The amount of times since getting my bike in March it has lashed it down is unbelievable. My whole street has more or less flooded now. Looks like it's going to be a while before I can go for a ride. I've ventured out in the rain before with waterproofs etc, but its not very nice and its dangerous, especially when the rain is this hard. Looks like its due to piss it down for the next week at least.

Hi, been looking for a renthal kit to replace my current standard set up, (looks like a push bike chain next to my mates wr250), but can't seem to find a renthal kit for the Dt, are there other models that will fit? I think its a 428 chain, but still unsure. If not a renthal are there other quality chain kits out there? Any help much appreciated Toby

Done the deal today to chop the XJ6 in for an FZ1. Nearly new with a few handy mods. Will be sad to see the XJ6 go, but as I have no car now, wanted a bike that was a tiny bit more fun. Had a ball-ache with the insurance, when I renewed the XJ6 I put the panniers and hugger as mods: the result of which means the underwriter wouldn't cover the FZ1. Had to cancel and go elsewhere, money down the drain. The best bit was both the old and new companies told me panniers, huggers, poncy indicators and stuff don't need to be declared. Damn it try to play by their rules and they still stiff you..... ,,,,, can't wait for the FZ1, 150bhp, EXUP, very excitificated n…

I recently done an oil change and I have managed to damage the thread that the Allen bolt from the oil chamber screws into. I have as a quick fix, do the PTFE mend, which seems to hold, but I think it's best to replace. I have a 95 (M) plate and seen quite a few replacement cases for sale on eBay, but none of them are from that year. Do I need to wait until a 95 clutch case becomes available or will anyone from any year do the job. Thanks in anticipation

Hi I have a virago 125cc and a few years back it started to refuse to start with the starter, I could still do a "running start"(dont know how you say this in english). It seems like it almost want to start, but not quite there, it will on the other hand start nicely on the starter when the engine is hot. I have changed the started, and done a few other jobs, but its been a while now, I have kinda given up on it, but here the other day I though, lets give it one more try:D When I think back, I think I might have pressed the starter while it was allready on, this might help to tell you whats wrong, because neither I nor the mechanics I have talked to have any clue. …

Hi folks, I stupidly scratched the tank yesterday with my tank bag (think a small stone was caught between the bag and the tank). The scratches don't seem to be too deep. Can anyone advise from experience which products would best sort this out ? The bike is black in colour. Cheers Mal.

Hi all im looking to see if any of you folk can tell me your choice of tyres for this bike. At the moment it has bridgestones on it and i do like the bridgestones as i have always had them on the sports bikes but im wondering if there is maybe a better choice for this bike. Also has anybody ever heard of putting bigger tyres on this bike, I know your not supposed to mess with the tyre sizes but just wondered.

Hi all! Years ago I acquired a DT175 that had a seized clutch. The engine number is 559-005931 and the engine number matches. I've done a search of the forum and found this link for the US model identification. It's coming up as a 1976 DT175C on that site, but according to my notes from at least a decade ago it's a 1977 DT175 C. If I remember right I got that information from someone at the local Yamaha shop. Does anyone know if that VIN is from 1976 or 1977? Is there much difference between the '76 and '77 models? I plan on starting a project thread as this bike is now a basket case and I have my work cut out for me... but I'm quite looking forward really. Thanks i…

Lesson learnt. If it between you and a pig, never try to defend yourself, the pig will alway win regardless of the facts. The copper had the wrong road road on his statement, knew nothing about DTi guidelines, did not know how to target a bike, could not say what part of the bike or me he aimed at. At the distance he clocked me at I was in a dip in the road and had pictues that did not show the bike in the ...dip, he swore he could see it but could not say how much he could see, even though he was targetting me with his laser? He stated under oath that he said nothing after he cautioned me but admitted to mentioning my rear number plate and the colour of my bike when …

I've just downloaded the CD "Classic FREE" album to my I.Pod. Just listened to "All Right Now" It is my favourite record of all times, Apart from Simon & Garfunkel "Bridge over troubled waters" Also downloaded Thin Lizzy. I also think that "Whiskey in the jar" is my favourite also. I also think "Itchycoo park" is my favourite song as well. But, I recon Jimi Hendrix's "all along the watchtower" is my best song of all times. Now I'm listening to "Telegram Sam" by T.Rex I'm so confused as to which my favourite song is my head hurts.

Just a conversation that i was having at work got me wondering on the thoughts here? just a discussion topic. I was argueing that the patina of use on my TDR, the paint worn by the footpegs on the frame and the slight craze in the graphics, only minor blemishes add to the bike. I think it gives it life, it has a story, like the only mark on the tank, a chip near the filler. It has led a sheltered life granted but so what, its still on the factory rear shock at 24years old. Some things like the hideously bad yellow tart up on the wheels had to go, but that aside its a beauty. Fellow at work who has a truly beautiful suzuki kettle, thinks it would be a perfect restor…
