Hey So I took the carb apart, replaced the O ring, the needle valve set and the gasket. I cleaned it up well with carburetor cleaner. Put it back together and now my bike start with choke and one kick. The thing is that the RPMs are really high and if I try to push the choke back in, the rpms get out of control. This doesn't make sense to me since I thought that when you pull the choke out is when you engage it and a richer mixture of gas goes in. For a moment I thought the accelerator cable was caught on something or too tight to I loosened it, but nothing. I tried playing with the air intake and the idle but no luck . are there any users here who own an xj700 maxim, they are few and far between, its amazing how many people argue with me its not what i say it is, usually spouting off what they know it is/was built from even though they have never seen one before! i'm interested in what other people do with theirs, tips about looking after them that sort of thing.

Got soaked to the bone today, I had almost forgotten about the rain with the decent summer we have had. It has got cold lately and it looks like winters on its way. I don't mind the cold but, the getting piss wet through annoys me. Better find my waterproofs.

Yesterday I thought I would take advantage of what's left of the warm sunny weather and took a ride out instead of working in my garden. I rode to box hill and instead of going straight into Rykers cafe I went to the top of the hill which is something that I haven't done in years. Does anyone know what tools I need to replace chain on 82 sr250? bought new chain on ebay but dont know how to install and manual i have doesnt explain. I know i need to break old chain and have a grinder to do that with.also where can i find aftermarket cut off switch and turn signal switch prefereably chrome.?

10 months ago I went to my local Yam dealer for a battery for my 535 Virago and came out with my 1300 midnight star, I was a bit nervous to start with as its so much bigger and heavier than the 535 but didn't take too long to get used to it. I've just clocked up 2000 miles on it, none of those miles were commuting as I am a self employed gardener but were totally purely for pleasure and mostly in glorious sunny weather . Hi just a few questions firstly graphics want to get some up to date ones for it anyone know where to get some made up .next wheels I'm wanting to put SM wheels on it will 125 wheels off a dt or a wr 125 fit or will wr250 fit and last but not least exhaust does the dt 125 one fit,I've been researching all of these things and can't seem to find out for sure on nothing the wr 200 is very similar any help appreciated thanks paul

After rebuilding my stock standard Elsie I was a little disappointed it just won`t power wheelie thru the powerband no matter how much I ring its neck. Not comfortable with it as I prefer doing power wheelies (find them easier to control), but thought I would try slip the clutch in first to see what happens. WHOAAA..must say it surprized me how quick she reared up. Need sum more practice...
