Hi Guys. Wonder if you can help me out? Bought an XV750, as mentioned in previous posts, and it conked out on the way home after 30 miles. Green flag obliged and I cleaned out the concrete-like blockages from all of the jets, bowl etc and managed to run it intermittently sometimes on one cylinder. Forked out £160 to have the carbs rejetted, cleaned etc and it ran fine for a few miles then started chugging. Checked the plugs and they were choked up with carbon preventing sparking. Cleaned and started resetting pilot jets and running in between until I had them turned out 3 and a half turns. Still fouling! Did that paper test thingy on the remote Mixture Control Valve. No v…

Hi guys, When commuting in London I am constantly changing up/down gears, but I have noticed that when I am in the lower gears if I release the throttle but do not brake (engine is providing braking obv), when I re-apply the throttle there is a thud as the chain is grabbed. Is this poor throttle/clutch management on my part, or something to be expected? Also, my throttle has a lot of play in it (christofeser is kindly helping me out with this at a later date), to the point where if I want to pin it I have to adjust my grip forward to then pull down further; this means however that when I go to change gear, I go to close the throttle but because I have had to twist i…

Hi Guys, I just bought an XV750 1982 so I joined your club to find out more about it and to see if I can pick your collective brain. It has, what I gather from extensive reading, are usual problems associated with this model, about which more later, after I have perused your forum for FAQ's Regards

DEA officer stops at a ranch in Texas, and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher says, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there," as he points out the location. The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me." Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the rancher. "See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand? " The rancher nods politely, apologiz…

Spent the last 3 days pulling the DT to bits playing hide and seek with the spark and it was the bloody cap. A brand new bastard that i bought "to make sure" mutter, grumble, i've set the timing, swapped coils, plugs, been into my loom to be sure of connections. "Caps either work or they don't" Ha, famous last words

    1) Bikers are helpful - Not 15 minutes after getting my MOT certificate, I'm in the Post Office car park on my knees fiddling with the tax disc holder. 'Having trouble with your bike, mate?...only I'm a biker and I saw you pokin' about so came to see if I could help,' said a voice. Followed by 15 minute chat about decent local rides. My car's broken down a hundred times and no fecker's ever stopped to help me. 2) Bikers are friendly - Total riding time...3 hours(ish). Biker's nods...12 and counting. Nobody in a car EVER nodded at me. 3) When was the last time I got in my car and went for a drive for the sheer PLEASURE of it? NEVER...That's when! Looks like I made…

  19. Hello folks, Having only done about 200 miles since I got my YBR (I'm not counting however many miles I did way back when I had my first bike in '93), I was wondering if some of you could help me with some noob questions? 1) When I come up to a red light (for instance) I go... See red light, clutch in, down down down down to first gear, coast to a stop at the light still in first with the clutch in, ready to go again. Is that bad for my engine? It's what I used to do before, but neither of my CBT instructors ever actually told me what I should be doing. Should I be changing gear down one at a time with throttle in between? Because the bike doesn't seem to like t…
