Has anyone ever experienced a mis/backfire and done all the usual, carb clean, replace plug, etc, but nothing changed, the fault was still there. I have read in some forums, of this, and the fault turned out to be the CDI unit. Could this be true and if so any ideas of where its best to look for a CDI for an M plate SR 125 unit. My unit is an early model with 2 * 4 way connectors. The ones I see on e-bay are 1 * 6 & 1 * 2 way connectors. Any help greatly apprciated. Thanks

What's that old saying - 'If at first you don't suceed' - hmm in my case about 100 try agains . I finally got an image on my profile - to be honest I'm not entirely sure how i did it! It could have been imageshack OR photobucket - But then that other old gem - 'So close but so far' seriously rears its head. I don't seem to be able to crop or rotate the image - can anyone explain how? maybe its not possible? cheers frustrated from Devon.

I have two different carberators. The one that came with the bike initially had the bike running a bit gunky and it flooded the carb and was always leaking. I purchased a overhaul kit but all the pieces I received were incorrectly sized. They were all to big. I called a small owner repair-man and asked him to look at my machine and he couldn't get it work. I ended up buying a drop-in, new carb to put in. Now no matter what i do with this new larger carb (the pieces from the overhaul kit fit this carb) it always runs wide open. I am not sure if the bike is just a differnt year, or if it is a failed project. The serial number is 3J0-002414 I haven't been able …

Hi all, been riding round on my xv125 and a question is bugging me ( this is probably the start of a really dumb-ass question ). When I bought it the bike had a kph speedo with relevant stickers on at the kph equivalent of 30mph 50mph and 70.I bought a converter which works fine and is far easier to read but, does this alter the odometer , does it still measure kilometres - I know if I spent a bit of time I could probably work it out but if anyone knows the answer I'd be grateful. The reason I've taken to thinking about this is I've got my mod2 in two weeks and I cant afford to keep the xv and buy a bigger bike as well, so to save confusion when I put it up for sale I'd li…

Just treated myself to a new lid, the old one was showing its age. Padding losing its grip and the material around the base and the straps was showing its age. Its been everything from red hot in the summer (?) sun to frozen shut (the visor) in the freeze. And of course wet, very fucking wet at times. As well as nearing 6 years old. So its making way for a Shark Evoline 3, the new one. VERY nice. Fits lovely (Well the one i tried in the shop near me before i went ebaying), glasses seem ok, time will tell on that. Best bit, with some haggling and some internet time i got over 70quid off. Come on Mr postman..............

Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting hard panniers for my commuting fazer. Trouble is, she's a 99 model and I'm having real problems finding a wingrack that suits. I already have a givi top box mounted on the usual plate along with monorack arms but I'm thinking I will need to remove those to use the wingrack for any panniers. Any ideas?? I've been using soft panniers and they're alright but a pain in the backside when it comes to security. Cheers .......

Hi, I have a Yamaha YZF R1 1999 model I can tell from the headlights that the bike must have been a grey import, Im guessing from the temperature gauge being in fahrenheit that the bike was originally for America. Im trying to check that the engine number is correct to the chassis number and probably because the bike is an import motorverse.com does not recognise it. The bike has been registered in this country since 1999 and have owned it myself since Feb 2008. Would be grateful for any pointers as to where to look to find out more information. Thanks Dale

Just got a brand spanking new YZF-R125 and now trawling through the insurance ocean for a decent quote. Anybody got any recommendations for a 20 year old with his first bike. I've had some ridiculous quotes but figured I should get some sound feedback on this forum. Thanks Chrisbob

Hey guys - if you've got a loose gear level, kick start etc do yourself a huge favour and tighten it up correctly before you ride again. If you strip a spline on an engine/gearbox shaft get ready for a nasty ££ surprise and a load of agro . Some of you may have seen or even bought a bike where the problem has been 'fixed'/bodged' by welding the lever to the shaft - the problem then gets worse when there's an engine casing that needs to come off. My old TY had a loose gearlever because it couldn't be tightened up anymore as the pinch gap the alan screw tightens had fully closed. This is an aftermarket lever - not uncommon on off road bikes as its one of the…

Just seen a BEAUTIFUL bike and thought id share, as I cant afford it anyway. Went to a little breakers in Herne Bay, and he has a Virago 750 that hes restored, he showed me pics of the state it was in when it came in, and hes done an amazing job. If anyone is down that way, worth a look. Just to make clear, this is not a selling post, I have nothing to do with the sale or the seller - was just too good not to share!

Right i have been thinking about getting shot of Betty and building a complete one off bobber thing by getting a crashed bike then getting a frame made and all that stuff, so i have found a guy up in Scotland who builds frames and i have found this site with loads of bikes: http://www.moto-brea...c/info.php?p=11 So what one do you guys think has the best engine to build this monster and also what do you guys know about the legal side of things of getting it on the road? as what im doing must come under say a "KIT CAR" type thingy? I basically wanna go for a low drag bike/street fighter/ angry bobber type monster, some thing like what the munsters or Franken…
