a little and away it pulls again same in 5th I don't even get into 6th as I can't get her into the powerband enough in 5th so 6th just drops off the revs. I've cleaned out the petrol tap and fitted new washers etc, run through full tank of petrol with wurth 2 stroke additive, cleane…

Hi Guys , Just trying to get back into LCs and have been looking around and have been offered a bike but the engine and frame numbers dont match but I have read some where that that did happen when some bikes were built. Perhalps you could shed some light on it. The bike was registered in the UK in 87-88 It is a 1WT type ( I took photos of the frame number but they are not clear, I will take some more when I can ) But has the engine number 31K-054478 Is there any chance that this is a genuine bike and not had an engine change. Regards Martin

So after the incident where a driver reversed into me last year, I finally had my bike repaired. New fairing bracket and headlamp units etc. Now the guy at the workshop ended up tightening up every screw on the head unit when he assembled it for me. I only noticed something was wrong when I rode back home at night and I was lighting up every road sign on the A12 like a Boeing 747 coming in for a landing. I know where and how to adjust the headlight units, but I would like to know if anyone knows the specification of the actual beam projected? I know that if your headlamps are under 85cm you only need to drop the beam edge by 2-5cm at about 12 foot away. What…

Hey, was just wanting to pick a few of your heads over this. Its getting colder here up in Glasgow, Scotland as some of you may be experiencing. I was looking for increased protection mainly for my hands and for my upper body. I know i can lean into my bike for some protection but i was wondering if there was something more if i didn't want to fully lean in. I dont like the bike's touring screen so was looking for something different. Also i was looking for some more protection for my hands, i've though about muffs but i've been told they are quite dangerous and can sometimes catch on the brake and clutch leavers. I was wondering what you winter hardened bikers do for…

so, the previous owner of my 05 DT125RE was a bit of a wally and has screwed the air mix screw too tight and ended up shearing off any sort of groove for my screwdriver. I have just come off the phone from my local yam dealer and we had a great laugh at a new carb being over 400 quid! So I am now searching the internet for a second hand one but I am unsure what year/models will fit my bike. also any suggestions for good sites to look at would be much appreciated or even if anyone on here is selling one or knows someone who is. all help much appreciated!!

Hi, Have just got a 175C (white tank/red stripe), need some help please, Does anyone know if an exhaust P/N 437-14753-02-00 will fit the above bike? Some people say yes others say it will only fit the 175A or B models - I thought basically all three were the same? Thanks in advance.

Hello Guys Well I done it, took my bike test back in October 2012 on WR125x and passed and now I have a XJ6N with a restrictor fitted. When the time comes I will want to remove restrictor, is this an easy job to do, or will I have to take bike to a Yamaha dealer? Any help would be much appreciated.

Just had a new tyre fitted, a vee rubber that cost about £45. Straight away I noticed the difference from my BT 45. I don't feel safe on it and my confidence has dropped massively going round corners. I didn't want a cheap shitty tyre fitting. It's going to have to come off.

Hi. Having trouble finding a replacement throttle cable or cables for my xvs125 Dragstar, have tried e-bay etc but can only find one set of used and he's wanting £21 the cost of a new set Theres only the open cable snapped fhe shut offs ok and dont fancy fitting a set of used ones which could be on there way out.. Can any one advise me of an online dealership who stock them. Ive tried every where but tinternet just keeps giving me the run arround. leading me back to e-bay and for some reason a xvs starter cable and the second hand ones. Is there any other model of 125s that use the same cables or even cable (open not shutoff cable) that is compatable? If so…
