Hello all, from Canada. Long time rider, new to yamaha. I am a die hard honda rider and wrencher, but finallygot a dream bike that I have wanted forever. 1986 FZ 750 (red, white and blue). It isnt running but I have known the bike for almost 30 years. It is near completion of an engine rebuild and I will do a frame up restoration. I ride an ST 1100 sport touring and love wrenching and rebuilding on the old bikes. Right off the top, I need a new gas tank, upper left fairing, belly pan, and exhaust. If anyone has some parts to sell, please let me know. Cheers.

  2. I got into this Yamaha owners thing by accident last year. A friend of mine had bought a 1991 Yamaha XJ600 Pre Div in 2013, spent a year trying to get it to run, and partially succeeded - (It might deign to run when the weather was dry), but he got fed up with it refusing to run if there was even a smidgen of moisture in the air. The straw which broke the camel's back, was the day it was booked for an MOT and, (it being a rainy day) the thing wouldn't start. Various teddies were thrown out of prams, and my friend said, "if you want it, you can have it for what I paid for it, I've had enough!" Since said friend had just replaced the exhaust with a Motad 4-1 and repl…

My name is Jon. It's my first V-twin byke; previously I had street (naked) byke. I am from Italy and my byke is a '96 Yamaha Virago 535. Nice to be here and thank you for your welcoming. Salve!

Just a quick intro, my name's Dave. OK so it’s midlife crisis time. I’ve decided that now is the time to get a bike. To make it easier to pass my test I’ve got a YBR125. I love it! I have used it to commute to work which is 30 miles away down the A40 and it will sit at 60mph. It does wobble a bit when trucks go by but it just adds to the fun. When I pass my test later this month I plan to get a XVS950 Midnight Star (when funds allow). I plan to do as much maintenance as possible myself to reduce running costs so I may have some questions from time to time. Take care and have fun.

Hi All, Just dropping in to introduce myself and say hello. I am new to road bikes, did some off road riding in my teens and had a moped for the road, then into cars and never quite got round to getting a road bike....now I have after a few decades, still better late than never! I follow MotoGP, WSB, BSB and Speedway, so have a keen interest, and I like to wield a spanner now and again. All the best, no doubt I'll have some questions to post, but I will also be happy to share my experiences - once I get some :-) Steve

  9. Hi all names Brian and new here. 4 weeks I bought my bike which ran fine for some time and then suddenly I have this strange issue, Hope you can help with my problem. My Neos 50cc YN50 has started to bog down and go around 10-20mph when it use to top 40. I went out one day then on the way back bog down. I thought this may be rollers so changed the variator and snapped the crankshaft, so total engine rebuild but problem is still there. So new engine, crankshaft, piston, head, variator, clutch, springs all good as is the belt. Engine pressure 170psi. Carbs cleaned and also swapped to be sure. Fuel supply good, no air leaks as best I can tell, also checked the fuel…

Joining from Atlantic Canada! I've been riding for 3 years now, and motorcycles are turning into a bit of an addiction (as they so often do)... I'm determined to be able to do at least some basic bike maintenance myself, but have a lot to learn. I started out on a SuzukiTU250. It was a great little bike, but the roads here are generally so terrible that I couldn't really leave town with it unless I wanted my teeth rattled out by potholes and transport trucks. So now my real baby is a 2014 Triumph Scrambler. Lots more guts for the highways, and can handle some dirt roads here and there (tho not really true trail riding). She's a good deal more complex than the T…

I started riding on a 2000 Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat in 2010! I fell in love with it. I'm afraid I will have to part with it soon since I've become a trackday rider with an interest in racing now so I don't think it would be very competitive for me...but I will never forget her! Anyone else feel my pain?

  12. Started by Tracey,

Hey folks, fairly new to this whole biking malarkey, passed my CBT and got myself a wee ybr125 2006, getting on great with it until I switched off and took my key out and engine still running!!!! Anyone got any ideas!!??? Also just before this started happening, he was struggling to start, battery going completely flat, having to kick start and if travelling with lights on(which I prefer to do) starts like misfiring any help would be awesome, cheers

  13. Hi Folks, after a summer of misery on the trains (southern fail) I decided to do my CBT, see if biking could be an option for commuting. I'm glad I did because I love it! I wanted a bike I could maintain and do basic repairs on myself. I chose the YBR (2nd hand 19k miles) as it was affordable and robust. It's also a lot of fun to ride, as my commute is 90% 30mph limit with a few bus lanes thrown in to pass the suckers stuck in cars (legally I might add). So far I've done chain cleans and adjustments and replaced the speedo cable. Bought the Haynes manual to help out too. So in short loving the bike and looking forward to getting my hands greasy! Cheers! Dan

Hello to one 'n' all. Living SE Ireland. Have spent weeks trying to find a yamaha xvs950 midnight star for sale but closest "for sale" bikes are in UK. Seems that they failed emissions regs here but i believe that i can still bring in a used bike, as long as it has a certain minimum mileage on it. Have any of you knowledgeable folks any input?. I'd be grateful for any info. Paul.

  16. I live in West Yorkshire and am semi-retired. When I was in my late twenties I proddy raced a 250LC, and Hillclimbed a 350LC along with a 500cc Pantah. Traded my 748 Ducati 12 months ago for a 1982 RD350LC Hybrid (originally German). Has had lots done to it but standard engine, and much lighter than the Duke - I'm 61 and was worried about dropping the 748 when getting my leg over

Hi all, Thought Id introduce myself before I start posing my questions in the relevant sections....... I run a Honda CRM 250 for the green-lanes around here (about 200kms outside my door!). Before you point me in the direction of crm250.com, I have just been given a knackered Yamaha DT125LC 1982. My 14 year old son has massively outgrown his PW80 and has taken an interest in trying to get this non runner up again. The bike is missing many bits (plastics and instruments) but as it will only be used in the woods, that's not an issue. It did run a few years ago, but the head gasket went and it has sat in a barn ever since....... I am now in the process of cleaning …
