Just bought a YZ85 2002 two-strke for my g-friend and a wr450x for myself . I'm an avid mt biker ... actually help run mtbr.com and their forums. Thought I'd introduce myself and get started before I *really* get started I don't know why we ended up with Yamahas. I was looking at the Hondas but came across the perfect 2-stroke and great CA financing in Burlingame, CA, USA. I hope it all works out.

Out on my Cat last night ( lovely sunny evening)..I've had it for 2 months now and am gradually feeling more confident. Anyway going quite fast round twisty country roads here in North Devon, I found that a couple of times when going too fast into a corner ( judged it wrong --let's be honest ) trying to lean over more and grabbing a large handful of front brake, the bike suddenly tried to go straight on, and tried to come upright. I was really lucky on a left hand hairpin (VERY tight), when I realised I was too hot into it, braked hard, and the bike stopped turning and carried straight on over to the outside lane....if anything was coming the other way I'd be "daid a…

Hey everyone, My name is Nick, I'm 21 and I've been riding for 17 years (my bicycle that is ). I have been wanting a motorcycle for a loooooong time and now that I'm out from under the watchful eye of my mother and father, I have purchased my first. It's a 1978 Yamaha DT175, pretty much not my dream ride but a cheap bike for me to learn on. My question is a legal one, if anybody is knowledgable on that subject. I live in California. I asked a motorcycle enthusiast accquaintance if he could locate a few parts for me. I need a couple of mirrors, a brake light, brake light relay, turn signal relay, ignition switch, and battery in order for me to satis…

Hi Guys, Just bought a yam bt 1100 bulldog from a local dealer, now i know everyone slags them off as a gutless and lardy machine but i happen to like the fact that i cant go too fast!however, since picking it up on saturday i have noiced that if i go above 6500 revs the engine seems to cut back, i have just taken it to the dealer who stated that this is totally normal and it is due to the rev limiter kicking in.....ive never heard of this before! is there anyone out there who knows this to be true?!?!?

Is there such as thing as a Maxim Owners Club in the UK? I have just got my hands on a 1985 700cc US import, and am new to biking so need as much friendly (and simple) advice as possible. The best way to do it would be to link up with other Maxim owners instead of badgering the hell out of all-and-sundry! So if anyone knows of such an Owners Club, please let me know!

I know most of us here are expeienced rideres etc and aware of the dangers of motorcycling but please be careful out there everyone, this comes about as i ws returning home from a shopping trip with the missus on monday and came upon a fatal accident involving a bike. it looked as though the rider had taken the bend too fast and ploughed into the side on an oncoming car, Passing the scene again yesterday the police were searching the area high up the hedge for something. It has made me think this ws not a R1 or anyother plastic rocket it was a big scooter, it would also appar the rider was only wearing at shirt and shorts, so please be careful and if yuo wanna go like …

Extracted from SW bikers A guy in a restaurant ordered squid and the waiter took him to a large tank in the corner to choose one. After studying all the squid in the tank he settled on a small green one in the corner with a moustache, the thing was obviously frightened probably knowing why he was there. The waiter took the sqid from the tank into the kitchen where Gervais the chef was waiting and gave him the order. Gervais placed the quivvering squid on the table and lifted the large mallet high to strike down on the poor creature, but as he did he noticed a tear running from the squid's eye. For the first time ever Gervais suffered an attack of concience burtsi…

Hi, im a relative newb, ive been riding for over a year now, and have recently got an SR125 SE. Ive had to change the engine for a newer one, as it decided to drop one of its valves in to the barel. The Newer engine is off of a 97 bike, and it is so far running well (ish). There is one problem though, when I come off the throtle in any gear above 3rd, the power will go compleatly, and the engine dies (as in no fuel being combusted), or when I give her a little throtle, she will sometimes become very laboured in reving, and will almost stall, or die (in neutral). It only seems to hapen when the engine is warm/hot. I think it could be the carb, or an air leak in to…
