Saw this on MCN website...The EU are messing again.... Do we all know about the new test centres? " My names Alex and I am a motorcycle instructor living and working in Cornwall. First off I understand that the DSA will be introducing this new test and has to because our Government has said it will. The problem is and I'm sure you are aware that these new centres are taking time to be completed. Even when all 66 sites are completed there will be large areas of our country which aren't covered. (as already covered by the MCN). In the DSA's latest dispatch (April 08 edition) they are predicting only 35 sites will be operational by th end of September, leaving 31…

Hi, I have been shopping around the last week or so now for a deal on insurance. I am now stuck between two of them, which one would you recommend? I have one year No Claims Bonus at the moment after an accident in 2006. Now, at the moment I live in a apartment with a communal secure car park under ground and this is where the bike will be kept. Because it’s a car park, the quotes are quite high. Some insurers like Bennets are quoting in the region of £2500! The best quote so far is: Autonet bike insurance - Website£1028 One bike Insurance: They have no website... £1072 -- They claim to protect or "guarantee" my 1 yr NCB - is this possible? I though…

Hi, I would like to know your opinion on the 2003 Yamaha R1. I had the '99 model and loved it to bits. Had a clunky 1st to 2nd gear change, but that was it. I am about to buy a 2003 R1 for £3500, is this the going price for a 15 000mile, but spotless bike? Thank you.

Hello everyone! Well I'm sure by now, judging by how many new members there are that probably about 60% of you have no idea who I am... but for those who do... I'm finally back in the country after spending time in Africa raising around £12000 for the Amani Children's home, which is an orphanage in a little town called Moshi in Tanzania. Here are some friends and I at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, it was -20C hence the hats. I have to say it was the hardest thing I have done. I just can't begin to describe how hard trekking is at altitude. This is one of the incredible views I would wake up to every morning, this one is on the way up to base camp…

you dont have to be into the "biker rally" scene for this to affect you. if you go to meets of any type, IT DOES affect you some of you may know , some may not, but the Rock & Blues , and now the Welsh Motorcycle Show has been cancelled. the Welsh , due to Police objections, that were not raised with the authorities (Licensing or otherwise) but directly with the committee of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. now the Welsh is a show, not a rally, and more a family type event . there are also plans in the pipe line to try and get the licences for other smaller motorcycle events revoked. god knows where this will stop. after seeing the violence in Manchester las…

Good forum people, I'm planning a short trip to Europe at the end of the summer, using the TDM. I was initially going to use Eurotunnel because it's quick, easy and I can keep an eye on the bike but my other half would like to be able to relax on the ferry instead. I'm looking at a Dover-Calais crossing, so does anyone have any experience on how well/badly bikes are handled on the ferries? Does any carrier come in for praise/criticism? Any experiences anybody has would be appreciated. I assume the bike would be tied down but, as I'll be using the new one, I'd be mortified if any damage occurs on the crossing. I also apologise if the topic has already been covered. T…
