Went to get on my bike today, had to remove the disc lock first... it was being a bit stubborn so I tried forcing it (idiot that I am) and managed to snap the key off in the lock. What is the best way of removing it without damaging the disc brake itself? I don't have a spare key as i got it with the bike when I bought it... Help!

hello i know its not a bike or a Yamaha but its still an engine and the theory is still the same, cant seem to find anything on the matter so i thought id try here. (id understand if no one replies) right, iv got a go-kart engine its a honda gx 160 clone (5.5hp) and yes iv looked on google for tuning tips and safe to say iv managed to do most of them! iv de-governed the engine and put stronger valve spring in so it revs higher (5000rpm), iv put a free flow air filter on and a straight through exhaust, and might be putting a mikuni carb on (a spare xvs dragstar carb with smaller jets ) now iv read up about ignition timing for this engine but i get confu…

Ladies and gentlemen, I need some help on a new helmet please. Im looking at a arai tour x3 or shoei hornet - basically that type of helmet (dual sport) but a: I cant really justify £280-350 for a helmet that will be used for less than 100 days a year but as they say what price do you put on your head? b: its cheaper to buy online than a high street shop but the last time i brought a helmet i brought a helmet that cut the circulation to my head - i thought it would get better over time it didn't! How do i measure properly without buying a helmet to big or to small again or is it just better to go the shop? c: best place to buy d: what recommendations for a he…

Dont buy 'Bike it' bike covers . . . Thier crap. Ive had two off them in a month and both have come apart at the seams and the wind gets in and rips them apart leaving my bike open to the elements. If the covers are this bad, whats the rest of thier product range like . . . As cheap and nasty as the covers i suspect ! Give them a wide birth !

What a remarkable difference in the weather today from the passed couple... bright sun, no wind, clear skies. I got out for a totally unexpected hour and a half run along the twisties. The youngest daughter climbed atop her dad's bike, so I snapped a few. It's not enough she's got her own. She'll be wanting mine soon. I know that look. 40MR

Hello peeps the snow has resided, i have a new front tyre on its way for the XJ, and it is time for me to venture outside of the warm confines of my 4x4 back onto the XJ... but i cant help but want to tinker with it... so far the only toys i have are heated grips, but i want to change that, what options are available for an old(er) bike such as the '89 XJ? i used to have a fender extender but that fell off in town and i ran it over, i have also been looking at universal steering dampers but unsure as to how i would fit one, and a motorcycle radio with headphone attachments basically looking for any gadgets or toys to make the journey more comfortable, input appr…

Hiya peeps. in relation to my previous thread where i asked about the reliability/rideability of the FJ1200, i have started looking elsewhere, my only apprehension about the FJ is that its only got a 5 speed box, last thing i rode that had a 5 speed box was the DT and that felt like it really needed a 6th gear. so, i have set myself a criteria, and am now looking for a bike which can meet it for when its time to let the XJ go. 1: Must be able to buy one for under £1000 2: Must be able to do 300+ miles in comfort 3: Must be capable of cruising at 90-100mph 4: must have a 6 speed box would be nice if i could find a yamaha aswell, all my bikes so far have been…

I joined the Triumph forum back in July, but there is no sense of community there, just a bunch of one timers posting and not contributing to anything. You guys need to buy Triumphs and help me out. Get on it!

Name is Ross. I like steel... machining, forging, welding, shaping, etc. 1st bike: ’79 Yam 650 twin (30 years ago) Current bike: ’07 Yam V*1300 Raven (with a mod or two) Father of 4. My youngest daughter (17y/o) is into Steam Punk Bobbers (google ‘em) and keeps me busy fabricating add-ons & modifying small cc metric cruisers… makes for a lot of quality father/daughter time, except she’s learning words she shouldn’t and scaring the boys away. We’ve got six inches of snow and it’s damn cold, which probably explains why I’m here half way through my second pint texting strangers. Everyone have a good day… solute.

Hi all, past my test on Saturday 29th-May-10 (that's another post & 1 hell of a horror story with a happy ending)& I've been a bit forgetfull/lazy about getting a cover, I did start out by looking on the internet a lot & phoning companies but I nerver received a straight answer! It seemed they were only interested if I was buying something rather than pointing me in the right direction, I even asked one company if a certain cover would fit my XVS 250cc Yamaha Dragster & all I got was "I don't know", even when I told him how long & high the bike is!!! I seem to coma across Oxford a lot & two types 'Rainex' & 'Stormex', it seems to me that…

Hi everyone. Im new to the forum and to riding. Passed my test at the end of August and have an XJ600 Divvy, which I ride everywhere and love. It has a couple of little niggles, one of which being it does not idle very well, and another being it looses power at low revs. Can anyone shed any light on possible causes please? Thank you.

I'm on a YBR125 at the moment, probably going to do my test around february time... soon as that's done i'd like to get a bike that actually goes! don't get me wrong, the YBR is pretty awesome as a learner, but as soon as you get on anything fast... not a chance. So what do you guys reckon I should look at? I'm 19 now so I'll be restricted to 33bhp - not much but 3x the power I'm running at the moment! So I'm thinking a 500 twin or something that'll restrict well but still have plenty of grunt ive been looking at the kawasaki gpz500 and honda cb500s (sacrilege! not a yamaha )... and im 6'2" and around 80kg, so I don't reall wanna be too cramped! Cheers …
