Hello everyone! I'm a new member and a little unsure of what's what. I have a Dragstar 1100. Can you please advise me on the best way and what to use to get rid of the rust around the spokes. What's best for the general day to day cleaning and protection of my bike. There is a slight bronzing on the front end of the exhaust can this be remove/ why is it caused.?

Very happy bunny,,, just bought myself a Yamaha XVS 1100 Dragstar custom, 2002, before that i owned a V-max. Like others had my fun blasting, now just want to cruise. It is fully loaded now, just waiting for the high winds to die down so i can enjoy.... regards Franklyn...

Hi folks Newbie here - just bought a wee 2002 XVS125 to go through my test & it's fab. Unfortunately I've just noticed that I've lost the bar end off the throttle grip Can anyone tell me if this is a standard part? I've done some searching for bar caps & 22mm keeps getting mentioned, but I can't find anything on the existing cap that is 22mm! Also the pics of the new caps don't look familiar at all. Can anyone help me out please? Cheers Clydey

Hey there, I posted a "hello" post on the main forum, but then found this bit. Also just realised that the friend i mentioned with the dragstar 650 is actually on this site anyway But anyhoo, I am about to take my 125 test at the end of this month, and have also just bought ( but not quite finished paying for) a yam dragstar 650. I will have to restrict her of course, but at least then at the end of 2 years i will have a " new bike" once i take the restricters off. Picking her up on the 31st march from the local eddy wright dealers, then will spend hours looking at her before i send her off for restricting. ( sounds like neutering a pet doesnt it). So here…

This is kind of a random question. Has anyone ever tried putting the 650 rear fender on the 1100 custom? I really don't like the 1100 Custom fender, but I don't want a 650. Any thoughts?

Hi people, I've recently passed my CBT, and purchased a lovely 2001 XVS 125. I didn't get much info about which oil to put in, where to put it, or how to check if I have enough. I wondered if any of the members here would be able to help me out on this? Or if there's anything else I need to check. There was no manual with the bike, if anyone has a owners manual they could upload, that would be really helpful! This is my first bike, so I need a bit of help from the experts I'm also after some panniers if anyone knows where I can get some? Thanks in advance

I've just bought a Silvertail Pro-S 2 in 1 exhaust system for my XVS650. Will i have to get it rejetted once its fitted or should it just go straight on no messin? Ta! Goff x

All, First let me introduce myself (my first post after all) I'm 30 and a long time biker (full licence at 17, didnt get a car licence until I was 21), however due to differences with my wife I gave it up for almost 8 years. Finally I have been able to convince her that I should get a bike again. MY '99 vstar 1100--35,000 miles has been getting harder to start for the last 2 months. Unless I charge the battery every couple days, it barely cranks. Diconnected the neg. cable at the battery and found a 10 volt drain (I don't know the milli-volt reading). I left the volt meter connected to the battery and disconnected EVERY connector one at a time. The 10 volt drain stopped when I disconnected the starter relay! I opened all the wiring bundles that the relay connector fed, but didn't find any damaged wires. I plugged the starter relay back in--10 volt drain again! Finally I realized that the voltage reulator/rectifier was still connected! I unplugged it and th…

Im having REAL trouble getting hold of a replacement lock for the storage compartment for my XVS650. Ive been in touch with the nearest Yam dealer and he said he can get one but they come without a key - which i dont really understand! Has anyone ANY ideas at all where i can get one from (with key!)? Ive tried everywhere, all over the net including Evilbay and im stumped now. Thanks in advance Lisa x

how to derestrict,or were to buy a vsx250 engine with running gear,please help THANKS

I have one of these fitted to my 2001 XVS125, the lid of the chamber does not appear to come off, so I presume there is another way of filling it. There is a tube coming out of the side at the top of the chamber which I assumed was the filling point. When I tried putting chain oil into it, it wouldn't suck it down into the chamber, even when the engine was running. I tried plugging the oil spout into the tube and forcing it in, but that just bubbled back out again as soon as I pulled the spout back out. This is nowhere in the manual, so I am assuming the previous owner has fitted this themselves. Does anyone else have one of these and knows how it should be filled?

I know oil additives are not recommended for the XVS series, but I wonder if there would be any problem with putting a fuel additive in, such as Redex. Redex works great on carburettors, etc. and generally good for keeping the engine running well. Anyone tried it? advice much appreciated
