as the topic says , just bought a 1960 vw splitty from California , need the garage space , I've got a 71 yamaha YDS7 250 needs a bit of TLC all there and the wheels go round as well , only problem is , it has an RD 250 engine in .............Is it worth anything ? or is it a trip down the tip

Hey all - any suggestions on removing light rust from a tank? I've used Rusteco in the past - it works great but is pricey - cus you really need a gallon of the stuff to do a good job...$100 for the liquid and $135 for the gel. You CAN re-use it -which is great but still procey. Rusteco I've also found a Yamaha product for $40 on CoolRetroBikes.com - a two part system - one removes the rust - the other coats the tank. I'm not a fan of coating gas tank at ALL - I think it's asking for trouble (short of a little motor oil - that's different.) as i am 16, have a bike and am stupid i have decided on a few things i would like to do with my bike over the winter when i am not using it. first off i am going to repair all scratches on the bike so it looks like a new bike for next year when i begin to use it again more, and as i am selling the bike at some stage next year. long way off but you have to think about these things. the other stupid thing i want to do is to fit a new exhaust pipe. i am sick of my bike sounding like a pathetic weedy peice of shit . to me and all of my friends my bike looks brilliant and i love it. it looks great and rides even better . but is there anything i can do about the exhaust no…

Most of my riding this year was in Georgia,Tennessee, N.Carolina,WestVirginia,Virginia,Maryland'Ohio,a bit of Pennsylvania and of course Ontario. Hi all, 1st-off apologies if I do something wrong as this is my 1st posting and I'm on a steep learning-curve. After some 15+ years away from biking I have made a return with the purchase of an XJ600n diversion. It is (hopefully) going to be a weekend fun-bike and weekday commuter. I also intend as a hobby to tackle most maintainance jobs myself. I recently removed the centre-stand to re-grease the bolts/pins and am in the process of re-fitting. I am struggling to replace the spring which holds the stand in place when retracted. Is there a technique anybody can recommend or a certain tool required?? hiya all glad to be here I am having a problem with my yamaha 400 maxim it starts and runs fine but it dosent idle down fast enough it is like you are power shifting all the time come to a stop and it takes a few to idle down any help with tis would be great i have redon the carbs and cant seem to find anything wrong with them like i said it starts fine and runns great just wont idle down fast enough ? thx ed
