cant hear what hes saying but i would say hes talking out of his arse.
  4. hi you need a long bar with a nut welded on it the same size as the damper rod, from memory i think yams are 17 or 19mm.if you cant make something like that you could try putting fork leg in a vice and compressing it to load spring and damper rod up,then try undoing allen bolt, this has worked for me in the past. cheers mark.
  5. hi if you can, get a thin bladed screwdriver under them, lift them and squirt water and washing up liquid mixture underneath them, few twists to spread liquid and work of th bars. cheers mark.
  6. hi i have one of those on my 175,cable goes through the square cut out, mine works o.k. without hitting plastic guide.no idea why they were fitted?
  7. hi pull the carb slide spring back, turn the slide upside down and the retainer should fall out. cheers mark.
  8. update on dt 230 saga, thanks go to len manchesters in melton mowbray, power valve sourced and imported from japan, one week from ordering to delivery, amazingly only £66,for those who dont know about them, same styling as dt125 re 2004 onwards, better rear shock with preload and rebound damping, ally wheels, twin piston brakes front and rear from yz range, rear pegs fold out from frame, traction control, electronic clocks, claimed 40 horse motor, first ride feels promising, plenty of bottom end, obviously not as revvy as 125,easily pulling about 90mph,i had a 125re and this is the same but much better, insurance carried on from 175 with no extra to pay except admin fee,if you like the 125 and fancy more poke this is recommended. cheers mark.
  9. hi everyone saga continues,125 power valve wont work in 230,local dealer not hopeful of being able to get one, last chance saloon, has anybody got one i could borrow, got a good engineering shop that is willing to try and machine one but obviously need one to copy, heres hoping cheers mark.
  10. hi everyone finally got a dt 230,picked it up,got home, all appeared good until a bit of a grinding started from power valve, removed cover, bit of play, suspected bush, removed all covers pulled power valve out, only got one half, other nowhere to be seen, not suprising seller not answering phone,600 mile round trip not really worth a return visit.now to the point,im not hopeful of getting a 230 one, would like to know if anyone has a 125 one i could borrow with view to buying if it fits, happily pay postage and return postage if it wont fit. thanks mark. update,125 power valve aquired, not the same, bit of reprofiling needed, hopefully it will work.
  11. i had the same sort of problem on a 54 plate, after much pratting about with everything i stumbled across this, the starter solenoid that sits behind your rear brake light switch has a fuse next to it,in just the right place to get full of water and crap, mine was making a bad contact, especially when i had been green laning, disconnect it,take out the fuse and clean all connections, you never know it might just be this. cheers mark
  12. yeah,no play anywhere,i had to push out a brass bush from original lever and fit to new lever for pivot bolt,i am assuming the play is from the pivot bolt.
  13. adam i am running a set of chineeeeesey copy levers on my gsxr 1000,been on for over a year, got mates who are also running them on various bikes,no problems with any of them, another mate bought genuine pazzos,£160,when he opened the box, they were identical apart from pazzo was machined into them, dont worry they are good levers.
  14. unlike many others,i have leant this far over and more ,on the gas, things go wrong quick,i have broken ribs and colllar bone to prove this, mulholland is a great place to show off,you tube it,hes not the first to loose it in front of the camera?
  15. hi everyone just looking for a bit of confirmation if possible,i have a 2004 dtr re electric start model,i am after fitting fibre reeds, yam bits on ebay have them up to 2004,no reply on whether they are the same so i thought i would ask here. thanks mark. answer now found, they are the same
  16. i was about a mile from there last august for a week, some great roads,we looked down on the castle on the lake from a cafe at the top.
  17. anti clockwise,as normal,if they are tight try tightening a bit first,if that fails hit back of screwdriver while trying to loosen.
  18. good price,i got mine at a steal looking at others,i would get reeds as well if you not already got them, tried mine with bottle blanked off, definately a difference, although still better with reeds than stock reeds,i think both bits compliment each other.
  19. andy you will probably have to change the forks, other way and probably more expensive would be to get a conversion plate made to match caliper to disc.
  20. that would explain the strange looks in granbys when i asked what they did in the s&m range.
  21. no sorry mate,try ebay usa,either mx 175,or rt 180,the 180 uses 4 stud head. cheers mark.
  22. to all those with dt 175s been reading about american dt175,they had a rt 180,that came with a boost bottle, trawled through ebay usa,£17 later, one week, said boost bottle and manifold arrive, thought while carbs off i will fit hy tech reeds, another £17 later, couple of tags welded to frame, reeds, bottle fitted,KIN HELL,dont what made the difference as both were fitted at the same time, easy 2nd gear wheelies straight off the throttle, lifting wheel from 2nd to 3rd easily.recommend this mod if you are looking for a bit more poke, bike is running a fresco front pipe,s&m stinger on rear,hy tech reeds, boost bottle,160 main jet, ultra reliable and now just as much fun a my 125 re,might even put 125 up for sale and just use 175.quick pic of yz 250 rear arm in my 125
