Hello folks I have just taken ownership of my 1st Yamaha - a 1993 YZF750R. Lovely so far but dodgy colour! The manual is suggesting 20W40 from 5 degrees plus or 10W30 for up to 15 degrees. As my riding will go both below and above these temperatures, wouldn't a 10W40 be better as it covers all ranges of temperature? I hesitate to buy it as it isn't recommended by the book! What do you good folk use in your YZF's for good all year round use. Thanks, Bobby.

  2. Hi, first post from a new member I passed my practical on an SR125 and loved how reliable it was when I had it. Now after a while I've found myself with the opportunity of buying a thundercat. I discovered it by talking to the owner at a social gathering and he mentioned that he used to ride a thundercat. So I asked him to show it to me and at the bottom of the garden under a tree, from under a cover was unveiled a mint looking sliver/yellow thundercat. Bone stock from what I could see (apart from a yolk cover and a tank pad). This guy had buggered his shoulder up about 4 years ago and found that he just couldn't operate the controls of the bike safely enough to w…

  7. I recently bought a 2003 YZF 600R. The bike is in great condition and has been running very well. There have been a few times when I start it up in neutral and it idles around 1000rpms and then cuts off, even if i try and give it gas. When this has happened I have turned the choke on and then it is fine but i thought i didnt have to use the choke unless it is cold or the bike has sat for numerous days. Just wondering what the problem is. This is my first bike after taking the MSF course so I would not be suprised if it is something simple im missing. I dont have the owners manual either. Thanks.

Hello all, I'm looking to get one of these fine motorcycles, based on some of the research I've done on it, they seem like a good allrounder which is what I'm after. I know about the 2nd gear issue, but was wondering if there are any other things I should watch out for in particular on this model, when test riding, any other known issues? Strange question, but, are colours an issue? Some of them are pretty gaudy (orange) so would these be less valuble, or harder to resell, like a chocolate brown car?? I hope to have one by mid to late summer, funds allowing.... Thanks in advance . Fester...

I've heard many stories of EXUP valves sticking or breaking on Yamaha. How do I know that my new purchase is OK in this depertment? It seems to go quite well but, compared to my previous bike (a Honda 400 SuperFour) the Yam could have square wheels and be a better performer! Because I've made such a big leap, I thought this bike would scare the pants off me. Is it OK or do I just need to take it above the 6500 revs that I've subjected myself to so far? Hopefully I will get used to my new bike soon and I won't feel the need to ask any more silly questions. Thanks again.

Hi guys, got a little bit of money lying about (Not enough for a new bike before anyone suggests it!) and am looking to upgrade the YBR a little. I was thinking of 2 new tyre's and a Xenon bulb upgrade (As i do often ride at night) and then ran out of ideas! I have heard that pilot sport and city demon are both quite good, anyone rate one over the other? Got naff nylon ones on there at the mo so i think anything will be an improvement! Also what else can be done to a YBR to spruce it up a little? Sure some of you biking veterans have more ideas than me. Any input welcome!

How do I know which postion the petcock is set on? Is the longer part of the handle I turn the pointer? Or is the other end? On the left says res> on the bottom says on then to the right says <pri . Can some send a pic of a petcock pointing to Pri then res. then on postion. I am so confused. In the morning when I go start it I got to put the switch to the right for it to start which i'm assuming thats the pri postion ? It wont start if the longer part of the switch is down which looks to me to be the on postion. Or do I have a bad petcock?

Hey! I bought a Seca II about 4 months ago and I am loving every minute of it. Its red in color. It is in the shop now though. I am having the wheels painted white. I think the white wheels with red bike would look nice. I am trying to find lower fairing (engine cover part) for the Seca II. Is there fairing from any other bike that can be modified to fit the Seca II? I really hope you guys have a solution. Thanks alot. -Roops

First post... Hi everyone! Recently got a yam sr. And bought a full set of crash bars from eBay. Just can't figure out how to fit them. I have a feeling they may only fit the pre 1991 modles. Any help or crudley drawn diagrams would go a long way. Thanks in advance See you on the roads!
