  5. +1 dave me to all weathers. dont understand all this seasonal thing. heard all the excuses its cold, road salt killing the bike ? funny i have been riding since 1963 never had a bike ruined by road salt its harder work yes but if you get in a routine and after every trip wash off with cold water 10 minutes its sorted, more fun than sitting in front of a computer talking about it. off out now 45mph winds and heavy rain its like a summers day.
  6. so you will know the seven stars and my local the queens at the time i did not qualify for army quarters so we bought a new house being built by barrats chester ave loved living there the people were great.
  7. not changed then kev , used to go in there when i was home on leave in the 70s when the wife lived in little lever some great nights and after hours.
  8. the MOSES GATE god is that dump still open?
  9. i can understand you having a alliegence to the meridan brand,i bought my first t120 in the early sixties off my cousin for just over £400 and kept it till 2008,unlike the storys you here of the old british bikes being bad for leaking oil and other urbam myths she took me all over the world in my time spent in the army never once letting me down, many a time in the late 70s and early 80s i was tempted to sell for at that time a few hundred thankfully i always changed my mind,in 2008 she was now showing her age and needed a lot of work doing on her so nostalgia turned to the realistic fact that a bike i had paid £400 for was now going to be sold for £4800 ! i have had plenty of other bikes but dont think i will ever see me getting that sort of profit again.
  10. going on your theory that triumphs are only triumphs if they were made in Meriden what about the bikes built before meriden opened its doors in 1942 all those bikes built in coventry are they not triumphs? Meriden was not the original factory for production as with most manufacturers of motorbikes factorys have changed as production increased even yamaha does not produce its bikes from its original factory so perhaps some of us are not riding proper yamahas? when production of triumph re started 2 years after meriden closed its doors most of the workers who lost there jobs started at hinkley and all the old problems associated with the old triumphs were sorted, having owned a meriden bonnie from the sixties till a couple of years ago as well as having a yamaha and now having a newer triumph its like a different breed of bike. the difference now with triumphs is not just that the bikes are better than the older bikes but also the attitude of there dealers which is great wish the same could be said for yamaha!

  15. yep the oil ! its them damn jap classics load of oily shite.
  16. and swinton 1 and a half mile away that must be a record... thanks drewps. looks good on jacket no stitching required put on with copydex like my other badges.
  17. sorry kev but dont believe everything you read far from smelly and unreliable or rusty old shite, i like all classic bikes but the brit bikes were the bikes of my youth, pity i did not keep any of them as the bikes i had could be bought for new at £300 and £ 400,now they are going for silly money even the jap classics. tried to buy this one in september but just could not raise the price. far from rusty full of character and great fun.

    New Tiger !

sadly gas like the rest of triumphs bike range it will be fitted with a CEM so the mechanic can add any updates,re program, add any new tunes and accsess DTCs, whilst in theory is a brilliant idea, there are just two things i have problems with the first 95percent of the service any competent person can do, you can even buy the tool to do your shims of e bay so why is the service so expensive? the other problem i have is once the problem has been identified getting the part or parts is a nightmare, every thing i have needed is out of stock on back order or some excuse, unlike you gas my triumph dealer is great but his hands are tied with the parts problems, courtesy bike no problem but i want to ride my bike not theres,i have had one part on order since early august and no sign of getting it before xmas well not this one. there is some light at the end of the tunnel though for my bike you can now buy the program for your lap top comes with leads to connect to your bike enabling you to do everything the mechanic can do if you understand it,but not much good when you breakdown at the side of the road. nostalgia has a lot to answer for, what was i thinking buying a triumph 31 mpg the best i have had and thats riding it like a nun, thank god i still have my FZ 48mpg after all the speed limit is 70

    New Tiger !

£560 i thought no it cant be so i checked out a few sites on google and the amount of people who said the same confirmed it, a 12k service on triumphs is a second mortgage one guy from edinburgh said. just read last weeks MCN it gave a good write up on the tiger. at least triumph dealers have no problem with test drives on the tiger unlike yamaha and the tenere

    New Tiger !

yes pat it looks ok but like most triumphs unless you do your own services its bloody dear. thought i would treat myself to a 12000 ml service on my tt600 but have changed my mind after getting a quote from triumph of £560 plus extra for valve clearances looks like its back to home servicing
