Hi, i would like to say hello to you all first, and ask question after. my name is doni and im from belfast, northern ireland but am now living in england. i used to be a bike fanatic in my teens, but fell out of love wiv em after i came off wiv me brother on the back of a 500cc quad, and he ended up in hossie for about 3 weeks. i was thrown clear of the bike but the bike landed on my bro and broke a few ribs, caused a 12" gash through his arm to the bone and he suffered slight concussion as well. anyway, my son decided he wanted a bike, so i just bought him a yamaha pw90 from a friend of his friends, and i dont know much about it. the only thing i can really see …

i just purchased a beaten or dropped 96 yzf 600 and i was wondering what parts may be interchangeable from the different years of yzf's. the 90's yzfs appear to be very similar. especially the tanks and body work. i have some cracked body panels that i want to replace or fix. any ideas?

Hello all! My 1st proper post. I'm putting together an XS400 DOHC Maxim/Seca thing. Major worry at the moment is the petrol tank - I just don't have one, and it'll be a real job to find one in the UK, I think. I've been offered one off an XJ750 Maxim. It looks the same shape as the pics I've seen of the 400. Does any one know if it's more or less the same size? I don't mind if it's a bit big, just don't want it to be hooooge! Thanks

Hi I am strugling to find much info on the bike I am going to look at this weekend I am looking for a YZF R6 1998-2003 model, please can you give me any common faults on these I am kind of aware of the 2nd gear thing but any info on that would be appreciated. I am hopping to get one with milage from 10-20k and dont want to buy a lemon. I have tried searching this forum but you cant search for r6 as the search needs to be minimum 3 letters long per word, also I have looked on the internet for r6 forums yamaha forums but I cant really find any good ones so if you could point me to a more specified forum that would also be great. Thanks very much for any help it will …

Hi Folks, I own a '92 3HE FZR600 Genesis (tho its says 1994 on V5 doc), which I use daily and enjoy. But wanted opinions from other owners. My bike really doesnt seem to like pulling away too well when below 3000 rpm and I find myself dropping gears to overtake people. Bike pulls well through the range apart from that. Is this normal - or should I be worried?!?!?!?! Also on the lookout for an exhaust and engine casings ( to replace minor damage caused by previous owners ) if anyone has anything out there for sale! :-) Looking forward to hearing from other owners!

  14. Started by CARBON CHECA,

Hi guys sorry i'm new here and in need of help i'll try and give you as much info as i know. I have managed to purchase the only R1 Carbon Checa ever built buy Q8 Carbon in Day Glow orange marlboro colours. its a 2000 w with only 300 genuine miles on the clock. the person who sold the bike is innocent i believe but after doing only 117 miles the back wheel locked up and nearly threw me off. i've had a yamaha mechanic strip the engine to find that someone had put sand into the engine threw the oil filler meaning that the engine is now scrap. i spoke to yamaha this morning who have advised me that it will cost in the region of 4.5k to repair as they dont sell new engines. …

Hi, Could anyone tell me if I can get a tail tidy for a Yamaha TZR 50? I can't see any, would one off a R1 or an R6 fit? If it has indicators built in, do I need to change some wiring? How easy is it? Just asking because I haven't really got much experience. Any help would be appreciated.

Just a quick line to say thanks to "oldgitonabike" and "R4v" for their sound advice re adjusting splines - I'm so new to this I at first thought it was a typo should be "spines"!!! Had them adjusted as recommended - it has made a great improvement - can get my foot under the gear lever properly now!! It is fantastic that newbe's such as myself can get good, sound advice from forum members without feeling like a muppet of the highest order. Any how many thanks and I look forward to more help when I ask what are probably very basic questions without the feeling of total inadequacy. We've all got to start somewhere!! Regards, Matt

Hi everyone I was hoping today was going to be a happy day for me but not to be. I had my test this morning at 9.40 and all week doing my das course I was getting on great but yesterday for some reason I couldn't get my u-turns, today however I was at the training school at 7 am and I practiced until it fell into place. Then when I started my test I couldn't beleive how smoothly it went, all my manouvers were perfect until 10 minutes to go I stalled the bike at a junction, the bike was in second I was sure I had it in first and I ran over the give way and he failed me boohoo. Apart from theat I got one other minor fault.......Gutted absolutely gutted.

Is there anything I can do to improve my balance when stopping and taking off? It always seems as though I need to go back and fourth when slowing down and taking off to keep secure balance on the bike. I was using one foot to balance but now am starting to use both feet when coming into a stop for better balance. I guess I am asking what most people are using for the best combination of braking and balancing when stoping and taking off. I have been riding for a couple months now and am trying to refine the smoothness in this process; it's a lot harder then what most non-bikers think! I have a 77 500 xs with vertical controls. Thanks guys.

OK folks; I've enrolled on an evening motorcycle maintenance course in order to exorcise my mechanical klutz demons. We start getting our hands dirty as of tonight. Coincidentally, I saw a 1981 RD250LC up for sale this weekend. It's an ex-proddie racer being sold as a runner in need of work. The shop owner said that he is assured that it runs and he's turned it over but not fired it up. bodywork is good and the bike looks OK on first cursory glance. I know that the exhausts have been opened up and gutted but not of anything else that's been done to it as yet. I was wondering whether it would be a relatively easy project and whether it would be worth starting on. I d…
