As a little background, I used to be a regular on the forum and had a DT175mx. Ended up buying other bits and ended up with 2 DT175mx's both in bits. What I missed was riding a bit and the time to work on the bits so I sold the bits and brought a bike to ride around on. I missed some of the forum banter and am now looking to start a new project. Ideally I want a trails type bike that will suffer the occasional long ride and a few short rides. '70's or '80's and I would guess that a XT500 fits the bill (except maybe the cost). I am looking to spend about £500 on a rolling chassis or £1000 on something better and don't want the total spend, over about 12 months, to cost…

hi peeps i have an ultra short pipe on my 2001 R1,(bloody gorgeous) on a run last week the rev counter was reading 7000-zero, but it cleared after a few miles. the manual says this is an ex-up valve problem, it says it may cause engine damage ?? how serious is this, was thinking it is not recognising the short pipe i have got on, just dont want to fit the old pipe back on it, (well not until the first POOLE meeting anyhow. cheers rolls

You may have noticed that I haven't posted in the last few weeks. Truth is, I've been on hospital. Doing about 30-50 (cant quite remember) down a main road, when a car decided to pull out on me and give me flying lessons. Got rushed off to emergency in an ambulance, broke both tibia and fibula, had to have an operation quick-sticks. Going to be off the bike for a while now, luckily it was work's bike and not mine so don't have to get anythng fixed. If any1 on YOC works on anything to do with law (particularly compensation and insurance law) please contact me. I wont be walking for several weeks now, and wont be on the bike for longer. Please guys, ride safe…

Hello wise bikers, I own a yamaha xj 600, it's my first big bike. It was running beautifully until a hole one day opened up spewing out fuel from tank. So after draining fuel tank and discovered lot's of rust in it. so replaced tank with 2nd hand rust free one. Whilst sourcing a new tank I'd lost my job so the bike stood standing (outside) for close to half a year. But i wrapped bike in protective shrink wrap to ensure no water getting in to the engine block. Anyway when I got tank etc. I put in new spark plugs ( and battery) and I got my bike mate to clean out my carbs and tap. But despite our best efforts doesn't want to run.... the odd thi…

I know i've mentioned this bike before but thought i'd share pics taken at a recent local classic show. Very nice RD, would love this one in my garage!! And to pre-empt the inevitable question, its not a copy - its the real deal. One owner from new, never been restored or molested (apart from the 2 silly stickers) Hope someone else likes this as much as i do!
