Having fitted some Dr Bike heated grips to my last bike (a definite plus in our British climes for year round riding - especially at my age!) I'm wanting to get some heated grips fitted to my bike before I pick it up next week and haven't been able to find any reviews on the Yamaha ones as they just seem to be a bit 'neater' than the Dr Bike ones (if not x3 more expensive!) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated cheers David

A girl at work has started a petition following a SMIDSY (she's ok, bike written off). She's after at least 2,000 signatures by the end of the month so Ishe can hand it in to No. 10. Thought you might be able to help... http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/driving-standards-agency-change-the-driving-test-to-include-motorcycle-awareness

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Non runner, if I can get it to run using the parts I have laying around I will put an MOT on it and flog it, otherwise. I'm gonna break it.

  11. I'm reading David Blume's "Alcohol Can Be A Gas: Fueling an Ethanol Revolution for the 21st Century" and the chapters on small utility engines, two-strokes, and motorcycle engines got me thinking. What are the major performance differences? (For starters. . .) It seems like someone with a good understanding of jetting and tuning could adjust for the octane differences, etc. and go off the grid with their fuel AND their WHISKEY! I'll try to put up a few of Blume's findings from some experiments a little later, but for now, I just thought I'd see if anyone had any good stories or experiences running their bikes on alcohol or other biofuels. Anybody ever have to g…

  12. Has any one ever had a Yamaha 600 Thundercat and what do you think of them ? The only reason I asked is when I asked the wife what she liked and all the bikes I liked she didn't lol she likes the look of a Kawasaki zx7 but I think I would have to be riding a bit longer for one of those ! but I do look the look of the Thundercat and I have had a look online and from what I could find it looks a pretty good bike but they aren't brand new which I'm not bothered about and there reasonably price at about a grand and a half for a decent looking bike, and if I dropped it I wouldn't cry as much as dropping a brand new bike which would be a fair few more grand and a trip to …

Hi Everyone my Son has just bought his first bike at the age of 20 yrs old. Me being his Dad at 45yrs old. We both did our CBT last Sunday and both have no experience. What we have both noticed that when changing up a gear we are both finding it hard to get our boots under the gear lever. So I removed the lever and moved up as little as I could, but now the lever is marking the engine. Can we buy a new lever that sticks out a little more than the original to stop it marking the engine ? Hope this makes sense to somebody. Cheers new rider Steve

  14. i just bought my first bike. it a 1979 yamaha xs1100 special. i figured out how to ride it, and mechanicly seems sound. im a do it yourself'er and consider myself inclined with a wrench.....electricity on the other hand, i have a hard time grasping. and with electricity lies my issue. the bikes tail/break light works but rear signals, front signals,low/high head light, speedometer, and rpm gauge to not fuction. fuses are all fine. cables all connected. no open links to my eye. ive been chasing wires for about a week now pokeing with that "light up" tool to see if theres current. and yes ive been using a wiring diagram, but like i said i suck with electricity. i bought my first bike. a 1979 yamaha xs1100 special. i fiugured out how to run the thing pretty quickly and have fixed obvious problems, such as dry rotted carb/manifold boots. whats been killing me for days is some kind of electrical issue. ive been poking wires with the "light up tool and trying to fallow the wirering diagram. but my effort is a completle waste of time becuse i do not get electricity!!! god it makes me mad....anyways so my starter, horn, rear/brake light, and nuetral light all work. as far as the rear/front signal, speedometer, rpm guage, low/high head lamp, and any other light on the bike, its junk. fuses are all fine and there is power in the fuse bo…
