  5. Started by Adil,

Hi All, my name is Adil. I am a 46 year old male living in San Diego, California. Recently I changed jobs and now work just 2 miles away from the office. This is why I started looking for a small bike and I fell in love with a Yamaha CT1 175, apparently a 72, could be a 71. I paid $750 and picked it up today, knowing that I would have to put some work in to make her reliable and fun. I am pretty good with tools and have a fairly good technical understanding. List of things I need to do: - take a pic and post it here - find out what year it is - buy some parts and misc So far I ordered: helmet, goggles, rear tire, front pads, left lever assembly (mine has br…

Hi all, I'm from the wild west of Ireland, currently without a bike, but passed my test about a year ago. Plan is to get my hands eventually on an XJ600 or similar as a commuter to start with. For years have loved the thought of touring Scotland, up around the lake district looks absolutely beautiful. This may be slightly longer term plan as I have a couple of wee wans to fend for at the minute. Anyway bit the bullet and got the test out of the way last summer as I've got to start somewhere. Hope I'm welcome, (all be it premature without a bike).....

  7. Started by Loafy,

Hi, Well i have only been in PEI for 5 Years and have just got hold of a very nice YZF600 Thundercat in silver and black and in great shape too. Actually i am very impressed with the bike and as the island is a small place this bike is ideal with enough power so far for here. Back home in Blighty had the GSXR and an RF900 Suzuki and my last bike was a Cagiva Gran canyon with the Ducati S4 engine which was a great bike. Only ever had 3 yamaha's in the past, RS125, RD250 air cooled and the Nutter RD350LC. I will post a picture of it later at some time. Loafy...

  8. I picked up a DT50m or possibly an mx model last week, i was walking past my girlfriend who was sitting at the laptop on facebook when i glanced out of the corner of my eye the distinct shape of a long lost lover in one of the photographs in the chat page she was on. Ha, i hear you say, he is going to cheat on his missus - no youre wrong, i had a closer look over her shoulder and saw that it was the afore mentioned DT50. which happens to be the first motorcycle that i ever owned and therefore the bike that took my pavement pounding virginity . Being that i was only 13 at the time one of my mates suggested that we should swap my DT for a Datsun 120y car which after a fe…

Like most of my generation got into bikes by beating around on little farm bikes in place that i shouldn't have! Did my test as a young man and had a variety of work bikes and the little work hack. Just got back to being a yamaha owner after a break of five or six years. Had the old diversion which i toured all over europe on. Unfortunately met a drunk driver and it ended up in the scrapyard. By this time kids had arrived and i got a little Honda CB500 for hacking back and forth to work. Wife said i deserved a new bike so got a new diversion not long ago, l loved my old one, this is even better.

Hi, I'm Toby from London, UK. Always dreamed of getting a bike and finally have now - I turn 30 this year so maybe it's a "cusp of 30" crisis! Really loving it so far and the YBR125 is great for what I need, getting around London and occasional escapes into the country. I cannot believe how economical it has been. Just as a quick guide useful to anyone looking to budget for one, here is everything I have spent... £1,200 - Silver YBR125 2007 in great condition with 5000 miles on the clock, bought off Piston Heads for £500 - Helmet, leathers, gloves, hi-vis jacket, all bought at Infinity Motorcycles in London £180 - RAC Insurance, TPFT (third party fire…

  15. Hi, I came across this site while researching my dad's vintage Yamaha 100 YL-1, and was wondering if anyone might be able to provide a lead. My dad loved this bike and couldn't part with it even though it's been stored in the garage since he shipped it to the UK from Malaysia in 1968 (although I believe that he first registered it in Malaysia in 1966). It's in amazing condition considering it's been stored for the past 44 years!! Now the bike is in my possession and I would love to pass it on to an enthusiast to breath life into it again! Any ideas/ suggestions/ interest would be most gratefully received. I have photos but haven't worked out how to upload yet!

Hi, I've been riding for a year and half on my CBT now and I love my little YBR, through wind, rain or snow she gets me where I need to be. Unfortunately, today, a jealous driver saw me coming down the hill next to the stationary traffic and thought it would be a good idea to close the gap i was indicating into. After an unsuccesful combination of swerving and breaking (one or the other apparently, do not repeat) i've ended up with broken clocks, wonky handlebars and a bruised ego. Can anybody give us some guidance as to how to repair this? Will any old handlebars fit? do i need part numbers to get a new clock cover? also the frame for the clock cover has been b…
