Ok I just got back from the MOT shop after my second attempt at getting the Maxim road legal, it PASSED thank God so now it is off with it's new owner, that left me with a bit of a gap in the garage which was just calling out for another winter 2013 project, got talking to the owner of the shop and he said he had a Suzuki 400 bandit in the back that had been abandoned by it's owner 2 years ago, been sat there waiting for him to come back and pay what it owes for work done, long story short I now have 2 of them for £110 inc delivery , seems that the original owner had bought a second one for spare parts that the shop could use to get the original one running. Not in the b…

As Arnie once put it, I'm back .... Although minus the bad haircut and dodgy accent. Haven't posted in ages but glad to see the sites still here --- so 3 cheers to all of you who still take the time to make it happen. Thankless job no doubt, you have my admiration. As I approach the age of a living fossil, aka 40, I have found myself pondering some of life's big questions. Why are we here? When will I die? What exactly does blue belly button fluff do? Just wondering if any of you have life insurance which gives a particularly good deal to bikers ... seeing as we have the unenviable honour of being most likely to meet our Maker while thinking "where the hell did he…

Well i finally passed MOD 1 after three failed attempts! Was pretty nervous again this morning and not looking forward to the avoidance again, lots of deep breaths trying to get karma and then repeating to myself 'I can do this'...and I did. What a happy bunny I am today. Roll on MOD 2.

bear with me - there is a tendancy for all us bikers (i think) to have an eye out for the next upgrade, we work our way up from learner type machines and of course from there find the next step, newer, more trick looking. more powerful ...then there comes a point where you feel a tendancy to keep going and perhaps, as maybe you get older that you sometimes look back and think, I wish I hadn't sold that bike, let it go, traded it in...and it wasn't necessarily the newest, best looking or most powerful.. do you think that it can actually be harder to say,' no this bikes fine it does everything I need' and resist the peer pressure or whatever it is that makes us keep…

I've decided that after some consideration that breathing in a bit of two stroke smoke and having a blast on the dtr is way more healthy than those little white sticks. So I'm giving up smoking. Lol

I wouldn't go so far as to say I get pissed off In fact sometime's its Quite funny and often it's an honest mistake, I know when I first joined YOC my intro wasn't great. I found the (start a new topic button) but thought starting a new topic isn't saying hello. I think its quite confusing when your new, if there was a button that said (say hello here) it would be much simpler and we wouldn't see nearly so many questions in the new members area. I realize its the same layout for each forum and maybe can't change button title on just one forum but maybe a heading above the button would help. anyone else got any idea's how to make it clearer to new members as know i'm…

Well got the cylinder and head off her!! Doesn't look nice. First glance the head looked fine apart from small dents all over the detention surface. Then the cylinder didn't have any obvious marks or chunks missing but the piston had 1/4 of a ring missing and a few bits lying in bottom end! Also the small end baring where stuff as hell, I had to get a pin and hammer to knock out pin. I've test fitted a new piston and I find when I push in the piston there is resistance at the top of exhaust port so I'm guessing that's not good. Would it be worth getting the dremel out and tryin to smooth over the edge of exhaust port? Cheers Ken

Hey peeps Been drawing up some sketches for project FUCR, the tank that is on it now is fuck ugly and will be going, but inkeeping with the cafe racer them i want to find a smaller (but still large enough for good range) fuel tank, and due to the XZs' design of having the airbox and carbs underneath the tank it would need to have a fairly wide tunnel underneath, since my options for used tanks are limited im wanting to fabricate one. however im not sure wether it would be more beneficial to use aluminium or fibreglass, will most likely be using large blocks of florist foam as templates so actually forming either shouldnt be a problem, only problems i can foresee a…

Hello, sorry if there is already a thread under the same subject, I am new to this Forum and I don't really know much about it. I am just looking for some good security devices for my YBR125 and hopefully it will bring my Insurance down a little. What do you recommend?
