Hi Guys, just joined after purchasing a XJ900f - 30+ years after buying my first one and touring Germany on it. Never touched that one. Just checked tyre pressures and oil level then rode it there and back and it never missed a beat. Got this one (in a very sad state) as a winter project for 21/22 and plan on doing all the work myself (with the help of YouTube😂) I can offer MIG welding if anyone needs it + I can spray paint in my workshop. The only help I can see I will need is a special socket(?) to undo the handlebars as none of my sockets will fit. Cheers and safe riding👍🤞

im busy restoring a yzf750 1995. the cams were out when i bought it and had been placed in a box with other bits. iv put the camshafts back in but when i torque them up the cams will not turn. so im wondering if the head has warped [ i can not see any sign of it] iv also noticed 2 of the pistons have a slight crack in them ,, over heated may be ? the bike is a 4fm and the cam case is stamped with 3gm. could this be the reason why the cams will not turn and are to tight, wrong casing for 4fm cams? or are fz and yzf parts all interchangeable ? also i can get a good thunderace 1000 head and cams but will these fit a yzf 750 barrels ? any help would be very great full …

Hi, first post (new member) .... Please can somebody help me out ..... Does anybody have a copy of the manufacturer Specification data sheet for a FZS600 / 1999? (pdf /downloadable, please) OR, copy of an original sales brochure?? I have taken my Fazer to Italy (5yrs ago), trying to register it with an Italian number plate. The local vehicle authority office (vehicle licencing etc) has asked for this document for them to proceed with the paperwork. Originally, they required a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) – NOT available for my bike. Only available for bike year 2000+. They (Italy) have now accepted this email (result). Now they keep asking f…

Hi folks, I’m looking for some advice on increasing an XV125 to a 250cc My plan is to swap the cylinders and pistons to 49mm bore set. The rest of the bike is pretty much the same as the 250 model so I don’t foresee any big issues. Question: Will I also need to change the con rods? Or will the existing 125 con rods work? Are there any other factors I should be aware of? Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Philip

Hello everybody, I have a Yamaha 650XVS Dragstar which has been converted to a Trike. I bought a brand new all singing, all dancing battery for it a couple of months ago as the old battery was not designed for starting engines (I know nothing.) I've been using the Trike twice a week since then, the last ride out was Monday when it was extremely hot. I wanted to go for a run on Thursday but when I turned the key in the slot I got no reaction whatsoever. No neutral light, no engine warning light and no lights on the trike as usually happened. I checked the battery with a multi meter and got a 0.03v reading. I jump started the engine and when idling got 12.5v …

I have recently acquired a 1985 sr500. It has sat idle for around 12 years and whilst it starts, it doesn’t run so a carb clean is required. However, whilst sat at idle I have noticed an oil leak in the vicinity of the collector box(?) on the exhaust. It could be from above this but not sure. What I am looking for is a diagram showing the engine/ exhaust (exploded or perhaps workshop diagram) that I can use to identify parts and problem areas as I am new to bikes. I also need a reliable source for spares, the bike is an import on a 2J2 frame number that the local Yamaha dealer has failed to identify. many thanks in advance. Richard

So, since I bought my Thunderace 2.5 years ago, my poor old Vauxhall Vectra has had hardly any use. For the last Year and a half it's just sat sadly outside the house (on the drive) SORNed. It's beyond my personal skillset to put right, so I am donating it free of charge to Wakefield Technical College (Automotive Department), where it will spend the next 2-3 years being taken apart and put back together and so on by the Mechanic Students... But we've run into a snag... They have someone that can come and pick it up on one of his own trailers, but they've got a couple of people self isolating and they have no one that can stand in and take his classes wh…

I am midway through building a bobber and after reading forums, I am very confused about the laws regarding them.. So far what has been done: Rear suspension replaced with 9 1/2 inch solid struts Sprung Solo Seat Drag Handlebars Handlebar mounted front indicators Ignition / Kill switch rewired to the side of the motorcycle Left side mounted number plate and brake light Silvertail exhausts Removed Chain Guard Removed Front Sprocket Guard Removed Front Fender Most of the responses that I have seen all just say "it depends on what mood the copper is in" Any advice? Thanks

Hello all, I have an original 1993 YZF750R that had a seized exup valve. I removed this and servo, made up a small circuit board of resistors and diodes and plugged into ECU. Problem is, the bike now boggs down until 3,500 RPM, after this she flys all the way through to red line, but in this mode, likely to lose my licence very quickly. Any tips or ideas on how to get over the issue, and make it a user friendly bike across all RPM ? Thanks DeanoYZF

I bought a 1980 Yamaha DT 125g that was running well before but the carb was dumping fuel out the overflow so I tried replacing gaskets and needle valves etc. eventually I put a new carb on and fixed the fuel issue but now whenever the bike is idling and I try to give it throttle at about 3000rpm the rpms will stick and stay there. When I get it even higher sometimes it will shoot up to 7000rpm after I release it. One time the bike even did it on its own. The only way I can stop it is by turning the bike off completely. It doesn’t feel like the throttle is really sticking and I even lubed the whole mechanism up. Does anyone have a clue as to how I can fix this?
