I just bought a motorcycle off of Ebay that is supposed to be a 1992 Yamaha Xv535. The problem is, The vin has only 9 charecters and in the USA we have 17. The vin is 2yl064548. What is this bike. I was told by a guy that it might be a model from the Uk. Im not sure. I need a gas cap and gasket for whatever bike this is but I do not know what to buy. Will other years interchange? Like I said, I need help. Any help anyone can give me would be apreciated. Thanks

Hello Im having a problem with my XVS Dragstar Custom 400cc. The engine is running fine but when you put the bike into gear and release the clutch the bike remains stationary and the engine stalls . I have been told its either a problem with the transmission or shaft ie something has seized. - I really hope not as this is beyond my ability. Or the side stand safety has gone wonky. Could anybody tell me where to find this and how to test it? Cheers.

Hi people, When my XV535 is cold, gear changes from 1st to 2nd feel very soft or spongy. There's no audible noise or hardly any mechanical feedback. The gear engages alright, but it's not the same. After the bike warms up, all comes back to normal - roughly similar noise and mechanical feedback between all gear changes. Should I be worried at all? Cheers, Pedro.

Hi all, I'm new to biking except the Honda MBX 50cc I had in the mid 80s, I've just got a Yamaha XVS 250cc 2004 Model for £1700 (was going for £1850) with only just over 9000 miles on the clock & in mint condition, I love the look & sound of it . Any tips & advice on this bike are very welcome. What you think of the price? I want to get a luggage rack & box that can take my 'lid' & all the other gear, can anyone tell me where I can get this from? I live in Romford, Essex, Also would it be fitted so it sits on the top of the end of the bike? I hope so as it's 7 foot long as it is & I can only just get it into my garage width ways a…

I got my shiney new Highway Hawk solo rack yesterday! (and what a lovely sunny day it was) - so off with the pillion seat, pillion pegs and the saddlebag supports while I'm at it... everything is cleaned and copper-greased... and just as I'm tightening up the the last nut (the M6 that normally holds the pillion seat on at the back) POP - it comes off Damn! So I pop upto my local shop - The stud is part of the "rear fender stay" (list price £46!?!) "could you drill it and put a bolt in for me?" I enquire - either way they'll want sixty odd quid!! Sod that! I'll do it myself... (only today it's raining ) *sulks in the c…

OK, so my battery wasn't charging and my mechanic tested my 1987 Virago 535 and suggested the stator and regulator/rectifier needed to be replaced. I got the manual and aftermarket parts online and decided to try it myself. I drained the oil, about 3 quarts worth and I let it drip dry. I pulled out the oil filter and replaced it, replaced the rubber seal and reseated the cover. Put the drain plug back in. Then I pulled the alternator cover off, removed the excess remnants of the previous gasket, replaced the stator and put everything back in place. Replaced the alternator cover, which was hard, but once I finally got it, I felt pretty sure that everything was in…

I have recently upgraded from a v star 1100 to a v star 1300 and I am sooo happy. I have seen this bike being slated by 1100 riders based purely on it's looks, but I think it is just them being anal. If you thought like me that an extra 200cc can't make much difference, think again, this combine with the EFI gives it a shedload more power and a better fell. Don't diss it till you have ridden it. If you are thinking of buying one, read my review here The only thing I would say as that I do still feel that my 1100 looked cooler, but that is nothing a feww after market extras can't fix.

Hi there I hope that one of the knowledgeable members can help me out. I keep losing power on my xvs 125 dragstar it feels as if the fuel is cutting out, i have had the carbs cleaned to no avail. It starts fine even when left for a while but when you give it some throttle it dies unless you back off and then really coax the power on slowly. This happens about 80 % of the time i can ride for 10 miles before it happens or i might get lucky and it doesn't happen at all.. Its driving me mad cause no one seems to have a clue so i would be really grateful if someone can shed some light on it for me. Cheers guys.

I love my 1300, but have a large foot and there is NOT enough room between the heel and toe levers for my riding boot (55). I have searched around and have not found any one else mention this issue, nor have I seen any replacements/solutions. Currently I have to make a lot of foot gyrations to shift. I'd love to keep the heel/toe style but need more room between the levers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

As a new biker I have little DIY experience but am keen to learn. I do all the pre-ride checks and visuals but dont know much else. Am getting the bike out more after less riding in winter. It has developed an intermittent squeeking from the front brake, sometimes even more of a scrunch. I took it to the local dealer who said the brakes are fine, and cleaned the disk for me, then rode it up and down the road. Said it was fine. Bike was serviced a week later and was told again brake fine but the it's back again after two weeks and feels like its constantly rubbing on the disk now. The bike is only just over a year old and done less than 4k miles. Disk is nice and smoo…

ka-plunkk, ka-klunk, ka-plank, ka-chhank, kklankk, eeeeeewwwwww, *Cringes* the noises when I flip my side stand on my dragstar, awwwww, I suppose some neoprene tape would cushion it slightly, (although I've gotten into the habit of ssslllllowwwly fliping the side stand in) So this must be normal on dragstars, have any of you dragstar owners done anything to alleviate this annoying, painful, metallic clunk - chrome meeting chrome..... ka-chink, ka-chhank, kklankk, ka-chunk, ka-plunkk, eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww

Hi everyone, [first post] I was wondering if anyone would know why are some 4 wires connected to my 1993 Virago 535's caburetors? I'm attaching a photo which very clearly shows two of them - the other two are on the other carb in a similar position. The Haynes manual makes no mention of these anywhere [that I've found, of course]... What are these for? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Pedro.

Been riding around on my baby for about a month and am absolutely loving it!... However, I want a lil bit more "throatiness" from the exhaust.... without the expense of a new exhaust, if its going to pose me problems in the long term, I'll leave it, just wanted some advice / opinions: - http://www.650ccnd.com/drillout.htm http://www.650ccnd.com/pipe1.htm whats the verdict?... Is it worth it?... Will it still pass its MOT?... regards, -Mits-
