Hi Folks After 40 odd years of not riding, about 18 months ago I bought myself a virago go 535. Although I don't do many miles on it I love riding it. I'm now 61 and I wonder why I waited so long to get a bike again. I went out for a ride today about 50 miles round trip in the winter sun, there really is nothing like it. Look forward to enjoying your company on this forum. Cheers Stuart (OK The topic title should read "in" South Wales not "on" South Wales! Just goes to show what an oldie I am!!)

Hi, just bought my first Yamaha, a Cygnus X for my commute to the train station daily. Very impressed with the scooter so far, glad so far that in the end that i didn't go down the Vespa route. Will be looking for tips about the bike, what the best online spare parts resources are, what the best service manual is etc etc.

Hi guys, I'm in Japan riding a little FZ250. Good reliable bike most of the time but I've left it sitting for a few months now unused. I've running the engine about once a month but with winter I've been a bit tardy in my maintenance. Now the bike battery is flat, so I was cranking the engine using cables connected to a car battery as the bike battery was flat. The engine started cranking as usual, but it didn't fire. I tried again but suddenly lost all electrics (lights out & now power to starter). I checked the fuse but it appears to be OK. There's a little pin like button near the battery that's inside a clear plastic case that sometimes re…

Hi All I'm Daz, from Surrey and pick up my '87 FZR1000 Genesis on saturday. Always loved the Endurance style twin headlight look from the 80's and the FZR seemed to fit spot on. I've had lots of Yams over the years, starting with a Fizzy and taking in RD250's,350's and a cool old coffin tank 400 up to an early R1. I've taken a year out from biking after racking up 65,000 miles on my FZ6, using it as a 300 mile a week commuter all year round, turned it from my shiny pride and joy into a wreck and kinda jaded me using it for pleasure at weekends. the FZR, is strictly a toy and won't be pounding up and down the salt laden motorways! heres a pic of the outgoing bike and I'…

I have had this engine in my shop for years and thought it was a YDS3 until this morning. It has bore of 50.46 mm, obviously an overbore. The intake manifold is 18mm. It must be a 180 but the YCS1 motor number does not come close to the D100 prefix. It is a 3 port engine and in good shape, no pistons in the engine, turns free. Wot the hell is it. I have raced TD1C, YM1,YR2, RD350 ETC. My regular ride is an OSSA 250, turns 12400 and 46 hp at that rpm, I was timed at Mid Ohio backstretch at 137, but at 230 pounds and 74 years old at the time it was pretty good. My young rider should break 140 this year at Daytona. I have since retired but am building a YDS3 to TD1B specs…

Hey guys So I'm Ian i started riding bikes a little over 3 years ago and ever since i have swung my leg over a old school thumper i have never wanted to live a day with out a off road / dual purpose bike. Anyways i just got myself a DT180 1992 ( its the Brazilian Version ) and since acquiring it i have absolutely fell in-love with the sound of 2 strokes . So ya i'm very much into computers etc and you will find me being the guy that will want all those geeky type of gimmicks like replacing the globes inside my original lights and indicators with the LED ones still keeping the bike stock but giving it a new age feel anyways that's me I'm from South A…

Hi all, after years of letting my 250LC slowly decay in the garage guilt has got the better of me and I've decided to put it back on the road. Not a concurs restoration, just a good old fashioned rideable motorbike and no doubt I'll be needing some advice. Cheers Steve
