Don't get dragged into the 2stroke oil snobbery. Yam 2 strokes in stock trim will just about run on chip far, no im not joking. Big roller bearing mains, needle roller small ends, the engines are bomb proof if ridden/maintained right. I have been using morris semi synth 2 stroke oil (fiver a litre from Churchill motors Pattishall) for years with no problems at all. As for the seat I cannot help, last 350 I had was in the early 90's as a winter hack (yeah I know) cannot remember how to get the seat open.

You have tacked on to a very old thread which will for the most part get you ignored. Start a proper thread of your own, after saying hi briefly in the new members area.

Italy is definately on the maybe list. That kind of fast cruising will cost bomb. Even carrying an extra gallon. Even 2 gets me nowhere near the range of the rest of you. Plus without being unkind to the max. It is a bike you muscle around, literally. Cruising through the countryside and blasting traffic is epic. 3 figure continent blasting? Physically I don't know. Need to do some distance in the UK first I think. Also, stopping so often in Wales felt like I was spoiling things for everybody else.

How long would the trip be, any ideas. I mean in time not miles. I haven't a clue and would need to get it past the boss. Boring detail. The max needs fuel every 100 miles at best or your pushing 286kg. High speed cruising could see it in the 80's. Just letting ya know...

Sucks for you. Still like Andy said should be sorted soon. Lol. The max I bought needs Coils, plugs, spedo drive ate its self on the first decent ride and the battery wouldn't hold charge. All pretty standard vmax faults. Swap you a carb clean... Have to say none of it unexpected. She was cheap, 6months ago she was a pile of bits in a van. Last ridden 2014.

It's different. It's the torque. Makes anything seem peaky. Any time, any gear, any rpm yank it's chain and it's off. It's not subtle like an in line 4 either. It's old school angry gsxr type shove. You got to respect it. Coming from peaky 600's and 10 years of 2 stroke quite honestly it's hard to get your head round. I feel like I'm 16years old again when I start it.

If you are fitting the 150 I think you would be making a mistake not taking the engine right down. Then when built back up you know it will handle the extra. If you have stripped the top end down. Splitting the cases is really not much more. At the moment you could be fitting a lot of expensive parts to, maybe a bad crank bearing?

I let it be known to the tdr forum and within 24 hrs there is a list of people wanting to see it. Hand on heart. Wales actually sealed the deal. It was bloody hard work keeping it on the boil. My ankle and knee were killing me by the time I got home. Also I have always said. Leaving a bike to die a slow death as an investment is not me. I had it, enjoyed it and now it's time to change and let somebody else loose with it. Like your 750 John.

Yep, blue spots and wavey disks up front so it stops. De chromed (ace) and yes full power 1500 mile motor in it. Pics when I pick it up.

Pulled the trigger on a vmax this evening. Practically stole the damn thing. She is lightly modded to exactly how I would tweak a max. Motorcycle bucket list complete. So if anybody wants a tdr......
