  1. Started by sceptic,

Hi. Im new to this forum n BULA from Fiji. Have a 2013 R1 purchased new from USA n done about 5000 miles n in very good condition. however was parked for some time n battery was sluggish so tried to jump start from another vehicle with engine running. It cranked over well but did not start. After many attempts inclusive of fuel changes, visual inspection, replacement new battery, fuse inspection etc, still would not start. The fuel pump goes n cranks over smartly n can smell petrol too while cranking.no fault codes n all diagnostic cheks ok. So removed tank and other bits to get to plugs which did not have ignition spark.Plugs ok n no spark on any coil. However 13V regist…

  2. Hi all Could someone clarify the rules regarding what exactly shows control of your motorcycle during Element C of the CBT please.... Just gone for one on Saturday and they had us doing a slalom through cones, the same as on the Mod 1 test. Checked the Gov.uk page for the syllabus of CBT, and it makes no mention of a slalom, but I am unsure if it is a required section or is my instructor just trying to get more money out of me for 'the extra training required to pass' - given my partner also couldn't do the same slalom on her CBT with the same company a week ago? Maybe it IS a required element, but seems a bit complex for complete novices to be …

  3. Started by slice,

So as above I have bought a pair of these things for the FJR, my thinking being if you want loud go large. BUT what I did not realise is that the poxy things need 5.2volts to the horn NOT the 3.2volts that the bike provides for the standard horns through the loom! So you have to buy another bespoke loom from Denali to make them work (bugger). But my main problem is how do I make the existing horn button work with the new horns if I have to by-pass the existing loom? I have 4 connectors that go to the original horns and the horn button which is effectively just a breaker in the line to the horns, is it possible to use the horn button to power the new horns and if so how? C…

I thought I had bought a scoot for the daughter, needing nothing more than some spit and polish and maybe a mild de restrict went to collect. Nope sold to somebody else, sob story of forgot/my partner sold it….. Anyway, calmed down after that and now have an Aprilia sr50(ish), does have an 'oversize' piston. Bike is ok in the main. The engine.....hmmm spanners are getting dirty, really dirty. I should not be surprised at the state of learner bikes but I don't recall any of 'us' in my day doing some of the stupid shit you see on these scooters. Drive belt on backwards, the arrows are clear enough to see. No starter gear, just gone, removed, these things onl…

My 2000 'cat started running rough last spring after it came out of hibernation (I run it once a month or so through winter). I've replaced filters and plugs with no joy, and had carbs balanced Today removed coils to test and to of the plug caps are 12k Ohms instead of 10 (the other two are just over 10). Would this be enough to cause problems? (The coils and leads appear to be spot on) Two years ago I fitted a new exhaust (Motad pipe, Fuel 'can) and took it from Cumbria to South Wales and back with no problems, but I suppose it might have worked loose. Another possible problem? Any suggestions?

  7. Started by jimmy,

A cold but sunny day up here on the West Coast so nowt else for it but a wee run out on my Hinckley Bonnie. Went my usual (favourite) route up over some minor roads and down into Largs for chips and a coffee. Rinsed the bike off on completion. If only I wan't working earlies tomorrow I'd have a couple of beers to finish off a grand day out

Anyone going this year? 16th to the 20th November I think, thought I might as well go again cos if we do go to Italy then there might be some kit worth buying and they have some strange stalls there that don't seem to be found anywhere else plus year before last there was a stall for motorcycle TREKKING which might be worth a look. I might go on the 18th as it's a Monday and as I'm retired and old I can get a cripple parking space (I do have a blue badge) and a cheap ticket!

Hello all, So ill start with giving you a little back story Ive recently just done my CBT and im looking to get my first bike (YamahaYS 125 used) There has been none in my local area for a while now and ive been considering biting the bullet and getting one delivered from down south, one has popped up that i really like and dealership has been great in sending me pictures and information but i asked for a video of the bike running and riding and he said "I won’t be able to send you a video of it running though, as it needs a new lock set. The keys have been misplaced and we can’t find them. So the bike will have a brand new ignition and whole new lock set."is this …

Hey , My 1991 SR125 Custom Will work perfectly in the morning but when I finish work it won’t run, it starts but then it does like a fuel starvation noise and then cut out! Any ideas please guys?

  16. Started by neversaydie,

Had a good day out at Donny Park a couple of weeks ago, Ive really been lucky with the weather the last 3 to 4 years. Put myself up into inters this year, reckon Im pretty close to the limit of this bike/rider combination. If I lean any more, the bottom of the fairing lifts the contact off the rear I reckon. The sliders I made to cover the hole I wore through last year need changing, but they did the job

Hi, I have recently acquired a DT400 import and am in the process of trying to register it. I sent photos of the frame number and engine number to Yamaha UK along with the incomplete white sticker on the headstock however they say they cannot give me an aging certificate because the sticker is not complete to varify the month it was made ! What should I do ???
