Aye, Ive tried adjustments to reduce the problem, and think im at the best i can get now. Freeplay is set as per the book. Its only a prblem with heavy town traffic. The piccys show the standard and the modded levers. Ive managed to get hold of a second hand clutch cover unit for a good price from a breaker, clutch cover, lever and cable supprt bracket, so that I can can mod that and try it. If I cock it up, I can still revert back to original with no hassle

With baffles out, unlikely With baffles in, possibly Is it not possible to weld/repair the originals for MOT purposes, then once its passed, fit the new pipes?

Since I posted this last night, a little more searching turned up an old thread on another forum. A guy in the states was extending the clutch slave lever for members, with positive results. I'll be in the garage tomorrow to investigate the posibilities.

Had the fazer for a year now, my only grouch is that I am finding the clutch lever heavy going in town traffic, and suspect the same would be the case on a trackday. I gone through the lever/cable connections/adjustments etc, well lubricated, and cant get it any lighter. The class system has changed over the last to 3 decades. We used to be classed according to the occupation of the parents (the father typically), hence I will always be working class. The working class was further sub divided into skilled and unskilled sections. Have you bought a new tank or a a second hand tank? Is it the colour code of the tank or the 1993 virago you require? If its the colour code for the bike, ring a yamaha main dealer, give them the reg of the bike, they should be able to give you the code. or log onto the RS Bike Paints web site, fill in the bike details in the boxes, that should give you the codes too

Have you got a complete wiring loom for the bike, or are you starting from scratch? I see from one of your previous posts that you have the Haynes for the bike. There is usually a full electrical schematic at the back

They were like it from new. Reviews at the bikes launch noted cluncky gearchanges, and google throws up lots of comments on the subject. Some say a different oil reduces it. I wehnt through a series aof adjustements to the clutch/gearlever, no improvements. It improved a little when I slowed down the tickover spreed alittle. If I slowed it too far, the bike tended to stall at gearchanges. I think its ones of those things you have to learn to love with the Fazer. Theyre a good bike, build quality is good, quick and nimble. Make sure to lubricate the clutch cable, it can get a little heavy to pull in if neglected

Could it be that now youve thicker pads on, theres a little too much fluid?

Then youll require the electrical schematic for whatever bike it is that you have. Google it

1) Yes, its acceptable generally. Unlikely to attract the police, but be on constant look out for drivers suddenly turning left/right in front of you without looking. Speed probably 10-20% faster than the traffic, give yourself some time to react. It happens, a lot 2) Shoulder? Do you mean pavement? Or the edge of the road, between the kerb and the nearside of the cars? If its the latter, I always leave that to cyclists, car drivers close the gap on you if you move up the nearside 3) Must admit, Ive never parked on a pavement. Likely to get the bike pushed over by scrotes 4) Unsure, but a likelihood of the bike being clamped for not being in a designated area. Many local councils dont charge for motorcycle parking anyway, check in your area 5) Dont know about Yorkshire

I tought you could convert to mph on the digital display? Ill have to have a look in the ownres manual/haynes and see if its posiible, or google it Make sure you test ride it first, to make sure you are happy with the gearbox, neutral to first and first to second are clancky Fazer or naked?

Went to view this morning, I reckon traders have already bagged many items, "Withdrawn" stickers on all of the fuel tanks, and many of the exhausts. It must a restorers dream, cranks/pistons/rings/camshafts/internal parts etc etc, seals/gaskets, stuff going back to the 70s i reckon
