    Announcement

Many congrats my dear - all the best for the future.
  2. Hi Frankg - welcome to the forum.
  3. Before condeming anything I would check the obvious first - Exhaust crown nut downpipe to silencer joint engine mounting and other nuts and bolts Chain tension Crankcase bolts! etc etc Make sure everything is tight before assuming it's inside the crankcase. Left hand crankcase holds the generator points etc if you take off the gearchange lever and remove the cover you can check the condition of the bearings by seeing if there is any movement in the generator flywheel - although I would expect the bearings to complain when they are under load (accelerating) not decelerating. DO you get a rattle on tick over? Keep us posted.
  4. Check this out - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-FS1E-AP50-YB1...93%3A1|294%3A50
  5. Hi Can't help you on the exhaust but the carb (if standard fit) should be a mikuni I can give you the standard jet sizes if you want - don't know if you can get any 'performance' kit for this bike as it never had the same sort of aftermarket stuff as the FS1E. Increasing compression may not be good for the longevity of your piston or crank seals!! To really increase performance on this bike I would first look at how it breathes and back pressure in the exhaust this is the key to increasing compression/performance.
  6. Hi - Sorry to hear about the CZ personally I would like to use the little scroats who do this sort of stuff as sea anchors rather than use Foamy's Jawa! As to the Woodruff key - they have a habit of doing this if you don't get the flywheel on absolutely correctly - the WK has a tendency to get pushed up at the back when you fit the flywheel. Always good to have some spare keys as they don't cost much! Don't think your problem in 4th is related though - sounds more like a carb/ignition issue. Worth checking that there was no damage to the points when your WK died though. Love the piccy - looks totally different to mine!!! Keep us up to date on progress.
  7. Bournemouth look out - here comes Foamy!

    Hellooooo

Looks pretty smart as it is Welcome to the forum. :D
  13. Sounds like there is too much fork oil - I know its a pain but I would remove them and empty the oil into a clean container and measure how much you have got - you should have around 320ml. If you have more just refill each leg with 160ml and you should be ok. :D
  14. May go on Sunday if I can get a posse up! :D
  15. Find the spot that is covered by the CCTV and park it there next time - you'll have no problems all the kids know where the cameras are

    Dealing with Rust

Fraid so - it is the damp atmosphere that you don't tend to get in a garage that causes the rust. Keep the bike as clean as you can (ie wash it regularly), this keeps the salt and other nasties off it which tend to accelerate the oxidation process. Apart from that try to keep on top of it, I have used Kurust to deal with large areas of rust - it turns it blue (but don't get it on good paintwork - it doesn't come off easily!) then you can paint over it. I have found this keeps it at bay longer than just brushing or sanding off. Areas like exhausts etc that get hot you have to stay on top of as they tend to destroy coatings more quickly - I have used BBQ paint (about £6 in Wilkinson) - but you have to do it every year! Other forum members may have other good ideas.
  20. Depends on the make and whether they are sized UK or euro. I my case I take a 12 (uk) which is either 46 or 47 in euro but my experience with boots is to go for the larger size as you can always wear thick socks. You could try Lidl - they had some bike stuff and certainly the Ashford store had boots last week - Maidstone might do to - give em a call. As for the ebay ones - ask the seller if they are sized UK or euro - it makes a difference. :D
  21. Critical settings as follows: Clip position - 2 Air screw (turns out) - 2 1/4 Float height - 21 +/- 1mm Idle speed 1400 +/1 50rpm Hope this helps :D
  22. New Avengers - please! Diana Rigg was in The Avengers - but she could be Prime Minister too!
  23. I bought one of these recently for my Kwak - the chrome finish is not great (ie it won't last long if you leave the bike outside) and the tin is a bit thin - but it looks the business - although it was fun drilling the mounting holes.............not! BTW - alec glad to have been of help on the YB - my pleasure - anytime.
