  1. As a cret...novice when it comes to all things TDR..my last 2 stroke, a 1968 YDS5E back in 1972...yes I'm really THAT old! Could anybody guide me through the main reasons why I ought to wear stout walking boots and have a fully paid up road recovery membership in operation? Did the TDR have an achilles heel and are there any warning signs I ought to be aware of? Much thanks in anticipation of your recommendation that it'll be a fine trans continental tourer..ahem.. Cheers bonnietiler

Only reason I ask is that it was my first bike. Was a white one, usual gold wheels and had an Autisa 65cc kit. Was taxed up until march this year. Got fond memories of my first taste of proper freedom. Last time i saw it was when I traded it in at a dealership in Maidstone, Kent for an RD125LC back in 1989, christ, now i feel old . Looked exactly like this:

Hi everyone I recently had a moment of clarity whilst unloading my recently aquired DT out of the back of my lpg converted kia... stako currently make a 7 litre lpg tank which is roughly the same size as a topbox, and i have also aquired a second DT for parts, but now I'm thinking, could I convert a DT to lpg? How would a two-stroke engine react to the change? As ever, any input appreciated -foamy

Well I have now been a member of this forum for one month and I have been riding for a month. In the intro on the new members page I did mention that the light on YBR was not good in the morning. So I have changed it for a better one, it is still 35w but gives a better spread and quality of light. It is not the best light in the world but it is better than the standard one. The bike is going well and currently doing about 115 mpg. Bear in mind most of the riding is down lanes and small roads with only a few street lights on the way to work in the morning. It's not such a problem as I only see 4 other cars on the way in most of the time. There is always the odd one b…

just fitted my new CooCase Wizard to the little YBR http://www.ghostbikes.com/products/luggage-top-cases-and-side-cases/4802-coocase-v36-wizard-luxury-topcase-36l-(v36-ll).html]LINKY has anyone else ever fitted a powered top case? i found the electrical stuff to be far too fiddly to do without any instructions at all (except a bit in the manual that explains what each colour wire is... nothing about where the "brake" wire goes) anyways, i managed to get the baseplate on without a problem (had to enlist my brother though... 2 hands aren't enough), then got to work running the cables under the seat space to the battery... only to find that the positive wire is too…

after 6 months with my bike in teh garage, getting on and off the centre stand at least once a day, ive managed to start wearing away my concrete floor in the garage i found one solution is to place a floor plate down http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/74424]like this, but i can only seem to find such a product for a side stand, and it's not wide enough to take a centre stand has anyone else found a solution, preferably one that can also hide the dirty marks ive left behind (the pains is worn away, and theres some little holes where the concrete itself has been worn away thanks people!

I have just realised just how much money I have spent on my bike. Everytime I see something on eBay I cannot resist buying it. I have just bought a new bash plate and foot pegs. Really I didn't need either. I am selling my bike in March so the person who gets it after me will be getting a really good bike which has had no expense spared. I have nearly spent what I paid for the bike in parts, extras and labour. I want ti to be a really nice bike to look at, ride, and to function perfectly, but all my time, expense, and hard work is just going to benefit the person who gets her next. I think I'm finished buying extra's for her now. From now on it is just needs must basis.

hey fellas, just a quick one (not STRICTLY motorcycle related, but its close enough) when you are signalled to pull over by a police officer in a vehicle, how should you go about stopping? should you pull over onto double yellows or go a little further to where theres a more appropriate spot? i only ask because its a criminal offence not to stop, and also a criminal offence to stop where its not legal (such as on double yellows) thanks

Hey guys, so I'm counting down the days until I get to collect my YBR125 at the end of this week! It's been such a long passion of mine to ride motorbikes, but before I knew it work, cars and a house got in the way.... Anyway, here I am at 27, getting my first bike! I can't wait to get out and practice so I can work towards my full licence next year. So, help inspire me to get the most out of my (speed devil) 125, and share some cool stories about your first bikes - what was your first bike? Did you go on any mammoth trips? Find yourself riding in crazy weather for the first time? Etc... I'm hoping I'll be able to share my own stories in the not too distant fut…

All went well unitl I went to test them out and noticed I have a significant delay in coming to a stop once the front brake is applied. Anyone have this issue and a resolution?

hello again people. im toying with the idea of changing the light setup on the rear of my bike, at the moment its completely standard (dt125r) and the indicators are like fog lights off a mk1 fiesta "there massive" also the rear light and plate bracket look horrible and bulky. im looking at a tail tidy and some small LED indicators, but with my dt the rear light is part of the plastic plate hanger - ive seen a few dt's where the rear light is on top of mudgaurd where as mine is below and again its massive i think this is to make way for the rack (which i want to keep to strap my jerry can onto for green lainging) i would like a small slimline rear brake light i can…

hopefully, nobody has been there, but it can happen to anyone i recently ran out of engine RIGHT AFTER my 4000 mile service. i had ridden the YBR home, got changed, and set off to work. the bike stalled strangely as i accelerated away from a set of lights (didnt stop moving), started the bike up again, then lost all power 200 yards later. then i was stuck on a 50mph road, just after a roundabout, with high kerbs keeping me from bumping up, and no drop kerb for another 100 yards. i decided that the engine was in fact dead, and pushed it to the nearest drop kerb (not behind me at the roundabout, i want forward 100 yards), made a couple of calls, then set off home, …

Hi everyone, having a bit of an issue with my newly aquired TZR125... I knew it had been stood for 3 years before I bought it, so I decided that before trying to fire it up I would drain the tank and clean out the carb. The carb was full of a sticky snot like substance, which I managed to eventually clean out. However the tank appears to have been filled with an epoxy tank liner at some stage which has obviously been partly dissolved by the fuel. This had also caused the gunge in the carb (as well as reed valves). I have managed to get most of it out, but there is still one big lump still in there. What is the best way of removing the lump? I don't want to damage…
