Hi everyone, Im a total newbie to riding and bikes but fell in love with my bike. I picked it up today and i think im having a few teething problems.... its the gears, the owners manual and members on the forum say it has 6 gears, i can only get 4 gears?! with this it limits the bikes speed to 60mph at 10000rpm, at first i put this down to the bike not being able to cope as i am around 16stone but after reading other post this shouldnt make as much of a difference as im getting?! can someone please point me in the right direction as to whats going on with my bike?! thanks, Dan

  12. Started by Das,

Hi all, While doing research for my Yamaha I discovered this forum, and hope to receive guidance. I'm new to bikes, and even more green when it comes to engines, so I picked up a Clymers manual. This was a recent acquisition, and the previous owner was more interested in painting the tank than oil changes, new spark plugs, air filters, fork seals/covers, chain and a sprockets. At about 13,000 miles she needs some work, but runs strong. I try to do something every week to eventually get her back in good form. New fork seals, intake manifolds and a repaired header is in the near future. Das [Edit] Valve issue solved. Recently acquired 1978 XS400 aft…

A family of mice lived in Piccadilly Circus. One day the boy mice was walking home through the centre of Piccadilly in a daydream when a young female spotted him and screamed. It frightened him so much he jumped off the pavement into the path of a London bus. He picked himself up and crawled into a music shop' "Can I help You?" said the shop assistant. "Yes please" said the mouse, "have you got any mouseorgans?" "It's funny you should ask that, only this morning I had a young lady mouse asking for the same thing" "Oh, that must have been our Monica"

  19. hello i have an 86 radian yx600. it has sat for awhile. i can get it started but if i rev on it really hard and fast it sputters out (kind of like it is choking out). i have checked the valve clearance, timing, and compression. so my thought is the carb.. i took them apart and everything looked fine. also from time to time the carbs will just seep out fuel from an overflow valve. please help if you can, basically i have ran out of things to try and i really dont want to have to get rid of this classic speed demon -kyle
