Hi people, I've been creeping round the forum for ages but never needed to post, thanks for all your ideas before and hopefully someone has some yamamagic tips lol.... bought a non runner 08 xt125r, did the top end rebuild using all genuine parts... the barrel was within spec and not warped. only thing I noticed was the second ring gap was about 0.05 mm too small, but hey I installed it anyway.... had reset the carb to stock settings... new oil... she fired up straight away, 75psi compression, but after going ride for about 5 mins it felt crazy hot so came home checked temp it was 130C.... now ive set the pilot mix 2.5 turns …

Folks See pic, 2MG cylinder head, the hole circled in red pen. What is this for? Any idea? A tell tale? There is one each side. I have a very, very, very, slight coolant leak out of one of the holes only, clutch side of engine. Machine does not run hot at all. Fine on a long run. It is not chucking coolant out of there, but leaking never the less. Just want to know what is up this hole! Doubt it should be leaking from there anyway. Is it an indication of a head gasket going?. BR, Julian

Hi I have recently bought a Yamaha r6 2003 plate. When I got it home after a couple of days the bike wouldn't start. It was like the battery had gone. I replaced the battery and it was working fine. I then gave the bike a wash and went to start it and it was just clicking. I know it's a new battery but any idea what else it could be? Thanks mario

Well, the weathers certainly picked up these last couple of days. Loads of bikes out today, took both mine out yesterday, the cruiser in the morning, the fazer in the afternoon, bit cool on the legs after and hour or so, but no big deal. Was going to ride out to Newark autojumble tomorrow, Motorcycle News says its on, but good job I checked the jumble website, that says its next week. Just need to stock up on consumables (tiewraps etc) used through the year. Off to Stafford again next month, likely on the saturday, Im at donny on the monday for road bikes only trackday, hoping to get down to 2 minute lap time. id be well chuffed. Centre stand off this time, and ive "…

Went out with the daughter yesterday, not the most auspicious start as the first stop was for fuel just outside the next village. And my wallet was in my normal jeans I had changed out of, Doh, daughter had to wait there while I went back. Think I'm going to be hearing about that one for a while. Otherwise got out did some of the better bike roads with some high speed stuff then turned off into the back country, old 16th century villages and single track roads around the edge of the county working back. Only around 60 miles but with the country stuff (some 10mph) we were out maybe 3 hours all told and we were both suffering with numb backsides by the time we pulled u…

Spent most of yesterday evening dismantling my carbs you wouldn't believe what a job it is just to remove and get them back on the bike. After the usual removal of the tank & seat I need to take the battery the ICU & reg off, take off all the fixing bolts from the airbox then this is the good bit cos I used to struggle for over an hour to get the carbs in out until I realised I can get an extra inch space if I remove 2 bolts from the rear mudguard. So why am I telling you all this boring stuff! because as I reassembled it, I pushed one of the air box bolts in and hear the nut drop inside so l opened it up as it three screws I didn't need to touch to remove the fix…

  9. Seen this on eBay, looks great for a hot day and looks like it would protect skin which would touch the ground if you come off, would you say it's okay to just wear this and be pretty much protected from roadrash etc? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-S-M-Acerbis-KOERTA-2-0-Body-Armour-Motocross-BMX-Downhill-Enduro-/142234104223? It can become a pain commuting to work or other places and needing to wear the massive jacket or trousers with the knee pads, would be great to just throw some armour on over normal jeans and have it cover areas which contact the ground in a slide.

Hey guys - I've taken the opportunity to go camping this weekend - first time with the F800GT. Absolutely loving the fact it has luggage (compared with my Street Triple). Left Surrey this morning and took the minor roads up to a regular campsite of mine near Buxton. Weather is holding out so far. I've not had the greatest start to 2017 - so quite frankly it's just nice to chill at a campsite today, but tomorrow I'll head off for a bimble around and about (so any of my lovely Mancunian-based buddies feel free to give me a shout!). The bike is performing well so far - I was able to pack for a somewhat luxurious camping trip (chair, walking gear, all my food/drink …

  11. Hi Noob here with a question. My previous ride got stolen and I am considering buying a very nice '04 XVS 650 Classic. It has only 40,000 km (~25,000 miles) on the clock, has a full service history and looks very well maintained. What should I look for before closing the deal?

Hey, just trying to order some nuts and bolts for the Aprilia and got myself in a cunfuxed state. I know bikes are nominally metric fine, but! I don't actually know what that is . Im seeing 0.8 coarse, 0.8 fine etc. But then there is 1.0 and 1.25 also in both coarse and fine. Feels a stupid question but what do I actually want. I have just got generic catchall kits for UJM in the past, never really thought about what metric fine was as such.

Had to drop some stuff for my auld bike off at the powdercoaters. As you know I hate riding in the rain, but no choice today. The only (main) road out of this place was closed due to a large fire so all the rat runs would be clogged up therefore the car was a non starter. So off i set on a heavy rain/hail shower which lasted about 10 miles. After that it dried up all the way there and back (including an unscheduled detour when I got lost in Paisley), but the wind was fekking howling especially on the way home where about 25miles of M-Way riding was spent just trying to keep the bike upright.

As title suggests my bike xv125 has recently returned from a bad garage who seemed to make my bike unridable, one thing I have noticed when I pull the clutch in a loud single click is heard from the relays behind side panel, and pretty sure it's from one of the relays, anyone know why it would suddenly start doing this

Hi, I have a DT 175 (Year around 2000) that I want to clean the carby because its running rough. How does one remove the 2 stroke oil line connected to the carb, so one can dismantle on the bench? It seems to be connected with a non-removable clamp around the actual oil line. Thanks in advance Steve

Ok so yesterday I asked some questions about the vmax and got the answers I needed. The HD vRod is out the window and I will be buying a vmax. However I have a question on rear wheels that some vmax lovers may know the answer. How do I put a bigger wider rear tyre on the vmax, what wheels do I need as limited to shaft drive? I'd like a 180 on the rear, does anyone know how to achieve this?
