After seeing that they were closing down I went to my local shop in Bradford. I was disapointed. After seeing tales of bargains that had been had by other people I was expecting to get a nice pair of boots and whatever else took my fancy. For a start the shop I went to was had only reduced items by 30% and the choice was very limited. It was mainly all the top end gear which even after a 30% reduction was still out of my price range. Did any one on here manage to get any bargains?

I want to repaint the 2 sidepanels on my 1981 XT250 but am struggling to get a code, prefer a RAL so I can get an aerosol made up. Have tried Ford Diamond white but is a mile away from the tank white. I presume the white on the tank has faded after 32 yrs so it may be prudent taking it to my local paint place and doing a physical match against the tank. Any other ideas folks? Also, a picture I've got shows YAMAHA decals to both sidepanels but cos its a b&w pic can't tell colour etc. Are these still available? All suggestions most welcomed.

  6. Just this week I rebuilt the motor of this exact model of bike. I bought it pretty cheap because someone had broken the piston rings. So I just put the rings in, and the bike fired right up. Next day, being yesterday, it wouldnt. I checked for spark but got small white sparks. So following clymers manual, started checking resistance. The book gives me resistance values for a m100-08 magneto, but my magneto is m100-16. Are the values going to be the same? Theres a red/white to black test which should have no resistance, but I am getting infinite resistance there. Is that my issue? Not sure how to proceed. Thanks to anyone who can offer some advice

If your out there lord I need help. I'm trying to get an old bike running for my grandson. The bike is for off road only, no electrical system other than ignition. In regards to timing a 1971 DT1F Yamaha and I have the following questions please: -I have an ignition base with points and condensor that 2 of the 3 wound wire coils have been removed. Is this because only 1 winding is needed to fire the ignition? I asume since there are no lights or battery the other wound coils were removed? -There are 3, wires soldered to the condensor, 1 going to the points, 1 from the wound coil and the other is loose. I think it should go directly to the ignition coil. Is that co…

Hello, I plan to get tyres for my YBR, probably going for Michelin Pilot Sporty. I considered fitting them myself and seen Youtube vidz etc. Also watched vidz on wheel balancing and here's the Q. Why not balance the wheel on it's own axle, in the forks and with the calipers removed? I'm just wondering how it differs from taking the wheel off to put on a contraption.

Hi all. I have an 09 Midnight Star 1300, I was cleaning it today and noticed ripples going across the width of the top of the headlight surround, it appears that the headlight surround is being compressed or twisted in some way. Has any other owners had the same effect happen to them?
