My daughter has been looking for a new bike. She has been considering a Ninja 250 and we finally tracked one down. The problem was it was in southern Alberta....1160k's away. We left Prince George, in northern BC at 6:30 pm after she got out of university and drove 650k's to Edson Alberta where we got a motel room at 2 am. We slept for 4 hours and then drove 500 k's to Clarehome, Alberta to pick the bike up. The bike is a 2008 ZZR250. She bought it from the dealer who had originally sold it new to an older local lady in 2009. Apparently she has two other bikes and never rode the 250 so she took it back to the dealer and asked him to sell it on consignment. …

Well... I thought my bikes Idol was a bit high... sounds around 2-2.3kRPM and from what I understand it should be at 1.2k-1.3k So I began to hunt for my idol screw on the carb... could I find it? Noooooo I even looked to the manual to check I wasn't being a tit... turns out that there is NO idol screw!!! now I have been able to source near enough EVERY part for this bike and I have no friggin idea where to start with this thing... I've googled it but then it struck me that the bike has been heavily modified for off-road / mountain riding in wales! So what if this is a different carb? but on that same note are the idol screws not generally universal? Besid…

Hello fellow yammie fans. Although I'm not really a newbie, its my first time posting, a few years ago, i bought a DT175, I thought there was somthing special about it when i first saw it,and the seller told me that he believed it to be an ex-works bike, I took it with a pinch of salt but bought it anyway (too cheap to walk away from !!), however when i stripped the engine, all internal webbing was different to all the other DT's I've stripped, con rod was thicker than standard and the crank was lightend and balanced. What i need to know is how do i get a log book for it to get it back on the road when the engine and frame no.s (2K4-0031**) aren't even listed for DT's…

Just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with going long distance on a 250cc bike? I'm thinking of planning a 600 mile round trip for the first few warmer/drier days we have around here. My bike is an 07 Virago 250 with about 4250 miles on it. Its in real good shape. Planning on doing each 300 miles in 2 days with a little overnight camp inbetween. Think my bike will hold up or my butt will go first? lol. I have gone over 100 miles round trip, but thats 1/6th of what im planning, so any tips, warnings, or tricks to keep my butt from going to sleep would be appreciated!

Hello, Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem before. I changed the battery on my XT 125 X 2008 the other day , Correct battery , correct installation. When I started the bike the whole digital dash went up in smoke , nice black cloud. Now I am left with a bike and no dash. I see I can buy another one for £100. A bit worried that I attach another one and get the same problem. Any help appreciated. Thank you

I am stunned, proper gob smacked. I seriously reccomend you check your tanks, i am serious anybody that has an older bike. I have just been all over the TDR tank and you will not believe this its like a sieve. 8 holes at or near 2mm across a couple of 1mm jobies and a fking great one that is about a mm wide and 10mm long. I found all these by going over the bottom of the tank carefully and picking at any blemishes. I'm not talking massive blisters etc just tiny imperfections i mean tiny, the bottom of the tank is as clean as the top . I've spent the best part of 2 hours doing it. TDR tanks are rare, crikey the bikes are rare enough. If i hadn't checked thi…

Hi All, Just wondered if anybody would know what REAR RACK would fit my old XJ750,(the originals are as rare as rocking horse s**t) for instance would the rack from a Diversion model fit the pre diversion frame, I was offered a pair of panniers and rear rack from a diversion model but not to sure if they would even be a close enough fit to adapt to my bike. If you happen to know or just want to throw out a wild guess then please feel free to get in touch. I'm not to sure what the difference between the pre diversion and diversion models are so if you happen to know of anything else that will fit let me know. Thanks. Martin.

Hey peeps after leaving the XJ for many months sat in the car park on itsforks with no front wheel, i have finally bought a new tyre for it, its a Continental. and after many cups of tea, lots of shouting and swearing and a few tyre levers me and my dad managed to get the old michelin pilot sporty off and this new continental on, but what a fight it put up! the michelin was soft and squishy, and putting that on didnt take half as long as this new tyre did, the continental is much stiffer and appears to be made of a harder compound. my question is this, how would this new harder tyre affect handling, tyre life e.t.c HERE is the tyre i got, TK11

Hi All, I have just joined so this is my first post but have a few things I need help with. I have just purchased a 2009 FZ1n my first question is about the ecu mapping I have been told that these machines had problems in the early days with low down torque and were fixed by using a power commander and new exhaust slip mainly on 2006 2007 models, is this the case and has this been fixed on these later models or should I investigate further??????????? Secondly I am looking to buy some parts for the bike for safety and style but could do with some advice on quality price and your own personnel experiance, plus any additional information is always welcomed to improve m…

Hi, having read what some want in a newbie threat I will do my best to post that in here. inches = don't have any location = atm mostly in the garage or the bike wreckers searching for bits and pieces rides = yep have a few of them only 2 run atm the rest are either on the way out the door (the smallest scooter I own Eaglewing 150 trying to find a new home for it) or waiting to be worked on. I just bought a xj 750 that needs a tiny bit of work and as a bonus it came with a second 750 ( this turned out to be a 900 ) for spare parts. Both of those have matching numbers and I will eventually put the 900 on the road too. And somewhere in this whole mess I have a FJ 11…

Currently running Dunlop Sportmax which are good - after they're warm. I prefer something bit more predictable, must be getting old!!! Any recommendations? Budget is a problem as always too.
