hi all, bought an 83 xv 500 a year ago, picked it up in glasgow. rode it back to norwich, found out from a previous mot it came from lowestoft. since buying it it seems that this nice little machine does not exist. haynes say it doesnt in their handbook, any spares website i go on do not list it.. which may explain why the maintenance has been poor. are there any more xv 500 riders out there? please tell me i'm not alone. i need to find out where i can get parts. most pressing is an airfilter. paper type it's got sport filters but hasnt been rejetted so runs a little rough at tickover i also need rocker gaskets and clutch side gasket. theres a small leak when warm not he…

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/nocharges4bikes/ Hi All Someone has posted this on the prime ministers petitions page. I have put the link on MCN aswell but it would be good if as many people as possible can sign it. They allegedly need 750,000 signatures before they'll look at it - not sure how accurate that is but if we can bump it up a bit it might help!! Thanks Mark

Hi and hello to you all I'm an ex telegram boy (boy messenger) from way back in the early seventies. I used to ride BSA Bantams 175 but my own bikes were a Yamaha rd125 and rd350b which were fantastic bikes back then and still are now according to little old me! The bike I always wanted though was the xs650b but never got to get hold of one then due to females etc etc Now i have one and have been restoring her for the last 2 years to a lovely standard and been taking her out for long rides this year everywhere. Brilliant bike and after the restore rides fantastic. Anybody out there got a similar model to mine? 1976 XS650B UK ROADSTER http://i186.photobucket.com/alb…

tonight while i was at work, some asshat hit my bike with their car. they didn't bother to leave a name, number, etc. damage: broken clutch lever shredded left hand grip broken mirror damaged lights/blinkers switch both left side blinkers are cracked cosmetic damage all along the left side and the worst;:::: the gear shifter is jammed in under the engine cover, so i cant even take it out of gear to get it loaded up. luckily our parking lot is covered by a closed circuit camera. hopefully the tapes haven't been taped over yet, and it was panning to the right spot in the lot when this happened. i just don't understand the mentality where people have so …

Hi. Just dropping a quick message to introduce myself. I'm Nathan and the owner of a 07 midnight black R6. I was the owner of a ebony (I like black) Kawasaki ZX636 (let the flaming begin ) until it was written-off by a bloke in a 4x4. Unfortunately I was on the bike at the time so it resulted in a few broken bits of my own. Able to ride again now tho and 3rd party admitted liability so got the R6. Amazing bike. Thought the ZX636 was good, the R6 is on another level. Anyway, looks like a wicked forum so hope to be asking and answering questions and making some new mates. Cheers.

Hey everyone! I just got my first bike, a 1980 SR250. I cleaned the carb, plan to change the oil and the spark-plug, just some basic stuff. I have it running, and it runs pretty well! I have 2 questions: - There's a LOT of rust in my tank. I have an in-line filter on it, and my fuel-line is clear, and you can see the large amounts of rust in the fuel line. I don't want this to eventually clog up my fuel line. Is it fine like this? or should I have the inside of the tank rust-proofed somehow? -My muffler is rusted out the wazoo. I can see broken off parts sitting inside the muffler, and the opening is almost completely rusted out. Should I replace this? or does…

can you help? A prestigious London Museum are curating an exhibition for a modern museum in Turkey. Ideally we'd like to feature a Yamaha RD 350 motorbike (c1973) The Museum would be responsible for organising and covering costs of shipping and insurance. Are you a collector or owner that might be interested in offering a loan from April - June 2008? Thank you!

Hello everyone. Yes, I'm another new member. Not only to this club but to the world of Yamaha motorcycles. I have owned 2 Ducati's previously. A Monster 600 Dark, purchased new in 1998 and a 2000 model 748, which I bought in January 2006. The 748 set fire to itself last month and has been rendered 'uneconomical' to repair. I test rode a 2005 model R6 yesterday and decided to buy it. Have I made a good choice?

Hi guys and gals . Got the itch every year so this year I scratched it and bought myself a FZS 600. Had the bike for just over a month, done nearly 2,000 miles and have been having a ball . Well until today . Bought a mini torch and attached it to my keys. Stupid mistake that was . It locked the steering and I dropped the bike. Luckily was only walking speed so nothing more than bruised pride and shins. Oh and a broken clutch lever and a scuff on the generator cover.

Evening all With the price of unleaded averaging £1.02 a litre where I live, I was wondering if anyone had any plans to try and get some fuel protests going? Someone on the MCN website suggests boycotting Esso and BP but if they're the cheapest nearest you, it doesn't seem practical to ride / drive further away to pay more. With the extra duty on fuel imposed by the government in October, together with the plans for pay as you ride on the roads and our road fund licences, we're being taken advantage of (in my opinion!). I couldn't make the protest in London in October to lobby against road prices as we were out of the country but if anyone knows of any plans for…

Hi guys. After initially posting a question about which bike to get I finally got mine last week wednesday. I only managed to take her out for a ride to work yesterday and what a ride it was fantastic. (it is a 2004 yamaha r6 with 7500 on the clock). As I was riding on the dual carriage way and giving it a decent amount of revs gearchanging was no problem at all but when going down a 30mph stretch after pulling away I changed through the gears but going from 3rd to 4th I pulled the clutch in as per usual and lifted the gear lever with my foot and it clicked as if to engage but when I let the clutch out it just reved as though I had put it into neutral. I pulled in t…

After 3 weeks of non-stop work, I managed to get out on the bike today. I had business to do on the Costa Calida, so I thought let's go by bike. The weather was great.....blue skies and temps of 25-28 degrees! Total round trip of 300 miles from Huescar to Cartagena to La Manga to Mazarron to Totana to Lorca to Velez Rubio to Orce to Huescar! The trip begins in the province of Granada, then into the province of Murcia, south into the province of Almeria, then back up into Granada. So here's a couple of shots to cheer up you poor sods stuck back there in Britain! A stop for coffee in Barranda (Murcia). Another stop for coffee in Los Belones…
