As per my previous post, I am looking to buy a Yamaha YZF600 Thundercat. However where are the Chassis and Engine numbers on this bike? Need to know so that when I go to buy the bike that I want, I can check quickly on the bike and check with the V5 document. Many thanks Kevin

Hi everyone, Can anyone here give me advice on any buying advice whatsoever for buying a yamaha YZF600 Thundercat.? I really want it in black and am prepared to spend no more than £2000. I hae no idea what to look for. I know I cant really buy younger than 2000 reg. What sort of mileage should they have done? Many thanks in advance for anyone who helps me out with this. I'm afraid i have a terrible affliction where i'm never satisfied with anything, however with my R6 rather than chop it in for the latest and greatest and take a hit on trade in/new price, i'm going to try a different route. Keep the bike and add some sensible mods. I've only been riding for 6 months, its a raven black '05 R6 on a 06 plate with 3000 miles and the bike is so much better than me, the power is more than enough. Next year i want to start doing track days and probably will only be riding on the road at weekends etc, what would some sensible modifications be, the bike is totally standard. Hi guys, I'm new here and into biking. Happy to see some Yamaha fans out there. I just bought a FZ600 1988 and I'm currently repairing fairings (they were in BAD shape). Since I'm actually doing some work anyway I figured out it would be a good idea to change the tail light on it for something more appealing. Some of you guys know a light that would fit quite easily there to replace the current one. Another questions for you guys while your at it . You guys know where I could find a lower left fairing for my FZ. Used or new who cares as long as they are in good condition and not too expensive. I am an ageing (40) new biker having recently purchased an XJ600 as my first biggish bike (1995 model in case of mishaps etc). After about a month I had problems with starting, and the battery suddenly going flat. I was told that the regulator rectifier and battery were duff and to replace both. I did this and the problem (for now) has gone away and there are no problems with starting. Have heard some nightmare stories about RR's wearing out one after another and wonder if anyone has any advice on prolonging life of said items. All comments gratefully accepted!!!

Hi, I need to balance my carbs on my TZR250R 3XV V twin can anyone help?

The other day I was staying over a friends house in Conn. it was cold that night maybe 50 degrees out in the morning about 5:30am. I started my bike and waited for the temp to reach like 115 then I made off for work. after like half a block the oil light came on and I know the oil is full I had the 600 mile service last month and I checked it a week ago. what could be the reason? Cold weather or I didnt wait long enough? Im a new rider so sorry for the silly questions.

These bikes must be geared real low. I have to check the owners manny ...I believe I saw a specs section. I can cruise down a country road in 4th at 60 and the bike humms along nicely. If I try to shift up to 5th at 55 ... lugging city man .... On my Sporty, no matter what the situation, 2nd turning at stop signs or into a driveway etc etc. Here Im lugging in 2nd on slow manuver turns. Any other 1300 rider out there have comments ?

I weigh aproximately 190lbs with gear on, looking for a nice start on suspension settings for my weight. I would describe my riding style as aggressive back roads (long sweeps and switch-backs), thanks in advance.

I can't find a good picture on ine and haven't gotten a straight answer yet. What I want to know from those who have this color is if it has some kind of metallic purple or blue or reddish hues to it. It has been suggested to me that the color is more than just black and you have to get it in the sunlight to bring out the extra colors. Is This True??????? I am hopeing to buy a new FJR next year and would like to know just what the heck "Raven" is supposed to be, especially since the R6 came in a "Raven Edition". This question is keeping me up. hey guys, i got some strange oil problem with my R1 '01 (24000km). Last time i had an oil refill it was 2000km ago. The light is now again on red. This morning I had to add another 400cc of engine oil to bring it to the max level again. Anybody has suggestions what could be the problem. I drive very often on cold cuz i live in a small city where everything is nearby. Could this be the problem? Although I have the bike for 1,5 years and this wasn't an issue before. There is no sign of leaking or anything. The bike pulls normal. thnx in advance.

Hey guys, my 01 r6 started sputtering. Right around mid throttle, not accelerating, just holding steady, the bike sputters and feels like it surges. Feels like fuel issue, but when i rip on it i get No Hesitation at all. If it were a fuel issue i figure it would get worse when accelerating. Only acts funny when holding a steady speed. Changed the plugs,(needed to be done anyway) checked the gaps before installing. Still runs exactly the same. old plugs were picture perfect, just worn a bit. 13k miles on it now, getting annoying. Hope someone can help me out. Ignition/timing issue? Carbs just need tuned? Thanks again, Patrick

1997 YZF 600r Does the engine need to be completely disassembled to access the gearbox internals? I don't have the shop manual for this bike yet and was trying figure out how involved it's going to be to fix my 2nd gear problem. I'm pretty sure it's the dogs on the shift fork causing the gear not to engage.

im riding a fz1s 2006. i played around with my multifuction meter unit and noticed that if i pressed both reset and select button together and hold, then turn the key on, my meter will display 'diag'. i assumed that diag represent diagnose(to check for errors on bike). when i release both button and pressed either select or reset, it will display a 'C'. so what im trying to ask is that what does this 'C' stands for?? i probe further on the 'C' function and realise that inside the function there are 4 digits. C1, C2, C3, C4. so what does this symbolise?? does it represent the 4 cyclinders in my engine?? again i continued on and i found out that at C1, a -2 digit was …

Just aquired a thrashed 1997 YZF 600 (R?) with no fairings, only the windscreen so I'm not quite sure of the model. Here's the problem, second gear is gone, or unuseable anyway. All other gears work fine but when it is shifted into 2nd it won't engage, it sounds like it wants to but it won't, just growls. It only growls when I give it throttle, If I shift into 2nd and just coast it's fine (no noise). I'm planning on repairing the gearbox, I've heard this is a common problem with 2nd gear - a roll pin sheared off or something. This happen to anyone else? How much to fix? Also, the front end from the tripple clamp to the tire has been swapped with one from an R6 and the …

I'm hoping that someone can help me with a question. Is there anyone making a top mount bracket that can be used on a 07 FZ1 to mount a Givi top case? Givi doesn't show anything. Thanks in advance!

Hello, Im Matt, aka Furbie to my friends. I have recently purchased a Yamaha Fazer FZS600 which I think is great. I only passed my test 4 months ago and this Fazer is my 1st big bike. I think its great, its quick and very responsive, its economical to run and I have not got a bad thing to say about it as of yet. The only problem I am having is to change the time on the Clock. Its a digital clock and I have tried from what I can see on the bike and even consulted the manual, but this doesn't tell me anything and I have tried with no success. Is there any one there who can help me? It would greatly be appreciated. Hope to hear soon. Thanks. Matt.
