Dropped into Ryka's yesterday for a bite to eat and a cup of tea,as you can imagine the place was heaving. While sitting in the shade supping my tea I couldn't help but notice that there were a number of bikers wearing what I can only describe as their Sunday best, leathers in pristine condition spotlessly clean and trousers that didn't appear to have a single crease in them. I don't know about you guys but I try to keep my leather jacket clean but even in summer I find that after just a couple of hours in the saddle I'm covered in all sorts of crap. Just wondering if some of these guys actually ride.

When I pull away, my engine simply rises in revs until I change up a gear. When I slow down, I drop gears and each time the revs rise slightly, before dropping to idle as I clutch in and stop. So... Why is it so many other bikes go REVV... REVV... REVREVREV-REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVV as they pull away? Same for stopping - They're idling along, clutch in and it's just this constant REV REV REV as they come to a stop. This isn't only a Summer biker thing, their idles are properly set so the bike isn't about to stall, there's often no traffic to try and bully out of the way... and most have been riding long enough to get over the sound of their own engine. So what'…

I'm thinking of doing route 66 next year, one of the group things with proper guides and bikes supplied, when I ride I always wear a leather jacket and gortex trousers but I know that on a lot of the route it gets very hot which is fine while riding but there will also be a lot of walking around at the various stops along the way. Any suggestions as what to wear that will give protection should I need it but not fry my ball when walking about in the heat.

Just a quick query, can I change the old bulbs for new LEDs in the instrument cluster on the FJ? I only ask as I have it all in bits and while I'm at it I thought it would be a good idea to change the old bulbs out while I can as it's a bit of a bastard to get at when the fairing is on, in there at the moment are the standard 3.4 watt capless white bulbs and after seeing someone on here change his bulbs out was wondering if I needed to change anything vis-a-vis the voltage output, or can I just chuck the existing ones and replace them with new shiny LEDs? Any help - advise - comments on previous experience appreciated.

Somebody mentioned to me it is not advisable to run 2 strokes for long distances..no more than 100km at a time. Is there any truth to this..can a 2 stroke cruise (obviously not at high revs) all day long without risk to the engine? Will my RD350 be ok to go touring?

Someone in our local club bought a bike from the UK over the internet only to find out it was a scam. Ive included some details here in case anyone might know something. Bike is a 1969: Velocette Venom The ad: John, Here is every restorers dream! A nicely dry-stored Velocette Venom 500cc that has been sleeping since 1976! This example is in need of total restoration. Having said that the engine does turn over nicely and feels good. The gearbox selects all gears OK. I doubt there would be much trouble in getting this bike running and back on the road as is but really, to be safe I really recommend a complete strip down and thorough clean through. All alloy engine - …

Having only been riding 'big bikes' for just over a year now and being on the small and light side I was worried about taking a pillion. After reading up on advice and taking with other biker friends I bit the bullet and took my lad on the back today. We went for a bit more than a little jaunt as we did a 100 mile round trip to Lincoln! He loved it apart from his new lid pinching a bit and I learned a lot about carrying a pillion. He had already been on one of my mates bikes so he knew just what to do and once we were under way I hardly noticed he was there. Biggest problem was stopping and making sure the bike was upright to keep the balance right. On the return journey …
