Really loving riding at the moment. Apart from having to shadow hop when I park it, I am having a lot of fun... Is there anyone here from Hampshire or local to Hampshire?

So, Again, another noob question. I know some people don't ride in the winter months, but due to commuting, I will have to. So, what advise do you guys give to a newbie in the rain. Are there particular things that are deceivingly slippy on the road etc etc. Also, what about maintenance, is there anything i should be making sure i do on a regular basis to help the bike though the winter?

Hi I have an xt125x that I am getting back on the road. The headlight does not work...it works off the bike. I have traced the problem to the black earth wire from the back of the light. Whilst all the other lights work, a quick resistance check is showing the black lead is not grounded. Now...the black wire disappears into the wiring loom and must connect to ground somewhere. I have a wiring diagram which shows it links up to all the other lights...they all work remember...so it must be a fault either at the connection of that black ground wire somewhere or a fail in the wire..... So question...does anyone know where it connects to ground...or will I have to strip th…

Hi All, Bought a yamaha XJ6 N for my commute around town and boy is it fun! Been adding a few bits and bobs to it and generally replacing OEM with Chinese plastic but still its looking pretty badass these days. Even if it does make a racket ;-) What do you guys think? Anything overly critical instantly recieves a slap in the face with a motorbike glove as challenge to a race around London...

Hiya peeps. I've had my FJ1200 ABS for almost a month now, and it's a cracking bike, reminds me of when that crazy texan guy was riding the nuclear bomb in the film Dr Strangelove. But anyway, I've just changed the clutch master and slave cylinder seals, sorted out the dodgy wiring that made the headlight flicker and a few other bits and pieces, but theres a few things left to do; Dashboard lamps, I'm sure only one of them is working because I can't see my fuel gauge, clock or speedo below 90mph at night, what size and type of bulb do I need?. The speedometer face is loose within the dashboard, you can see it rattling around in there, how can I get the clu…

Hi folks, Any help here will be greatly appreciated. Recently acquired a barn find DT125R. Bike is in a shocking state and came in various boxes etc. Whilst putting it together to see what parts are missing, I got the frame number from the neck of the bike, and emailed Yam Customer Support who have come back telling me its a 1990 DT125R, first registered in 1992, and provided me with the registration number (as number plate is missing). I then done one of these online vehicle checks to check the history (specifically stolen etc.) and it came back all clear. When lifting out the engine and making a start on stripping it, it looks as though the engine number is a…

So, random question and something I haven't even thought about before, but do you guys spend the extra on the premium stuff. If so, any brand preference? Any Brands to avoid?

Just got a Yamaha YB 100 off of ebay, 1989 29K on the clock and has been dumped by the PO, a young lad who knows nothing about bikes or how to fix them and a Dad who wants his garage back ! So I am the proud owner of a 2 stroke which I haven't had since 1967ish ! Winter is sorted then just need to find out if it will run and ride plus what if anything needs replacing, I will be back with questions about 2 strokes soon. PS anyone got a manual?

Here is a question that is again a bit noob, but something that you may like to indulge in a little. What do you do on a weekly / monthly basis in terms of maintenance / checks and cleaning?

hi all just passed my A2 test and i have been doing some researching on a bike that takes my fancy a Yamaha TRX850 Age 19-20 - 47 bhp max: the A2 licence. This is where the rules become slightly complex. From the age of 19, you are permitted to take an A2 test (which must be taken on a bike of at least 395cc, with a power output of between 25kW/33bhp and 35kW/47bhp). If you don't already hold an A1 licence you will need to do a CBT beforehand, as always, and pass a theory test, before you take the practical test. Upon passing, the rider is restricted to bikes with a limit of 35kW/47bhp and a power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.2kW/0.26bhp per kg, for two years. The …

Having spent 4 1/2 hours riding this afternoon with only a 5 minute petrol stop my buttocks are complaining vociferously. Do any of you lot use a gel seat and if so did it make an appreciable difference to your comfort. I had to practically unfold myself to get off the bike at Race Leathers in Darwen and as I was just about to hobble into the shop for a pair of braces (waistline has expanded past the point where the pop fastener on my HG trousers can remain shut) a guy in a parked AMG Merc decided that I was the anti-Christ due to being a biker. Apparently we ALL ride like lunatics but the grey haired ones are the worst ! I had to laugh as his chosen target had taken a …

Whipee, Just found out I have won two tickets to this years Silverstone MotoGP. I entered the MCN Fantasy Road race competition, I was top of the list for the first few races but didn't realise until I got an email yesterday that I had come top in the first Game round as I wasn't really looking at the emails I was getting with the results. Only thing now is working out the logistics to see if me and the wife can actually go... Any one else going?
