Hi Guys, I just bought an XV750 1982 so I joined your club to find out more about it and to see if I can pick your collective brain. It has, what I gather from extensive reading, are usual problems associated with this model, about which more later, after I have perused your forum for FAQ's Regards

DEA officer stops at a ranch in Texas, and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher says, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there," as he points out the location. The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me." Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the rancher. "See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand? " The rancher nods politely, apologiz…

Just thought i would say hi, had bikes all my life since the age of 13 now im 46 and still mad over them. Like the old stuff but my newest bike is an XT660R but my favourite is my 1978 xt500e which i have fully rebuilt. I also a member of both the XT forums and frequent them every night. Too many bikes to list and i dont like to brag but i do have a few bikes. Looking forward to chatting on the forum but i will more that likely frequent the classic section ad off road. Cheers Tommy10bikes

Spent the last 3 days pulling the DT to bits playing hide and seek with the spark and it was the bloody cap. A brand new bastard that i bought "to make sure" mutter, grumble, i've set the timing, swapped coils, plugs, been into my loom to be sure of connections. "Caps either work or they don't" Ha, famous last words

    1) Bikers are helpful - Not 15 minutes after getting my MOT certificate, I'm in the Post Office car park on my knees fiddling with the tax disc holder. 'Having trouble with your bike, mate?...only I'm a biker and I saw you pokin' about so came to see if I could help,' said a voice. Followed by 15 minute chat about decent local rides. My car's broken down a hundred times and no fecker's ever stopped to help me. 2) Bikers are friendly - Total riding time...3 hours(ish). Biker's nods...12 and counting. Nobody in a car EVER nodded at me. 3) When was the last time I got in my car and went for a drive for the sheer PLEASURE of it? NEVER...That's when! Looks like I made…

  12. Hello folks, Having only done about 200 miles since I got my YBR (I'm not counting however many miles I did way back when I had my first bike in '93), I was wondering if some of you could help me with some noob questions? 1) When I come up to a red light (for instance) I go... See red light, clutch in, down down down down to first gear, coast to a stop at the light still in first with the clutch in, ready to go again. Is that bad for my engine? It's what I used to do before, but neither of my CBT instructors ever actually told me what I should be doing. Should I be changing gear down one at a time with throttle in between? Because the bike doesn't seem to like t…

Hi guys and girls, After 6 weeks of waiting for the cogs to turn far enough for the DVLA to spit out a new provisional licence and send it via second-class post to me, I was finally able to take my CBT, insure and tax my bike and get it on the road yesterday! I've done close to 100 miles on it today, drove into London went for a little toot around and then blatted back down the A316 to Weybridge... found out that my beast of a 125 Drag refuses to go faster than 55mph, but then at 6'3 and 17st I'm not the lightest or most aerodynamic of lumps for it to shift. Been great so far, just wanted to let everyone know that I'm very happy I chose to free myself from publi…

Just a suggestion so 'flame me if you will', as it seems that a lot of new members join up all the time, and by far most are polite/friendly enough to make an 'intro' either as an intro or as part of their first post (which is usually a 'fix-it question), would it not be possible to make the existing FAQ section into a 'New members' section, and, incorporate the FAQ's as a sticky 'inside' this new titled section ? as a noob must have a look at the main page 'looking for the door' and not see one ?
