sorry if this is the wrong section.. new to the forum. I hope someone can help.. I've got a 96 FZR 1000 which due to the loss of me garage has been stood outside undercover over the winter.. Recently easily MOT'd but have picked up a problem with tickover (have to keep the throttle about 1500RPM to avoid a stall).. Improved since new fuel was put in as previously the bike wouldn't rev over 4000RPM when warm. I've been told a to take it on a good long outing to get the cr@p out the carb bowls or to spray carb cleaner through whilst running (iffy about touchin carbs).. does this ring true with anyone..? Cheers in advance.

I got up this morning, sun shining, said to the other half that today was going to be a great day. Got ready for work so on with my M/C trousers, I uncover the bike and off with the security whilst I have my last cuppa and ciggie, turn the key and.....................................nothing! I had left the parking light on all night. I don't have any jump leads so I plug in the Optimate to see if I can get a trickle into it and get it started (too old to push the bugger). The Optimate just looks at me, only the green light on and not even doing it's normal flashing lights routine. I guess there was not even enough power to show that it was connected. It is a new batter…

Hello, I have a 1998 Yamaha YZF-R1. I replaced the lid on the block, and hats that they are on top of the valves, they fell away. I put them back but I did not know the exact placement of the washers under their hats. Now if the engine start and then came the valve clatter. otherwise the engine starts and runs perfectly. whether it is doing something wrong? Thank you

Got the new tyres fitted to the SV today as planned. The bike seems to go where I point it better but that is not surprising seeing how squared off the old ones were. Nice and smooth ride home of about 20 miles whilst I start to scrub them in, but feeling good. I ended up getting Avon SP2 Sport on the rear and Avon SP2 Supersport on the front. Fitted at MTS in Nottingham and although I had to wait a fair while because he was very busy (not a bad thing in itself) I was pleased with the service, free tea and general biker chat with the other guys getting their tyres done. Based on today I would recommend them. Lets see how long they last!

ok, loads of us wear them but how do you stop yer shades getting scratched when you ain't wearing them. Have tried a soft bag, but the arms scratch the inside of the lenses, have now got a hard case but it's the size of a bleedin' suitcase in my pocket. There has to be an easier way.

Hi folks, it amazes me how difficult it is some days to get past the stigma of a bad day for new riders. Today I got to listen to half a dozen stories of people getting injuried on a bike and that i should be wary or better yet not even try it. Ha, whats the point of living if your not going to chase your dreams and try to live to the fullest. my grandpa "borrowed" his first bike from a german officer during the war, road that thing till the end some 40ty years and im sure that there are many here that have gone years without incident and would never trade it up there time on the road to be closed in a moving box. i'd love to hear a few great bedtime stories …

Hi, just looking for quick advice on whether it is acceptable to mix a few brands together, or whether I should stick to the same brand when it comes to leather jacket and trousers? I currently have this jacket >> http://www.daytona20...ganclaraevo.jpg but no trousers! I struggle to find trousers that fit me well as I am tall and slim. Do you think these will suit/match the jacket, and are they good quality? >> http://www.jsaccesso...f/t/ftl314w.jpg (black/white), http://www.mandsmoto...0002365_300.jpg (black) Thanks for your opinions in advance!

Up til now I have been printing Google Maps to get me from A to B. I've got to B, but can't seem to be able to get to the final destination. Would a Satnav be better? If so, which one would be better for a bike? Do you need earphones for a satnav? Also, would an old fogey like me understand it?
