I am trying to find out the firing degree of the 125 xvs. I have purchased a xvs950 engine that fires at 300deg and 420 degree and i dont want to use the CDI associated with the engine as i dont intend to run fuel injectors and all the associated safety connections needed for that set up. I want to feed it with a S&S super carb and have a CDI from a 125 but i think the firing different, just trying to find enough info to make something work here.

Hello, Im a first time poster here, and i am unsure if this is the right sub-forum for my topic, but this place was the one that made most sense to me. I bought a 1997 Yamaha YZF 600 Thundercat project bike this summer, and was hoping I would manage to fix it up. After some rounds of trial and error im not really getting any closer to fixing the problems with it. So i was hoping there where some Thundercat/Yamaha gurues here that could help me a bit with my problem. Hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting here i've just got a mysterious issue with my bike that I need to fix urgently and thought it would be worth posting here to ask for advice. In short my YBR 125 Custom (2016?) is having an issue where randomly (always over 7,000 rpm in 5th after 2 minutes or so) a massive amount of engine braking will kick in and the engine light will continuously flash (No code just constant quick flashes till the breaking stops). This will deceleration will happen for a seemingly random amount of time. This issue has resurfaced multiple times over the past year of me owning the motorcycle and it has me and my mechanic step-farther…

I'm relatively sure this is the place to post this, but I'm sure someone can move it if it isn't..! This is probably a very 'n00b' question, but: I've always wondered, under tail exhausts just (to me) look so cool! Neater, less visible, streamlining and hopefully cool... So... Why aren't more bikes built with them??? There's obviously at least one major downside to them, or I couldn't see why more bikes aren't built with them. So what is it? What makes them un popular to manufacturers?

Hi, has anyone had any experience of fitting a digital speedo off of ebay to a 2015 YBR custom, I unfortunately busted up my clocks after an argument with the road, with new replacements £300 plus and second-hand ones like hens teeth I am thinking its the only way to go ,any advise or mishaps you might have had, the information would be welcome . thanks

Hi, Recently purchased an unfinished project off Ebay and the fella at the time said he didn't have the V5 and that the original owner "had the bike from new" and "used it on a farm". He's been on Ebay a while and his feedback was legit and on meeting him he's a bike restorer and he said that he had too much on and didn't have time to get around to finishing the rest, he bought it as unfinished too. I didn't get a whiff of anything dodgy. Anyway i used an online service where you pay a fiver and they search your VIN and if they don't find anything you get your fiver back or they send you the registration number if they do. Hello folks, first time poster . Need a bit of help. Just before lockdown, bought a YBR125 2009 for commuting to work. But been working from home and the thing has just sat there since March. Tried to start it, battery dead unsurprisingly. Bought new battery, tried it today. Turning over fine, but not firing at all, not even a gasp. Spark plug is a bit black, has a spark, difficult to tell if it's a good spark tho (I'm not very good at that). I'll get a new plug for it anyway, change the air filter. Previous owner was young lad, seemed pretty responsible but never can tell. It was running fine when I bought it though, I took it for a spin round the block w…

Out on the bike yesterday with some mates. Pushing quite hard in a few spots when the handling really started to go to shit. Barely got home. Front wheel bearing had shit it's self. Thank f it didn't happen in Derby although I think it was affecting the bike looking back and I just thought it was shitty vmax manners.

ybr 125 custom running nicely came back off a run out, parked up for 10 minutes then tried to start it, engine turned over but failed to start removed the spark plug no spark? Battery seems ok but will charge it. Any ideas?? Dek

I’ve got a 1986 Dt125lc ypvs. Blown the motor a month or so ago and found out the gearbox is smashed to bits. I’ve found someone selling a 1987 tzr125 for sale. Wondering if anyone know if the engine mounts are the same and how hard it would be to wire everything up. (His energy comes with both CDI’s and a little bit of the loom)

Just a quick question on the autolube adjustments. I've seen some people say that Yamaha gives a spec as to how much oil should come out with 200 strokes. I can't find the actual spec for my model. Both Haynes and Cylmer manuals dont give that info. I found one forum saing about 5cc/ml per 200 strokes open throttle for a later mx model. Anyone know the specs for my model? Thanks!

Just fitted some RD carbs onto a YDS5 engine which I had to modify the carbs so they would fit on the stubs but I seem to be having issues of flooding the engine and petrol coming out the exhaust. I have checked the floats and they worked fine and I have put the top notch on the needle. That made no difference could it be the jet that need changing or could it be the throttle slides are to high but there in no adjustment left on the throttle cable.
