The fork seals need doing on my 1996 XV750. The haynes manual says that all XVs after 1984 require a press & special tools to tackle this job and work should be undertaken by a yamaha dealer. I have changed seals on many Jap bikes before, by undoing the allen bolt that holds the slider into the bootom leg, and then using the "slide hammer" technique to separate the two & access the seal. This is usually detailed in the Haynes manuals so I am a little concened about their comments for the XV forks. Is there something different about XV forks! Has anybody out there tackled this job on a 1990's XV750? thanks

Hmm this is a complicated question, as I dont really know what Im asking! Basically, when Ive been riding for a while, my arms start to ache from the stretch to the handle bars- this is made considerably worse by windy conditions, and the fact my arms are quite short ( as the rest of me is). SO.. was wondering if you can get any different kind of bars that come up higher and further back than the stock ones that come on the dragstar 650 (classic). I know a screen would help the wind, but the "reach" is still a little too much, i sit as far forward on the seat as i can and im as stretched out in everyway as i possibly can be. Do they do different heights in bars? or …

afternoon all didnt last long before i went to the local shop to buy another bit for the bike after the exhausts lastnight! am now the proud owner of some highway hawk wishbone bars and am going to attempt to fit them tomorrow - anyone got any advice or idiots guide comments? anything at all welcome - i work with computers so useless with practical things - but am now determined that my previous approach of me earning the money and then paying the experts to do this sort of thing isnt the way forward! am hoping to do the bike up myself as a bit of a learning excercise and hobby too thanks, dan

afternoon all, i'm really wanted to stretch out the front end on my dragstar 1100 classic but am really worried about the everyday rideability of the bike and how hard the kit might be to fit does anyone have an opinion or experience one of these? I'm REALLY tempted to just buy it as they can deliver tomorrow but then worried 5 degrees won't make much change or other extreme is it could be too strange a ride any advice / comments / experiences greatly appreciated thanks dan http://www.customcruisers.com/custom2005/c...arget=d128.html

Hi Folks, Just a quick note to introduce myself as a new member to the Yamaha Owners Club. I am just getting back into biking after a 10 year layoff so i decided not to buy a pocket rocket and to go for something more sedate and bought myself a Virago 535s, now all i am looking forward to is some decent days so i can go riding. Unfortunately here in sunny scotland those days can be few and far between so a lot of cleaning after rides will have to done (oh well the joys of biking). Safe Riding folks John

Hi everyone, I have a 97 xvs 650 dragstar classic which is currently black and tan. I live in the midlands and I am looking for a spray job on my front and rear fenders and tank. I want it mainly black with some airbrushing on the tank. Can anyone reccomend anybody and give a rough idea of what sort of prices I should stick to. Thanks for your help..

Hi all I'm new to riding and new to the forum. I'm based in Oz (Australia) and just recently bought a VXS650 Classic and love riding it over the last 3 months. I'm keen to modify one part and thats the rear fender, I'd like to have it shorter exposing more of the wheel. If anyone has made such a mod via cutting the rear fender or knows of a kit - any help would be awesome.

Ok here goes my update…… V&H Cruzers installed, together with Kuryakyn HC, As advised by MagEurope who are the European distributors and also some correspondence with Cruiser Ecosse I opted for the 31501 model as they recommended which is listed as 49 states up to 2004 models, regrettable the bracket does not fit and my installer had to manufacture a completely new bracket. In short the 31505 is the correct model for the 2007 Classic. Pipes went in well not so happy with the hose clamps that tie in the heat shields as the bolts show from the bottom, pipes look ok but nothing compared to the originals. Now I need to solve the output which is just unde…

I'm having a problem with my 1996 650 Dragstar. It's been sitting for several months for reasons I won't go into. I started it up today to go for a spin... Starts ok (in Neutral) as soon as I kick in 1st with the clutch lever pulled in the bike stalls. Trying to push the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in is damn near impossible. Obviously the clutch is not disengaging for some reason. I've checked the cable and the external lever on the clutch moves ok so clearly somethings gone on inside, probably because I've not been using it. I could really do with a clue on how to free it up, if only to save me the recovery charges to get it somewhere and have it so…

Hello, I've been reading various posts on this forum and decided I have a few questions of my own. I am just about to take my test after being on a direct access course, I asked my instructor what size engine he would advise me on purchasing and he informed me that it would probably be more suitable for to buy a bike with a 600CC engine as I will still be learning. I really like the look of the midnight star cruisers but because of the engine sizes I have put my wants aside and decided to listen to the advice of my instructor and choose a bike with a 600cc engine. Because I like my Drag star 125 so much I have decided to purchase a Dragstar 650cc, I enjoy …
