Hi, I've just quit the Arms' Race and traded in a CB1300 for an XT660R. Although no firebreathing monster at 113bhp, the CB was a torque fiend at 86 ft lbs. Why did I change to the XT. Well, the Honda wasn't actually that great with a few minor but very irritating niggles. Lovely engine, decent gearbox and handling but too much of a Gentleman's Express and a total lack of character. I fell in love with the looks, but owning a Posemobile has a limited appeal after a while. All this got me thinking about the state of motorcycling today. I love all things bike and the latest generation of sports bikes are truly awesome and in the R1's case very beautiful as well. The Big F…

just had the bike all over, 80 miles or so, and bloody hell it was fun 8) the route went like this, over to nearby village 'sandhead' along the back roads by the airbase giving it big licks , dunragit, glenluce, then down over to port william(it's like craggy island there  all the old guys were out looking at the bike, petrol pumps in the wee garage that looked like they were from the 60's/70's) and along all the roads round that area. just sitting at a smooth 60/70 the whole way. cleared my head no end 8) some great flowing tight corners on that road, got the tyres worn right to the edges now  anyone else out tonight?

Iv'e read quite a bit on here and elsewhere about ppl with those things and how good they are, yea they are good in the dry but not the wet!. My mate has got them for his VFR (well someone has to buy Honda I suppose) hasn't put them on yet. But am I the only one who doesn't like them in the wet? He seemed really quite chuffed that he's got them, I'm gona see him sometime today and ask him. I know someone else too that put them on his 1k Geny and ranted about them, like I say so far Iv'e had no probs with them in the dry, but thats where I draw the line.

Nice run on the XT today...150 miles! 8) Had to pick up some computer bits in Cardiff so I thought I'd use the bike. From Llandod to Brecon, then across the Beacons, and straight down the A470 into Cardiff. Then back through Newport, Raglan, and Abergavenny. Beautiful weather, the XT's definitely loosening up now, and passed 2700 miles. Next week or so it'll be time for an oil and filter change, which will be the second one since I had it a month ago with 1600 on the clock. As you can see, I really take my oil and filter changes seriously.....no more than 1500 miles between them. It pays off in the end you know! 8)

Hi as a mew member feel a bit cheeky to already ask for assistance in finding a part for my bike. I have a TDM 850 that i use at the weekends and the timing is out. I have a feeling it is the Ignitor Unit that needs replacing but for £400 that i have been quated they can get stuffed. Of any of you know where i can get a cheap one i would be very grateful. Cheers john

As I mentioned in another thread yesterday, I rode out to the Forest of Dean to meet up with friends from the Welsh Sports and Tourers Club. Me and the wife got there about 1.30, but no sign of them. Stayed for a while, then rode home via Hereford. So when I got back home I found out that there'd been a serious accident amongst the group while making their way there. Unfortunately I found out today that the rider concerned (Andrew) was killed on a bend while riding his Hayabusa. I hadn't met him yet as he'd only recently joined the club, but you still feel the pain when you lose one of us. Sympathies to Andrew's family, and any condolence messages posted here wil…

Me and the wife went from Llandrindod to Mallards Pike Lake in the Forest of Dean. Planned to meet up with a few guys from the Cardiff area there, but ended up stopping at Black Mountain Yamaha on the way down and got caught up watching the first Superbike race cos Haga was on song. So I ended up missing them. Heading back towards Monmouth we came across about 150 bikes coming the other way with a Police escort. Amazing sight....reminiscent of the 70's Golden Era! Went back home via Hereford, so a nice 150 mile trip....and the XT is really beginning to loosen up now. 900 miles in less than a month. So where did you lot go?

Apparently they are having to recall 8200 motorcycles sold this year, cos the speedos are under-reading by 25%. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...honda_recall_dc Fair play to Honda for the recall though.....cos we know one manufacturer that would try to worm it's way out of it, don't we? 8)

Ok, here we go!, my mate said yesterday I should change my oil, yes I said!, now (and this is his idea!). He reckons oil is oil, he gets his from the motor factors £8 for 5 ltrs semi synth. He reckons the stuff you you get out the factors (eg Comma ect) when it says 10/40 ect or semi/fully ect is the same quality as shell ect out the bike shops. I kinda agreed because I didnt know, but quietly I'm saying "dont talk shite!", is he right/wrong?. Personaly I'd rather put Shell, Castrol ect in it, whats the verdict on this?

I was looking at your bike and other's who have the yzf 750, and Iv'e came to the conclusion that mine has definately been "raised" at the seat rails. maybe not by much but it has raised, cause where the welds are that come out from the frame, the angle at the frame is about 25 degrees then goes to about 30. I thought the back end look kinda high, I'll need to same pics sent in of this thing, well then again just imagine a 94' yzf 750 without a fairing in black (all black, apart from the tuning forks symbal on the tank) a slightly raised back end small twin h/lights and your there!, oh, and blue wheels :?

Fitting a 1ltr exup engine or (if it would work) fitting a 1ltr block and head onto the yzf750 bottom, again if would work.
