Greetings, had a couple new bikes way back when but don't buy new now, take your time and look around for a good second hand bike. What Andrew says makes a lot of sense but then it would as he is an Elvis fan after all.

Glad you did not get too badly hurt, trouble is when you get to my age those bruises and sore bones seem to hurt much more. I tend to wear on open faced helmet in the summer but seeing the damage to your lid makes me think.

DT I know that MOT's are not perfect but there are some riders out there that have probably had their lives saved by MOT testers who have found scary things, I have never had a bike fail an MOT because all my bikes were regulary seviced and well maintained but I have seen bikes, cars, vans etc out there that should not of been on the road because of the state they were in. Unfortuantly not all owners care enough about the state of their machines and I think MOT's are a safty net that we need.

Riding the Surrey and Hampshire roads this summer I've see hundreds of scooters on the road, they seem to fall into two groups, the first are old farts like me who in the main are riding their original machines from the 60's and are quite rightly proud of mint condition scooters and the second are young uns that have gone for the retro look. Sadly the last group of young uns that I saw were coming out of the local crem, it seems that they had lost one of their own, I think I pissed off some car drivers behind me but I stopped and let what seemed like hundreds of scooters out in front of me, it just seemed to be the right thing to do.
