  1. I do a LOT of night time riding =) roads are quieter... Makes for better fast-road riding =) (Can you ride fast on a YB100? lol) I'll do a bit more research first... But still sounds like sound logic to me... I'll let everyone know how I get on, Then write a mini How-To =)
  2. Haha, Looks like I was told a load of crap then. A local bike garage owner round here told me that all it would take is A zener diode, New lights, new battery and new coil. He mentioned that as long as a 12v battery is supplying the voltage, Then the generator will top the charge up, it just wont do it till later in the rev range, Around 3 1/2 thousand...
  3. Going to be using a Zener diode to control the voltage... but keeping the standard charging system in there. With me thrashing the bike as I do, Charging only after 3500rpm isnt a problem for me =P
  4. I can get a 12v 4ah fitting in there =) I've got a spare one lying around, But its been stood for years =( gunna buy a new one just in case.
  5. Right, Over the next week or so, I'm going to be converting the bike to 12v as the lighting on this bike is as dismal as a candle in the wind. the halogen 6v bulbs are hardly any better. So once I upgrade to 12v, I'll be using LED's as much as I can. I was also thinking of converting the bike from Points ignition, To Capcative Discharge. Does anyone have any experience on the subject?
  6. You can have the whole bike for 25 quid with tax and MOT, still got V5 lol
  7. How would that bolt to the frame? the bolt that fits to the chassis is normally roughly half way down the pipe... ANy ideas how to get this fitted? If it isnt too hard, I'll try to pry it from his hands for a low price =P
  8. What piccy lol I havent uploaded any piccys yet, I only posted a pic of what I'm AIMING for =P By the way, I wouldnt have thought carb/ignition problems would cause performance loss in only ONE gear... Would it?
  9. Thanks for the welcome all =) it just makes me rather angry these days with the lads cruising around on Yamaha aerox 100's and all the latest in small 2-strokes and dont get me wrong, I know they're quicker than the two-strokes of yesteryear... But I want to show them what classic strokers can do out there, especially seeing as how my bike gets virtually NO respect from what WERE my fellow riders... =(
  10. Hey there =) The names Alex. 18 years old and addicted to two strokes. After a set of new tyres on my CZ inspired new-found confidence in my riding, I've been practicing my cornering for hours on end, Chugging round and round on roundabouts with increasing speed. But I realised that the CZ was a TERRIBLY bad bike for handling when I was introduced to the YB100. My friend realised I was in a mess once my CZ kicked the bucket (about 2 weeks ago), and decided to give me the YB100 as long as I paid him £250 back over time. Obviously I agreed =) Frame is a little rusty, the paint job however, Is immaculate! The seat has two rips, But other than that, she's a beauty. Took her for her first run in my ownership and decided to see what she's really made out of, And she did nothing but surprise me. The front end popped up on me and dropped back as I clicked to second and it took a second to realise that I just pulled a wheelie with ease... (A feat I have NEVER accomplished before, And still scared of) At first, I thought the bike had been geared down, Sacrificing its top end.... So I took her down the longest road in the town and got 68mph (GPS recorded) with my head down. It was at this point that I knew, This was going to be more than just the average YB, I was going to treat her like a fully fledged racer and take her out of her commuter clothes =) It is upon this wish, that I am going to convert her to a 100cc, full fairing café racer. Strictly no overbores... This is STAYING as 100cc. The fairings will be matching to the existing colours. Burgandy, and gold. This is roughly what I would like her to look similar to: Anyone think I'm over ambitious? =P By the way, The YB's name is Charlotte
  11. Another Quick question, But where can I get main jets for the carb? as I do not know what make the carbs are for these bikes. Also, Would anyone be able to advise me on increasing the compression on these? as from what I can gather, Increased compression translates into better performance... (Yes, I am aware of the problems caused by detonation)
  12. I am finding it increasingly difficult to find an expansion chamber exhaust for the YB100 and was just going to ask the question of wether the FS1E exhausts would fit as there are plenty sport pipes for these available, Thanks =)
  13. The other day, My YB100 was running as usual, All of a sudden... THWACK! Sharp shooting pain in my ankle as the bike cut out, I pulled over to inspect. Turns out my generator flywheel bolt had flown off the crank, and broken out of the casing leaving my nicely chromed Yamaha cover, In a bent and tattered state as well as snapping the thread out of the casing where the cover sat. Pushed it home and to no surprise, The woodruff key had snapped. Managed to get a new one, then fitted it, Tightened it as much as I can (With the help of someone holding the back brake and sitting on it whilst it's in gear) Gave it a kick, And it started, Although feeble. It then cut out, I realised this was my mistake as the fuel tap was off. Turned it back on, Kicked it over and it failed to start for three kicks, Then it idled rather weakly with a nasty squaling sound coming from the generator, A loud backfire followed and the flywheel started doing its previous trick of acting to its own accord. Any idea why it snapped yet another one? the magneto wasnt loose after tightening, Not even wobbling... AT ALL!... Right before this problem started, I noticed a sharp performance drop in fourth gear only whilst the others remained unfazed, Third reaching 45 revving high, Still wheelied in first, but go into fourth and the only way to describe it is... well... Flat, Would slowly pick up to 50mph given a minute on the flat... But I used to achieve 68mph on the speedo with head down. Got to wait till monday till I get more woodruff keys... Ordered two. Anyone got any ideas here? =( In other news... My Beloved CZ was stolen and smashed. Found it, but not worth repairing. =( Why would people do such a thing?
