  2. Hold an event for the YOC Members, invite them over for a BBQ/drinks and in exchange we help you tear the XT engine apart/swap the engines over, then when that's sorted we all go for a rideout on some of the wonderfull yorkie roads

  3. When i had my XVS 125 i only got 65mph average, and down hill i did get 75 but that was its max. so 65-70 is just fine, you aint going to get anything above 75mph out of one of these bikes due to thus reasons: Yes she is a V twin but the pistons are as big as a whiskey tumbler (if not smaller) She is a Cruiser thus big and lumpy and the 125 motor is doing its best to drag the bike and the rider. If you want to go faster then do your test. If you can't afford to do your test then the best way to help a bike go a bit better is to go down the Bobber route. Strip off as much shit as you can get away with thus making the bike lighter. Chopping the fenders, loosing all useless metal work. (sissy bars, racks, panniers etc etc) fitting drag bars will shift your weight forward thus making it more throw able around corners. Remember coming back from Southampton and over taking a GS 500 on the out side and he was quite shocked to have been over taken by a cruiser Every bike has its limitations for example the XVS 650 will struggle to get to a ton, its do able but fook me does it hurt you thighs, i easily get 95mph out of my 650 but after 2-3miles it starts to hurt. So..........................be happy with 60-70mph out of your XVS 125 Cause that all your gunna get.

  4. The problem I think you have in trying to take this too far is that if you agreed to the first amount the fact that they undercharged doesn't mean you don't owe it as the first agreement will be taken as a contract. Best call it quits and don't use them again.

  5. Also forgot to mention my dad lives 80 odd miles away at the seaside. Your making it sound like I have done fuck all to the bike myself. I have fixed and repaired it many times from fitting a new brake calliper and bleeding the brakes (after stripping the original calliper and realising it was fucked) to changing cables, fitting handlebars and brake pads. Loads of basic things which yes in your eyes is piss easy, but I have had to start somewhere. I have now decided to keep the bike and fix it, another few hundred quid on an engine is nothing compared to the money I have spent on her so far. I am taking it to a friends garage where I will look at the engine myself and try to determine what the problem is.

  7. Pleeeeeeez, read the Owners manual and get to know it, as you'll need to know how to check the brake fluid level/engine oil level/rear brake adjustment etc in order to be able to ride safely. Get into the habit of regular (weekly) checks of all these things plus tyres/lights etc. That should enable you to pre-empt possible failures

  8. No wonder your dad won't help you,you fn gave up before you tryed. My 13yr old has more stay power to work with tools. You have learned nothing about fixing bikes other than the # to the shop and if you think the next bike will need no repairs your on crack, any mechanical thing breaks new or old. This is a perfect time and bike to learn on even if it took you a week to chang the motor you would be ahead of the game in the end. Look at what eng parts are worthhttp://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=yamaha+xt125+engine so you would have all that for spares meaning you would never have to buy any more eng parts,or sell and recoupe. Your going to go buy a peddle bike and miss the summer of riding for the lack of effort to at least try and fix something that cost less than a decient bicycle to fix. Then go buy a new bike and thrash it through winter and take a kick in the nuts on investment loss. I could have that motor out and a new one in ,in less that 2 hrs using basic hand tools.1hr with air tools. Give your head a shake suck it up and fix the dam thing and learn something.
