I was in Hereford the other day, and saw some spotty little twat on a little 50cc thing. No....not ScrapedPlastic....it was a different spotty little twat! Anyway...it was a warm sunny day, so this dickhead was riding round with T shirt, shorts, and flip-flops on! But what was so unusual about this particular twat was that in spite of wearing literally nothing, he was still obviously still safety conscious! Because he was also wearing a pair of footballers shinguards on his legs! I kid you not....I was there! 8) Future Power Ranger in the making I would say!

I must be a bad influence or a trend setter. Just had an e-mail: Two of the three people who I toured Scotland with a couple of weeks ago have gone out and got themselves XT660Rs. One has chopped in his CBR600 and the other (I was shocked) his Africa Twin. This speaks volumes for the impression my XT's performance must have left on them. Mark (Africa Twin) hasn't even waited until 54 Reg day - too impatient. Now, I ask myself, why hasn't Steve got rid of his Deauville?

14Aug04 marks 33 years since Jack Findlay made history in the MotoGP World Championship as the first man ever to win a 500cc race on a two-stroke motorcycle. Findlay’s victory at the Ulster GP on the 14th August 1971, riding a Suzuki 500  built by himself and Danielle Fontana, was the first of victory of a 28 year career which saw the Australian race well into his 40s, establishing a reputation as one of the best privateer riders in the history of the sport. Findlay, who had twice captured the unofficial title of best privateer in the 500cc class in 1966 and 1968, was a keen devotee to the Isle of Man - a race he went on to win in 1972, riding a water-cooled…

Hopefully everyone will at some point be lucky enough to buy a brand new bike. Most will at least buy "nearly new". As you will know, nowadays most bikes come with a two Year warranty. What you might not know is this: The Sales Of Goods Act says that goods should work properly for SIX years from the time of purchase. This, your Statutory Rights, are not advertised by any industry. As bikes are gradually becoming more and more poorly put together, it is worth knowing that you can keep your dealer working for years to finish building the bike that you have just bought properly. Yes Pete! Even Suzukis have been known to go wrong  You can download your r…

Hiya peeps. I'm off on holiday for a week tomorrow, it will be my first "longish" ride ( going to cromer ) So i guess i'll find out what the bikes like on a longer run, what with all the tapping etc, (but i've been told by a pro that it's fine so i'll give it a shot) but i have full brakedown cover so it should be fine either way Sadly i don't have a digi cam so i can't take any pictures (it's the next thing on my list) . But i'll let you all know how it went when i get back. Ahhh a week off work. Thank f**k for that :hbang Oh and i just heard that monday and tuesday is going to be really crap weather, nevermind as long as i stay dry going there …

Proton Team KR have revealed that they will test a MotoGP engine built by Austrian manufacturers KTM in a private test after the Grande Premio Marlboro de Portugal next month. Team Manager Chuck Aksland insisted that no permanent deal has been struck between the team and KTM, but said the partnership was a viable option for the future if results from the test are positive. “We have the chassis almost completed and ready for the test at Estoril,” confirmed Aksland. “The engine has performed well on the dyno but we want to evaluate it in a chassis, which will be interesting from our point of view and for KTM. “We are looking at our options for the future and KTM is on…

My other half went to Snetterton yesterday to help out some friends who where racing an R1. When I went to get my bike out I dicovered that all the important bits (you know the levers, rearsets etc) where missing. I rang to complain( It would have been fine if they asked) as I wanted to go out. He says just take one of the gixers (your totally missing the point there mate) so I gave up and took his 600 (the 1000 is his race bike it only has a daytime mot for emergencies and it was a bit murky yesterday and I thought I may need lights). Anyway I met my mate and of we went in search of a decent breakfast at our fav cafe. Anyway on route through some twist…

No, I haven't been to a Honda Rally either! And the wife's got even more ailments......her ass, leg, back, and neck is killing her! Reason for the grief: We did a 180 mile round trip on the XT today...from Llandod to Haverfordwest to see "Dai the Deal" in Garland & Griffiths. Now I love the XT, but anything more than short runs is physically hard going, particularly on the wife. It's now reached the point where she can't do more than about 50 miles on it without pain. I even had to stop on the way back for her to take Ibuprofen. Anyway Dai Garland offered me a new 54 plate V-Strom 650 for £1700 plus the XT.....which is quite attractive considering the …

It's interesting how many sports bikes are on the roads. My last bike, before I went all sensible with the XT660R, was an 03 CB1300. The speed and power of this bike were awesome. Overtakes from 50 - 100 -50 were over in the blink of an eye. Nothing on 4 wheels could get close coming off a bend or roundabout. The ease of reducing Subaru WRXs to a dot in the mirrors or sweeping past BMW M5s was staggering and addictive. Now, I am old and reasonably mature, but I still indulged in this behaviour more than was prudent. Who could resist sweeping past an "on it" Mercedes CLK 55 AMG on a wave of torque as I once did? But believe it or not this kind of riding gets boring quite …

.....because today I sat on the most comfortable bike I've ever tried. The wife got on the back and she thought it was brilliant. Even more comfortable than the Divvy 9 which had a Corbin seat. What was this bike?....... The DL650 V-Strom.....or the "Baby-Strom" as it's now getting called. It really is very good indeed! I even took a brochure home! Who's gonna slap me first then?

it has been a long time since my last confession(as in never ) i have sorted out my winter ride for this year.....a SUZUKI( ) ts125 of 1979 vintage 8) it is a lovely looking little bike and should be a whole lot of fun round some of the local dirt track areas. the price.....£100, it does need the engine rebuilt though, usual things, crankshaft oil seal etc but that wont be a problem, cosmetically it's very nice, lovely undamaged blue paintwork, rims etc. i'll strip the bike down, clean, paint and rebuild anything needing it and hopefully i'll have another nice little stroker on the road for winter. been ages since i had a scrambler 8)
