Hi all, I just purchased a very abused Chappy to bring it back to life with the help of my 10 and 5 year old sons. After taking it all apart I am finding lots of issues. Should be fun. I am hoping I can lean on your expertise a bit. I have a picture attached of how the bike looked when we brought it home. Thanks for your help. https://www.dropbox.com/s/oprvcxslo7rqb6m/Chappy02.jpg Jeroen

  6. Hi all I have just joined this club after getting a Yamaha TDM 900 its a great bike with bags of torque so that means fewer gear changes, and as the engine is a parallel twin with the crank set at 270 degrees it sounds and runs similar to a V twin so the engine weight is central making it handle soooo easily, the only problem I have with it is something to do with an air intake flap that makes for jerky running at small throttle openings, something that was sorted in 2007 by remapping by all accounts but mine is a 2012 model ? It is manageable with care though apart from that its a superb ride, my other bike is a 1962 AJS 650cc twin great fun to ride. Is there a Yamaha c…

Hello, I am posting on behalf of my dad who is the actual owner, but as he is 86 he is obviously not a computer type person! He is having a few issues with this newest acquisition and I would like to try and get him a few decent answers. He is a great enthusiast of classic bikes, and has had many over the years. In addition to the CS1, at the moment he has a Moto Guzzi V50 500cc, BSA C15 250cc, Honda Benley 185cc and he gave me a BMW R60/600 10 yrs ago....does that get him a little bit of respect? We would love to hear from anyone who could help with- throttle cables fitting and running on one cylinder and spewing oil out of exhaust!

Hello everyone! I passed my unrestricted UK motorcycle licence test a couple of weeks ago, and am now the proud owner of a new (old!) 1997 XVS 650 DragStar. Here's a photo: I've already removed the crash bars and footboards and put the stock pegs back on. I'm thinking of starting a thread in the "projects" forum, basically to record my efforts at attempting to become a bit more mechanically savvy, and to try to put right that various bits and bobs which need doing on the bike. Do you think there would be any interest in that? Talking of which, if anyone wants to check out my post in the "cruiser" forum, I would appreciate some help with som…

Hi, As a reasonably old bloke, just got my first Yamaha, had several bikes over the too many years from British to the other three japanese makes. Now need something light to keep riding with bad back,so hence the little YBR. Always wanted an RD250/350 back in the seventies, but chose a K4 250 Honda as my one and only new bike. Always fixed my own so happy to pass on any tips if needed to new riders. All the best Pete

Hi All Just joined but would like confirmation that the Carb version tank has a hole for the petrol tap and another in the centre rear for the sender, whereas the injection type just has a large cylindrical hole for the pump. Any other differences to distinguish the different years would be helpful. Thanks in advance Pete

I am 18 yrs of age and I study at Mildenhall Sixth Form College, I am a learner rider and have been riding for over a year and a half now, my bike is a blue Yamaha XT125X with the gold rims and since I have had it the electronics have been the down fall about the bike but it is a very comfortable, easy riding bike for myself as a learner. my hobbies and interests include off roading on my pitbike, airsoft and long summer rides with my dad on his fireblade. so there you have it something about myself tha…

  18. Hi One and All, I've got a 2010 XVS950A which is playing up when starting, (or NOT, as the case may be). On 2 separate occasions, the bike has failed to start, depite repeated attempts, for 20 mins. Turn the key and the speedo needle and warning lights all perform as they should, press the start button and the engine turns, but won't fire. Then, for no reason, the bike decides to start on the umpteenth attempt. I've taken it back to the main dealer, who couldn't replicate the problem and told me that they could find nothing wrong and that I'd have to take it back if it happened again. I assume that the Yahama engine management system, (or whatever performs fault tracing/d…
